  • In this paper, we design the sliding correlator SS transceiver which supports short message service. We also analyze the PN code acquisition circuit that is essential for spread spectrum receiver. Using Maxplus II tool provided by altera Co., Ltd, we have designed PN code generator, and sliding correlator for PN code acquisition. Then, they have been made into FPGA by way of EPM7064SLC44-10 - a chip of Altera Co., Ltd. Additionally, we have designed delay clock circuit which is faster than the clock of Tx PN clock, designed switching circuit to control the clock rate and data demodulation circuit. The performance of the transceiver is evaluated from the experimental results. Especially, the performance of PN code acquisition accomplished by sliding correlator which is very important to evaluate spread spectrum receiver is evaluated with the comparison of the lock states.

  • We investigated the qualitive and quantitative properties in EEG signal which responds to auditory stimulus with increaing the sound-cutting frequency from 2 Hz to 20 Hz by 2 Hz step units, by chaotic dynamics. To bigin with, general chaotic properties such as fractal mechanism, 1 If frequency spectrum and positive Lyapunov exponent are discussed in EEG signal. For evoked potential with given auditory stimulus, the route to chaos by bifurcation diagram and the changes in geometrical property of Poincare sections of 2-dimensional psedophase space is observed. For that containing spontaneous potential, seen as the random background signal, the chaotic attractors in 3-dimensional phase space are found containing the same infomation as the above mentioned evoked potential. Finally the chinges of Lyapunov exponent by various sound-cutting frequencies of stimulus and by the various spatial positions (occipital region) in a brain surface to be measured, are illustrated meaningfully.

  • NMR study has been used for measuring precise quantity of the amorphous phase in the $Si_3N_4$powder. Care must be taken to allow the $^{29}$Si nuclear spin system to fully relax between pulses in order to make the signals proportional to the number of nuclei in each phase. $^{29}$Si MAS spectrum was decomposed into the three spectra of $\alpha$-, $\beta$-, and amorphous $Si_3N_4$assuming pseudo-Voigt function. Moreover, the Rietveld analysis of the powder X-ray diffraction data was performed to measure quantity of crystalline phases as $\alpha/\beta$ ratio.

  • $NaAl(OH)_2CO_3$was synthesized using colloidal earth (Allophane) as the starting material and some of its were studied in detail. It was found that Dawsonite was formed in the pH range (pH 12.5~12.0) that the concentration of $HCO_3^-$ was just begun to increase and the presence of $HCO_3^-$ in the product was clarified from the infrared absorption spectrum. The chemical formular of Dawsonite was therefore presumed as $NaAlO (OH) HCO_3$. From toahhe results of X-ray powder diffraction, both peaks at 5.7 $\AA$ and 2.8 $\AA$ were observed, and fibrous crystalline structure was observed from electron micrograph and also found from the microscopic electron diffraction at 5.7 $\AA.$ Therefore the fibrous axis was considered as =Al=O2=Al=O2=Al=(*image) direction. True specific gravity of Dawsonite was 2.44 and its porosity was 91.4%. It was practically insoluble in water, but decomposed in the boiling water to form Pseudo Boehmite. Stable pH range of Dawsonite was about 4.5~11.5. From the results of D.T.A. and T.G.A., it was observed that $CO_2$was liberated at $350^{\circ}C$, and $H_2O$ at $650^{\circ}C$, and converted into strongly hygroscopic $NaAlO_2$, which was easily decomposed in water into $\beta-Al(OH)_3(Bayerite)$ and NaOH.

  • Low viscosity aromatic hyperbranched polyester epoxy resin (HTBE) was synthesized by the reaction between epichlorohydrin (ECH) and carboxyl-end hyperbranched polyester (HTB) which was prepared from inexpensive materials $A_2$ (1,4-butanediol glycol, BEG) and $B_3$ (trimellitic anhydride, TMA) by pseudo one-step method. The molar mass of the HTB was calculated from its acid value by "Recursive Probability Approach". The degree of branching (DB) of the HTB was characterized by model compounds and $^1H$ NMR-minus spectrum technology, and the DB of the HTB was about $0.47{\sim}0.63$. The viscosity and epoxy equivalent weight of the HTBE were $3,600{\sim}5,000\;cp$ and lower than 540 g/mol respectively. The reaction mechanism and structure of the $AB_2$ monomer, HTB and HTBE were investigated by MS, $^1H$ NMR and FTIR spectra technology. The molecular size of HTBE is under 8.65 nm and its shape is ellipsoid-like as determined by molecular simulation.

