  • This study was conducted to establish the effects of subjective body-forming perception on weight-controlling behavior and weight loss, and to suggest the need for proper information and education. Using the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in the 6th period (2013-2015), 6,238 women aged 19 and over who have a body mass index of $18.5-25kg/m^2$ were analyzed. As a result, the higher the level of education and income level, the higher they were perceived to be obese, the more they chose to lose exercise and diet in order to lose weight across the board. The weight loss effort rate was higher in the obese body type recognition group, but the body weight type was the highest in the one year body weight change group (p < .001). As a result, subjective perception of body shape affected not only weight control behavior but also weight change (p < .001). Accordingly, it is necessary to have a systematic education on healthy weight-controlling behaviors, proper body image, and healthy body type recognition.

  • This study was conducted to recognize the need for diet and nutrition education to correct body-shape and eating habits that lead to eating disorders in college students. The relationship between diet and obesity was confirmed. Approximately 405 (male 46.4%, female 53.6%) students were evaluated by questionnaire in September 2014. The statistical program SAS (ver. 4.3) was used to evaluate the Chi-squared, F and T-value. The correlation between eating disorder risk and eating habits was evaluated by Pearson's correlation. Body type recognition was classified into nine steps up the body fatty (9) to skinny (1) to show their body. Eating disorder risk (KEAT-26) was composed of F1 (attachment factors for weight loss), F2 (attachment factors for binge eating, and food), and F3 (adjustment factor to eating their will. The risk of eating disorders in male 73.4% of low risk, in female 61.3% (p<0.05). According to body mass index, underweight groups recognized in the normal weight (53.7%), normal weight group was in overweight (29.1%) (p<0.001). According to body-type, the overweight group had a higher risk of eating disorders (68.2%). The KEAT-26 showed that the overweight and obese group were high-risk in F1 & F2, while the underweight group was high-risk in F3 (p<0.001). Recognized overweight showed the dangers of eating disorders, proper recognition of body-type and body mass index required. Tendency to seek a balanced diet was associated with eating disorders, no-imposed adequate diet for nutritional education would be made. Proper nutrition education for males is needed depending on the increased incidence of male eating disorders.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the gap in perceived importance-performance between dietitians and food service workers regarding school food service sanitation and to analyze items that should be given priority for improvement. Data were collected by 440 food service workers and 71 dietitians in Gyeongbuk province. All statistical analyses were conducted using the SAS package program (version 8.2 for Windows) for descriptive analysis, t-test, and importance-performance analysis (IPA). According to the performance analysis, there were significant differences between dietitians and food service workers in 18 out of the 20 items. In all of 18 items, the evaluated performance scores according to the food service workers were higher than those of the dietitians. In addition, the results of IPA confirmed the following areas as improvement priorities: proper hand washing of food service workers, cleanliness of trays and utensils, monitoring of temperature of refrigerated/frozen foods and quality of the food materials during inspection, proper washing and disinfection of raw vegetables and fruits and maintenance of CCP records, and control of food holding temperature and methods. In conclusion, dietitians should perform education about sanitation management items that have low perceived importance and should make a plan to improve sanitation management after understanding the gap in perceived importance-performance between dietitians and food service workers.

  • The new national K-12 Information subject curriculum which will be effective in year 2010 includes algorithm and programming sections. Programming languages in K-12 are more effective the Educational Programming Language (EPL) than general language, because it focuses on developing problem solving ability rather than training a programmer. Therefore, it is necessary to study for suitable EPL in Korean K-12 curriculum. In this study, we studied and analyzed various types of EPLs available and strategies to apply them to the new national curriculum. First of all, we chose 26 educational programming languages and analyzed their characteristics and functions. Also, we investigated associations between key factors of the new Information curriculum and each language and suggested a proper language for their students' level. Finally, we considered possible problems and suitability to Korean K-12 students. The result of this study help us to choose what is the proper EPL and to consider applicability and criteria of EPLs.

  • In Nepal, unemployment and underemployment rate is very high among the youth between 15-24 ages. Generally people tend to discourage acquisition of skills for a career. Access to skill training is limited, especially for the poor, women, and disadvantaged, and the quality of skills training is variable and often not linked to market needs. Strengthening the technical education and vocational training (TEVT) sector to deliver more relevant and market oriented training is essential. To improve the country's pool of technical skilled manpower and unemployment problem, the government has attempted various programs in the last two decades to institutionalize technical education and vocational training. These had initially mixed results mainly due to poor organization and management of the TEVT sector, lack of proper linkage between the training programs and the needs of the labor market, lack of proper equipment and instructional materials and inadequately trained instructors. Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) as a leading organization in TEVT sector of Nepal should focus on community-based vocational trainings for the purpose of reducing poverty in grassroots level addressing excluded and marginalized groups. It is a big challenge as well as opportunity for CTEVT and TEVT professionals.
