Environmental Regulation and Technological Constraint (환경규제와 기술제약 -한국지역제조업을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this paper is to measure the change of the production efficiency which may happen when environmental regulation incurs technological constraint in the process of production, and to compute the opportunity cost of pollution reduction with the lost products based on the change of efficiency. The patterns of production technoloy in the paper are divided into the technologies of strong disposability and weak disposabilty to grasp the effect of the technological constraint due to the environmental regulation. The endowment of the technolgical constraints in the process of production is considered to bring the greatest restriction on firm's production. When the environmental efficiencies of Korean regional manufactures were measured with linear programming model, the lost products related with the constraint of production technology that environmental regulation incurred, was average 148.1 billion dollar per year(5.87% of one year overall products) for total manufactures in 1991~1998. The ratio of the lost products for total products was spread from 0.78% to 1l.08%. The average lost products of 15 regions were changed from 4.66% to 18.35% of total products. Generally the environmental efficiency index of regional manufactures being decreased continuously since 1991, it is estimated that the environmental performance of Korean manufactures has been more and more deteriorating.

A judgment algorithm of the acoustic signal for the automatic defective manufactures detection in press process (음향방출 신호를 이용한 프레스 불량품 자동 판단 알고리즘)

  • A laborer always watched a process of production carefully but defective manufactures were inspected after press process. These inspections made a waste of human power and defective manufactures could make a serious damage of press mold. Therefore, AE(Acoustic Emission) system was introduced to prevention of the damage of the press molds, to a real time detection of defective manufactures and to save human power. AE system was introduced to solve this problem which is a detecting defective manufacture on real time and to prevent the damage of the press mold. In this research we get acoustic emission signal in accordance with weight and processing method of press by using AE sensor, Preamplifier, AE board signal board which occurs press processing and it analyzed various signal through using CMD8 software on the time. From the result, we found that the intensity and shape of the signal were changed according to the weight and processing type of the press. By using this special algorithm, it can judge the acoustic signal which occurs from press on real time.

Rule-based Process Control System for multi-product, small-sized production (다품종 소량생산 공정을 위한 규칙기반 공정관리 시스템)

  • There have been many problems to apply SPC(Statistical Process Control) which is a traditional process control technology to the process of multi-product, small-sized production because a machine in the process manufactures small numbers, but various kinds of products. Therefore, we need the new process control system that can flexibly control the process by setting up the SPEC rules and the KNOWHOW rules. The SPEC rule contains the combination of diverse conditions to specify the characteristics of various products. The KNOWHOW rule is based on engineers' know-how. The study suggests the Rule-base Process Control that can be optimized to the multi-product, small-sized production. It was validated in the process of semiconductor production.

  • Vaccines, especially for viruses, have been produced from egg-based manufacturing process. The method is simple and easy to set up the manufacturing process. However, the method has many problems in quality control, limit of manufacturing capacity, and ethical issues. Over the last decade, an alternative method, which manufactures vaccines using cell culture-based system, has received great attention to overcome the problems in egg-based vaccine production. This article examines current status and perspectives of cell culture-based vaccine production.

  • Quality assurance in the process of manufacturing high strengh bolt sets used in the frictional joints of structures in one of important concern to users as well as to manufactures. In case of occurrences of either defective or low-quality products, even if they are quite rare, some systematic means of localizing the cause-characteristics and matching to corresponding production process is necessary. Control chart of torque factor is the primary indicatir in finding defectiveness of the products. Use of correlation diagrams ofnhardness of the bolt set presents in part a way of screening the cause. Retest data of the bolt set provide additional ideas of localizing the cause, for which theoretical background is presented in this regard. A process-characteristics matrix relating the causes of low quality to the corresponding process of manufacturing, which is of prime importance for the feedback control of production, is also proposed. Finally general features of control to assure quality of the set is described.

  • A shipyard is an Engineer To Order (ETO) company that designs and manufactures new products when orders are placed. Various tasks are concurrently performed, thereby making process management considerably important. It is particularly important to plan and control production activities because production constitutes the largest part of the overall process. Therefore, this study focuses on the development of a production planning system based on an Advanced Planning System (APS). An APS is an integrated planning system that targets supply chain processes in accordance with the principles of hierarchical planning. In this study, a Supply Chain Planning Matrix (SCP-Matrix), which is used as a guideline for APS development, is designed through analysis of shipyard cases. Then, we define the process in detail, starting from long-term production plan as the initial application, and design and implement a long-term production planning system using a component-based development.

  • SPC(Statistical Process Control) provides objective means of controlling quality in any transformation processes by analyzing statistically data gathered in the process.   • This research has a purpose of constructing the data monitoring system that makes two-tier work state in the brick production factory to unification by reusing cinder. Monitoring system automatically manages data by using data managing processes such as a state managing process, a location managing process, a badness managing process, a circumstances managing process. In this research, the data management monitoring system manufactures state information of each processes received from RFID and transmits them to data monitoring system. Analyzed data through this system reuses the cinder, so it can effectively manage the production process of the factory which produces bricks through processing automation, faulty-ratio minimization, real-time monitoring and loading managing.

  • In case of high-tech process industries such as semiconductor and TFT-LCD manufactures, fault of a virtually finished product that is value-added one, since it has gone throughout the most of processes, may give rise to quality cost nearly amount to its selling price and can be a main cause that decreases the efficiency of manufacturing process. This paper proposes a real-time dispatching algorithm for semiconductor manufacturing process with rework. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, this paper examines the performance of the proposed method by comparing it with that of the existing dispatching algorithms, based on various experimental data.

  • The study is to suggest easier making method of skirts and slacks as to compare production process between manufacturers and references of clothing construct in universities. Skirts and slacks have simple production process and they are basic subjects in clothing construct class. But most references have just contents which are to make basic styles of skirts and slacks made basic materials. Continuous development of new material and variety of style request more efficient and easer making method in the reference of clothing construct. So the making methods of references and manufacturers are compared and analyzed in this study In references, there are many hand work and sub-work because they are for a person who make own clothes. In contrast, manufacturers have to product many variety clothes of good quality for many people and think the production cost of clothes. They use more simple and efficient method that include their know-how to meet changing fashion situation. In making methods of skirts and slacks, differences between references and manufacturer are in sewing of waist band and zippers and location of interlining. Manufacturers use variedly sewing method of waist band according to material and their experience. Especially handling for wrong side inseam of waist band is distinct between references and manufacturers. References have basic and detail work and manufacturers know processing order having even grade work to keep continuous production. The making method of clothes have to change and improve according to the situation. The more useful making method get to include their merits and references need to add more practical method and knowledge.
