Purpose: This article explored issues arising from secondary analysis of qualitative data and analyzed the results of qualitative secondary analysis studies published in English, focusing on the methodological aspects. Method: A total of 29 studies were identified as qualitative secondary analysis studies, retrieving from the CINAHL database from 1982 to 3rd week of April 2003. These studies were analyzed by publication year, research method, and type of approach to secondary analysis. Result: The year that the qualitative secondary analysis study first published was 1992 and the number of the studies using secondary analysis has increased after the middle of 1990s. Grounded theory was the one the most frequently used(n=11, 37.9%) and phenomenological study the second most(n=6, 20.7%). In terms of types of approach, fifteen studies(51.7%) focused on the specific concepts that were not explored in the primary studies. Nine(31.0%) focused on the specific types of participants. Six were aimed to integrate contexts or perspectives to generate more general and abstract analysis of qualitative data. Conclusion: The results of this article will stimulate methodological discussion of qualitative secondary analysis and activate qualitative studies using secondary analysis.

인적자원관리 (HRM)는 조직 내 구성원과 관련된 복잡한 현상과 인간관계의 다원성을 다룬다. 이러한 이유에서 정량적인 접근방법을 적용한 HRM의 연구에서는 분석의 대상과 영역이 필연적으로 제한적일 수 밖에 없다. 기업의 HRM이 포괄하는 다양한 영역 가운데 정성적인 영역이 기업의 성과와 경쟁우위를 실질적으로 좌우하는 경우가 많다. 그러나 기존의 정량적인 시각을 통한 접근은 HRM의 정성적인 측면을 등한시 해온 경향성을 보여주었다. 점차 복잡해지고 있는 HRM과 관련된 연구의 현실에서 정량적인 접근방법에 의한 연구방법은 본질적인 차원에서 그 한계를 배태하고 있다. 이러한 의미에서 본 연구는 HRM과 관련된 선행 연구를 바탕으로 질적인 방법을 적용하기 위한 주요 논점의 제시를 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 HRM 연구가 직면하고 있는 현실에서 정성적인 접근방법의 필요성을 강조하였다. 또한 HRM 연구의 다차원적인 발전을 위해 사례연구 방법의 적용을 제안함으로써 관련 연구 주제의 복잡성에 대응하고 심층적인 이해의 확대 가능성을 제시하였다.

Purpose - The corporate culture's energy is recognized to go through the company and facilitate a new balance to realize success, which means that the culture in an environment of various organizations affects the performance of its employees. The purpose of the current research is to investigate the impact of organizational culture on employee performance. Research design, data, and methodology - The current research conducted a qualitative content analysis. The primary research approach applied by qualitative content analysis is an inductive methodology, and this approach is a type of reasoning that seeks the application of logic, which later helps develop a theory that will guide the future research. Result - Research findings of the present study indicated that five solutions to the problems encountered through the execution of culture are attached to how effective the organizational culture are when workers execute. Thus, culture is realized to boost structure, because the structure of an organization elevates the behavior of the organization. Conclusion - Workers will be aware of both the negative and positive implications of executing culture in the organization. Therefore, organization managers must learn that various employees are vital people in their vicinity, and creating a culture that would make a good rapport with them is vital.

In the context of Korean educational research, the number of qualitative research studies has gradually increased since 2000. It has become one of the most important research methods today. The field of math education is no exception to this trend, and qualitative approaches are now becoming one of the main research methods. This increase in qualitative research has contributed to the provision of detailed information about educational practice, but at the same time, the overall level of credibility in the results of qualitative research seems to be lower than that of quantitative research. This study started with the problem consciousness that the number of qualitative studies is increasing in the field of mathematical education, but there is a lack of discussion on the methodology of applying qualitative research methods. In this study, among the papers published in the journal related to mathematical education, papers using a qualitative approach are analyzed focusing on cross-case analysis. Based on the analysis results, the tendency to use qualitative approaches is diagnosed, ways of improving the validity and trustworthiness of qualitative research results in the field of mathematical education are examined, and implications and suggestions are presented.