  • This paper proposes a novel method for acoustically and wirelessly transmitting data underwater with a high transmission rate. The method uses the most promising physical layer and multiple access technique (i.e., the code division multiple channel access technique) to divide the channel into subchannels. Data is transmitted through these subchannels. The codes are pseudo-random noise (PN) sequences. In the spread-spectrum technique, a signal such as electrical, electromagnetic, acoustic signal generated in a particular bandwidth is deliberately spread in the frequency domain, which results in a signal with a wider bandwidth. This paper reviews the possibility of application of the direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) technique in an underwater system using MATLAB. As the result of our review, we recognize that the DS-CDMA technique can be applied to underwater environments.

  • Activated carbon was synthesized from coconut shells. The Brunauer, Emmett and Teller surface area of the synthesized activated carbon was found to be 1640 m2/g with a pore volume of 1.032 cm3/g. The average pore diameter of the activated carbon was found to be 2.52 nm. By applying the size-strain plot method to the X-ray diffraction data, the crystallite size and the crystal strain was determined to be 42.46 nm and 0.000489897, respectively, which indicate a perfect crystallite structure. The field emission scanning electron microscopy image showed the presence of well-developed pores on the surface of the activated carbon. The presence of important functional groups was shown by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectrum. The adsorption of methyl orange onto the activated carbon reached 100% after 12 min. Kinetic analysis indicated that the adsorption of methyl orange solution by the activated carbon followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic mechanism (R2 > 0.995). Therefore, the results show that the produced activated carbon can be used as a proper adsorbent for dye containing effluents.

  • Joint time-frequency images of the broadband acoustic echoes of six fish species were obtained using the smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution (SPWVD). The acoustic features were extracted by changing the sliced window widths and dividing the time window by a 0.02-ms interval and the frequency window by a 20-kHz bandwidth. The 22 spectrum amplitudes obtained in the time and frequency domains of the SPWVD images were fed as input parameters into an artificial neural network (ANN) to verify the effectiveness for species-dependent features related to fish species identification. The results showed that the time-frequency approach improves the extraction of species-specific features for species identification from broadband echoes, compare with time-only or frequency-only features. The ANN classifier based on these acoustic feature components was correct in approximately 74.5% of the test cases. In the future, the identification rate will be improved using time-frequency images with reduced dimensions of the broadband acoustic echoes as input for the ANN classifier.

  • This paper is concerned with the implementation of power line communication system with 9.6Kbps. This system is suitable to establish the smart home using the power line having been installed in house. In the suggested power line communication system, we use the chirp signal with a linearity and spread spectrum frequency band of 100KHz~200KHz. We had the performance experiment for the implementation system. The experiment was achieved in the pseudo load network similar to real circumstance of power line communication. As the result, the communications under the circumstance were accomplished satisfactorily. We confirmed that the suggested 9.6Kbps power line communication system with the Chirped-SS method had the performance enough to commercialize the smart home.

  • Succinic semialdehyde reductase, one of key enzyme of GABA shunt in CNS, is inactivated by o-phthalaldehyde, The inactivation followed pseudo first-order kinetics, and the second-order rate constant for the inactivation process was 28 M$\^$-1/s$\^$-1/ at pH 7.4 and 25$^{\circ}C$. The absorption spectrum(λ$\_$max/=377nm), fluorescence exitation(λ$\_$max/=340nm) and fluorescence emission spectra (λ$\_$max/=409nm) were consistent with the formation of an isoindole derivative in the catalytic site between a cysteine and a lysine residues about 3${\AA}$ apart. The substrate, succinic semialdehyde, did not protect the enzymatic activity against inactivation, whereas the coenzyme, NADPH, protected against o-phthalaldehyde induced inactivation of the enzyme. About 1 isoindole group per moi of the enzyme was formed following complete loss of the enzymatic activity. These results suggest that the amino acid residues of the enzyme participating in reaction with o-phthalaldehyde more likely residues at or near the coenzyme binding site.
