Purpose As crowdfunding is a relatively recent phenomenon, determinants of successful crowdfunding with empirical data have been under-researched. Consequently, we examine the role of information- and behavior-based social interaction on the performance of crowdfunding projects, while investigating the motivational factor of goal achievement. Design/methodology/approach From February to August 2016, we collected panel data on 154 crowdfunding projects, which completed fundraising successfully on Tumblbug, a reward-based crowdfunding platform in Korea. In this study, we examine the roles of information-based social interaction (e.g., sharing information on a crowdfunding project) and behavior-based social interaction (e.g., following other investors' behavior) on successful crowdfunding. Additionally, we investigate whether the motivation of goal achievement moderates the relationship between social interaction and performance of crowdfunding projects or not. Findings We find that the number of times a crowdfunding project is shared has a positive influence on its performance, as does the number of project backers. Furthermore, we confirm that goal achievement motivation moderates the effects of information- and behavior-based social interaction on the performance of crowdfunding projects.

Building a large-scale testbed for Future Internet is very important to evaluate a new protocol and new network architecture designed by clean-slate approach. In Korea, new Future Internet testbed project, called FIRST (Future Internet Research for Sustainable Testbed), has been started since Mar. 2009 to design and test new protocols. This project is working together with ETRI and 5 universities. The FIRST@PC is to implement a virtualized hardware-accelerated PC-node by extending the functions of NetFPGA card and build a Future Internet testbed on the KOREN and KREONET for evaluating newly designed protocols and interesting applications. In this paper, we first briefly introduce FIRST@PC project and explain a 'MAC in IP Capsulator' user-space program using raw-socket in Linux to interconnect OpenFlow enabled switch sites on the KOREN and KREONET. After that, we address test results for TCP throughput performance for varying packet size. The test results show that the software based capsulator can support a reasonable bandwidth performance for most of applications.
TYME is an interactive typography program based on the ephemeral nature of time. It is a text based poetic tool, built with Processing. This project is presented as a performance that utilizes a computer with a display screen, a projector, and speakers. As the user types, white characters appear, flow on the score on the screen and trigger jazz sounds, then characters disappear into black space in several seconds on the screen like smoke. Typography from this invented instrument is evocative and wistful, and allows the user to associate with ephemeral time. While typing the characters as though playing an instrument at intervals of time, the user can freeze the motion and print out or save otherwise fleeting moment with a button. I intend to contain both characteristics: the amorphous shape of smoke and the elusive attribute of smoke for the expression of intangible and ephemeral time. Every alphabetic shape is derived from the video dips that I shot of smoke. The resulting alphabetic images are then programmed using the Processing scripting language and which can then be typed on the screen with a keyboard. TYME could be a model as a project that reflects the unfixed quality of digital typography, and as a design approach for interactive expressive typography by scripting code. This project also represents the characteristics of typographic play, which can be realized in an computational environment like this model.

Lean concept is management philosophy that defines a customer's value and eliminates wasteful and impeditive factors. Management philosophy of Lean in the construction industry is referred to as "Lean Construction". Now this concept has expanded to achieve effective productivity during the design phase. Currently the norm of the domestic design process has been Point-based Design(PBD). It involves selecting a single structurally-feasible design option early and then refining that single design as more information becomes available throughout the design process. This single design is then re-worked until a solution is found that is feasible for all parties. On the contrary, Set-based Design(SBD) is based on lean processes to eliminate waste and improve project productivity. It focuses on keeping the design space as open as long as possible, to allow "subdesign" to advance and not labeling them as secondary in importance. Preserving the maximum number of feasible designs as long as possible reduces the likelihood that rework will be necessary and allows all project participants to utilize their unique expertise to make the project successful. This study proposes that the design methodology of minimizing waste and increasing productivity through SBD of AHP, one of the decision making process so as to compare PBD with SBD and tries to find decision making process and then suggest that application methodology through performs case study of SBD process.
The trends of Green growth and environmentally-friendliness came to be the key development indicator for sustaining global environment for the future. Korean government reflected these trends in the main flows of the national development index. Korean construction industry is concentrating investment on fields related to these trends such as technologies for carbon dioxide deduction, materials or products for environmentally-friendly building and alternative energy development, as well. However, efforts to follow these trends during the construction process as a step for production phrase are not being considered enough. In this study, we analysed current status and points to be improved of on-site environment management by surveying major project owners and representatives of the environmental affairs in the leading companies of those fields. Also, we suggested organizational structure and operation model as a solution for enhancing environmentally-friendliness for systematic approach to manage on-site environment in public construction sites. In addition to these solutions, further approaches such as shifting paradigm of project owners and contractors, securing workforce and practical budget for efficient management activities, developing environmental management manuals, setting standards for evaluation of activities are needed for the stable settlement of on-site environmental management.