The purpose of this study was to explore 6 preservice teachers's perceptions and practices on children and teaching while they implemented the Project Approach. Using qualitative research, data were collected from individual and group reflections, interviews, classroom observations, and videotaping. Results showed that preservice teachers recognized the importance of observing children in context and the meaning of learning through the Project Approach. Preservice teachers developed their identities through reflective thinking on their theories and practices.

Despite the important of qualitative research method, little is used to understand dress and culture in Korea. This study proposed qualitative research method to understand deeply cultural aspects of dress. The articles which were selected from J. of Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, The Korean Society of Costume, Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, Home Economics Research Journal, published master's thesis and doctoral dissertation, and interdisciplinary articles were analyzed from 1977～1999. Based on results of the analysis of articles, it was found that qualitative research method was appropriate to understand dress and culture. Many articles were dealt with non-western culture. However, the use of qualitative research method is very well suited to help the researcher understand concepts that are deeply embedded in western culture. Implications pertain to researcher in the area of human behavior and marketing. The importance of dependability and credibility was discussed in qualitative research method.

Qualitative research methodology has been applied with increasing frequency in various fields, including in healthcare research, where quantitative research methodology has traditionally dominated, with an empirically driven approach involving statistical analysis. Drawing upon artifacts and verbal data collected from in-depth interviews or participatory observations, qualitative research examines the comprehensive experiences of research participants who have experienced salient yet unappreciated phenomena. In this study, we review 6 representative qualitative research methodologies in terms of their characteristics and analysis methods: consensual qualitative research, phenomenological research, qualitative case study, grounded theory, photovoice, and content analysis. We mainly focus on specific aspects of data analysis and the description of results, while also providing a brief overview of each methodology's philosophical background. Furthermore, since quantitative researchers have criticized qualitative research methodology for its perceived lack of validity, we examine various validation methods of qualitative research. This review article intends to assist researchers in employing an ideal qualitative research methodology and in reviewing and evaluating qualitative research with proper standards and criteria.

Redesign of business processes still attracts a lot of interest. There have been a variety of quantitative approaches to analyze of business process. However, to examine and determine the quality-focused characteristics of the business process, a qualitative approach should be deployed. This paper introduces a qualitative approach process analysis, especially adopted the concept of the emotional engineering which is used in the area of the product design. To analyze the qualitative aspect of the business process, the emotional adjectives for the business process are used. The proposed methodology enables to determine which of business process is better or not in a more intuitive way.

본 연구의 목적은 질적 연구방법 교과목의 교육내용에 관한 기초자료를 제시하여 문헌정보학 대학원 과정의 질적 연구방법 교과목 개발에 일조하고자 한다. 국내 대학원에서 개설하고 있는 76편의 질적 연구방법 교과목 강의계획서의 내용분석을 통하여 질적 연구방법의 교육 경향을 도출하였다. 이를 근거로 문헌정보학 교육을 위한 핵심내용으로 질적 연구패러다임, 연구설계, 다양한 질적 연구 유형, 자료수집과 분석의 다양성, 글쓰기, 질적 연구의 평가준거를 제시하고 교수전략을 논하였다. 좋은 질적 연구를 수행하고 개발하기 위해서는 순환적, 창조적, 성찰적인 연구 실제가 가능하도록 교육해야 할 것이다. 이를 위해서는 질적 연구의 토대로서 질적 연구의 다양한 패러다임과 철학적 이론적 전통을 이해하는 것이 선행되어야 한다. 질적 연구자는 자신의 질적 입장(qualitative stance)을 인식하고 질적 연구를 행하는 것이 매우 중요하다.

In the previous e-government studies, there was no study in which the ambitious problem of assessing the expected performance of an e-government software when it is adopted in other country. This study was motivated to propose a new method to resolve this research question. With using the KIPONet (Korean Intellectual Property Office Net) as a target e-government software, which has been successfully implemented and operated by the Republic of Korea government since Jan 1999 for the purpose of managing the intellectual property rights (IPRs), we propose a Hybrid Qualitative Reasoning (HQR) approach to predicting the expected performance of the KIPONet. The main recipes of the HQR are that the HQR considers causal relationships existing among both qualitative and quantitative variables of the KIPONet, and that uncertainties embedded in some variables are handled by using Monte Carlo mechanism. The application of the proposed HQR to predicting the expected performance of the KIPONet results in statistically significant outcomes with 95% confidence level.
