  • The performance of the facial recognition system is determined by many technical factors. Further, most of the technical factors have been realized or are still in continued research. The recognition rate has a great influence on performance not only by technical factors but also by other factors. However, researchers are trying to improve the recognition rate by focusing only on technical factors. The mechanism of recognizing is to compare a face image obtained by photography to an already stored face image and determine the score of the similarity. However, if the photographed image is damaged by external light, even a system with a good algorithm will fail to recognize it. Therefore, it is important to prevent the disturbance of light entering from the outside, so it should be blocked, but the camera will not work without light. Thus, it is proposed that a method to secure the external light but block the disturbance of light that affects photography. A method of blocking disturbance light is to use a polarization filter. There are three polarization methods: circular polarization, linear polarization, and elliptical polarization. In this paper, an experiment was performed to overcome disturbance of light using only a circularly polarized filter. In addition, a lighting system that reproduces disturbance light was provided for the experiment, and light of varying intensities and angles was installed to affect the face recognition camera. As a result of actual application, it was determined that a very improved recognition performance in various disturbance light environments.

  • Background: PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD) had a great impact on health care workers during the COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019, COVID-19). Better knowledge of the prevalence of PTSD and its risk factors is a major public health problem. This study was conducted to assess the prevalence and important risk factors of PTSD among medical staff during the COVID-19. Methods: The databases were searched for studies published during the COVID-19, and a PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis) compliant systematic review (PROSPERO-CRD 42021278970) was carried out to identify articles from multiple databases reporting the prevalence of PTSD outcomes among medical staff. Proportion random effect analysis, I2 statistic, quality assessment, subgroup analysis, and sensitivity analysis were carried out. Results: A total of 28 cross-sectional studies and the PTSD results of doctors and nurses were summarized from 14 and 27 studies: the prevalences were 31% (95% CI [confidence interval, CI]: 21%-40%) and 38% (95% CI: 30%-45%) in doctors and nurses, respectively. The results also showed seven risks (p < 0.05): long working hours, isolation wards, COVID-19 symptoms, nurses, women, fear of infection, and pre-existing mental illness. Two factors were of borderline significance: higher professional titles and married. Conclusion: Health care workers have a higher prevalence of PTSD during COVID-19. Health departments should provide targeted preventive measures for medical staff away from PTSD.

  • COVID-19 struck labor markets around the world, exposing and exacerbating the gender inequalities within the human capital structure. The last, in its turn, jeopardizes the return of the national economies to the growth trajectory undermined by pandemic impact. The authors assume that COVID-19 disproportionately affected the employment rates of women and men, which led to increased gender inequality in the labor market, which, in turn, affected GDP growth rates in the EU. To prove this hypothesis two research questions are discovered: 1) whether there was a different correlation between the number of COVID-19 cases in the EU and indicators of the labor market for women and men; and 2) whether there was a link between the growth of gender inequality in the EU labor market and the GDP dynamics in these countries. The analysis of the correlation between the number of cases of COVID-19 and indicators of the labor market in the EU revealed faster growth of women's unemployment rates compared to men's ones as the COVID-19 incidence unfolded. Multiple linear regression and factor analysis have been used to investigate the influence of gender inequality in the labor market on GDP dynamics. Despite the methodological limitations, the proposed model is both a sound argument and an analytical basis in favor of gender-responsive economic recovery backed by the systematic and consistent gender equality policy of a government.

  • Under the Act on Medical Technicians, etc. in Korea, medical technicians are supposed to perform their duties under the guidance of a doctor or dentist. However, considering the actual work behavior, domestic and international trends, and the level of education of medical technicians, professionalism must be recognized. Such a professional and independent operating system must guarantee the autonomy of medical technicians, and it can be said that changes are necessary in law. In other words, it is necessary to change to "request and prescription" rather than "supervision" according to the needs of the times when the concept of "request" and "cooperation" is applied in many countries and an excellent curriculum. These changes can be called the demands of the times and changes for the improvement of medical services and social contribution.

  • Background: Several factors contribute to shoulder pain, including abnormal neck posture, repeated use of the upper limbs, work involving raising the upper limbs above the head, and the effects of vibration. However, previous study has reported that constant vibration exposure could impact improvement of the stability on joints related with muscle recruitment and activation. For this difference reason, we need to verify for the complex study of relationship with repetitive upper limb movements, poor head posture, and constant vibration exposure. Objects: Our study was made to investigate the influence of vibration exposure on the shoulder muscle activity during forward-head and over-head tasks with isometric shoulder flexion. Methods: In a total of 22 healthy subjects, surface electromyography (EMG) data were collected from shoulder muscles (upper/lower trapezius, serratus anterior, and lumbar erector spinae) on tasks (neutral-head task [NHT], forward-head task [FHT], and over-head task [OHT]) with and without vibration exposure. Results: In all tasks, the EMG data of the upper trapezius and serratus anterior significantly increased with vibration exposure (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the EMG data of the lumbar erector spinae significantly increased with vibration exposure in the NHT and FHT (p < 0.05). Conclusion: We suggest that continuous vibration exposure during the use of hand-held tools in the tasks could be associated with harmful effects in the workplace. Lastly, we clinically need to examine the guidelines regarding the optimal posture and vibration exposure.