To achieve economic efficiency in a basin flood mitigation planning, it is important to determine optimal sizes of investment alternatives. Investment alternative means decision proposals composed with one more individual proposals, and it is not easy to determine an optimal one because there are so many individual proposals. This study aims to propose the approach of determining the optimal project size for raising dam height. This study applies two scenarios to determine investment alternatives for the 4 dams in the Yeongsan River basin. 'Scenario1' calculates flood mitigation for each individual proposal. And 'Scenario2' calculates that for each investment alternative composed with one more individual proposals. As the results, 'Scenario2' is better than 'Scenario1' for selecting a economically optimal dam height considering watershed conditions comprehensively.

The Korea government has recently announced "A Master Plan for Smart Education", including application of digital textbooks and composition of education system using cloud computing. Our education system in future circumstance, over the conventional e-learning methods, needs the smart education solutions which enable students to study and communicate on various types of devices. The ongoing government project related with the digital textbook has been performed as mid- and long-term goals, whereas PDF-based e-textbook project, similar to e-book model and, has been already completed for the short-term goal. For the purpose of improved future smart education circumstance, however, a specific strategy is required in the following areas: flexibility of format conversion and independency of original text sources among the multiple device platforms. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a standardization scheme for e-textbook format based on e-book structure. To do this, we survey trends in e-book technologies, and research on standardization of e-book format for digitalization of textbooks, based on the analysis of existing textbooks. Moreover, we produce an example e-book content using our proposed standard method. As a result, our approach can be applied to the future smart education circumstance, and we may say that it will be efficiently applicable to the long-term digital textbook project.

This study is a qualitative research using focus group interviews with disabled people and their families to understand the unmet healthcare needs perceived themselves and to analyze the experiences of 'The 2nd pilot project for primary care for people with disabilities', from 9 to 17 February 2021. The subjects of the study was the disabled who can express their opinions (group 1) or the guardians of the subjects who can not express their opinions (group 2). The participants were interviewed for about 100 minutes for each group once or twice. As a result of this study, the factors regarding unmet healthcare needs were extracted in subject, provider, institutional, and socio-cultural aspects. Further, the factors resolved and unresolved by the pilot project were extracted. Based on the results, we can recommend that the expanded application to the visiting service, inclusion of doctors from various departments, multidisciplinary approach including physical or occupational therapists, minimizing disconnection among the hospitals and healthcare centers, improvement of service quality by collecting opinions from people with disabilities, and more publicity activities should be applied.
Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) have actively responded to global climate change, and developed and operated the Common Principles for Climate Finance Tracking. They estimate climate finance in a granular manner with a conservative view. In other words, the MDBs track their financing only for those elements or proportions of projects that directly contribute to or promote climate adaptation or mitigation. The MDBs have reported jointly on climate finance since the first edition in 2012, which reported for 2011 and up to the 10th edition in 2021, which reported for 2020. MDBs apply two difference methodologies for adaptation and mitigation. For adaptation, the methodology is based on a context and location specific approach and captures the amounts associated with activities directly linked to vulnerability to climate change. For mitigation, it is evaluated in accordance with a comprehensive list of activities thatreduce greenhouse gas emissions. The result of climate risk assessment is one of the major due diligence items for MDBs alongside with that of environmental and social impact assessment. Under the circumstance that many countries endeavor to deal with climate change at project level, it is meaningful to understand how MDBs have addressed climate change issues in their project approval process. This would be a good reference to establish a methodology for responding to climate change and to expand scope of environmental and social impact assessment.

Of increasing global popularity is the multi-dimensional use and development of cities to address land use and urban issues caused by high urban density and challenging topography. In Korea, the city of Busan has a large proportion of mountainous areas, and the Gyeongbu Line that runs through the city's center has been interrupting this urban area for over 117 years. Because a lack of usable land is hindering the development of the city, introducing a multi-dimensional approach to urban development is seen as important. Accordingly, the Gyeongbu Line underground project is attempting to solve the problem of disconnection of Busan's city center and increase the amount of usable land for varied multi-dimensional use. In this study, by conducting a preference survey among those who live near the underground project sites of the Gyeongbu Line stations in Busan, the planned use of each available land arearesulting from the multi-dimensional development of railroadsand railway stations was investigated. However, in order to further the results of the survey, legal and institutional support is needed. There are limits to the multi-dimensional use of land, such as the lack of interconnection between individual laws and the lack of specific guidelines for multi-dimensional development.
