The development of the anomia assessment battery based on the psycholinguistic processing (언어심리학을 기반으로 한 명칭성 실어증 평가도구 개발)

  • Anomia, word finding difficulty, is one of the most common feature in aphasia. Previous studies support that the process of picture naming consists of three stages, in the order of the object recognition, semantic, and phonological output stages. Anomic patients have many symptoms and it means that anomia can be sub-divided into several symptom groups. Our anomia assessment battery consists of several parts: (1) picture naming set, (2) picture-word matching task, (3) lexical decision task for mental lexicon damage, (4) naming task for phonological lexicon damage, and (5) semantic decision task. Pictures and words were selected on the basis of usage frequency, semantic category, and word length. We administered this anomia evaluation battery to many anomic aphasics and we subdivided patients into several groups. We hope that our anomia evaluation set is useful and helpful for evaluation anomic aphasics

The Noise Reduction of a DC Motor Using Multi-body Dynamics

  • The DC motor of a vehicle may cause noise and vibration due to high-speed revolution, which can make a driver feel uncomfortable. There have been various studies attempting to solve these problems, mostly focusing on the causes of noise and vibration and a means of preventing them. The CAE methodology is more efficient than a real test for the purpose of looking for various design parameters to reduce the noise and vibration of the DC motor. In this study, a design process for reducing brush noise is presented with the use of a computer model, which is made by using a multi-body dynamics program (DADS). The design parameters to reduce the brush noise and vibration were proposed using a computer model. They were used to reduce the noise and vibration of the DC motor and verified by the test results of the fan DC motor in the vehicle. This method may be applicable to various DC motors.

  • A lot of drawings for pipe construction and installation are needed to construct plant process system on the offshore plant structures. Depending on their scale or complexity, the required number of drawings related pipes sometimes amounts to several hundreds of thousands. Most major shipyards, therefore, have their own system which can automatically depict pipes’ geometric, manufacturing, and BOM(Bill of Material) information on the drawings. However, as the complexity and absolute quantity in the isometric region on the drawings is increased, the information extraction from the customized DB and positioning at the typical locations does not get to be enough to avoid the overlap between geometric contours, labels, and symbols. For this reason, the novel methods to arrange additional annotations without overlaps are presented in the paper. This approach is expected to increase the readability and legibility of the drawing and prevent the human error, and finally decrease the time-consuming and tedious jobs which are unnecessarily required to designers.

  • This paper presents a production planning algorithm for minimizing the costs of production and subcontracting in SCM (supply chain management) environment. In our SCM environment, the several local plants that aye dispersed geographically produce parts and products. In this environment, we have to decide the production volumes of both parts and products considering the BOM (bill-of-material) structure to meet the fixed order quantity or forecasted demand quantity. Each plant produces the specified parts of product with finite production capacity. There exist subcontracting decisions relevant to the production capacity of each plant except the core process plant, and when we use the subcontractor's capacities we should be charged for the fixed subcontracting fees. The objective of this study is to solve the production planning problem, which minimizes the total costs of production, inventory, setup, and subcontracting under constraints of production and subcontracting capacity. For this problem, an integrated production planning model based on the multi-level capacitated lot sizing problem was formulated, and efficient decomposition algorithm was proposed. The experimental investigation shows that the proposed heuristic generates quite good solutions at very low computational costs.

Extraction Solution for the Coupling Coefficient at the Magnetically Coupled Wireless Power Transmission (자계 결합 무선 전력 전송에서의 결합 계수 추출 방법)

  • This paper presented the extraction solution for the coupling coefficient at the magnetically coupled wireless power transmission(WPT) system through the analysis of its equivalent circuit considering the loss. The conventional extraction solution using coupled mode theory is generalized employing the extracted solution considering the load resistance. Consequently, the measuring process of extracting coupling coefficient becomes convenient since the even/odd mode analysis is not necessary. Furthermore, the coupling coefficient obtained from the induced extraction method was in excellent agreement with the coupling coefficient obtained using the ratio of magnetic flux passing through the two loops. The extraction of the accurate coupling coefficient at the magnetically coupled WPT is an essential work to analyze and optimize the WPT system.

The Research of Color Combination Presented in Eco Fashion Design (에코 패션디자인에 나타난 색채 배색 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of the color combination in Eco fashion design. 532 pictures related to eco was collected through Eco brand web sites from 2008 through 2011. The characteristics for analysis include color combination and tone. The method of research is content and statistical analysis. The result of the research is summed up below. First, achromatic color was most frequently presented in Eco fashion. Also monotone color or single color combination were displayed often. Secondly, many dresses were of single color combination and T-shirt items displayed contrast color combination created by luminosity difference. Third, the outcome of comparing seasons was that both seasons presented single color and contrast color combination. The difference between countries proved slight as single color coloration dominated. This considered the process which was non-chemical manufacture for eco-friendly. For the combination of colors, the same coloration with single colors or contrast coloration due to the differences of brightness were presented quite often, generally, the modern image fashion without fancy factors have shown a lot. These results that minimalism trend was included in eco-friendly image.

  • In a liquid rocket engine using hydrocarbon fuels, cooling of the combustion chamber wall is necessary to prevent the combustion chamber wall from melting or structurally deforming due to high heat flux. Among the various methods, regenerative cooling, which uses fuel as a coolant and then injects it into the combustion process, has good performance. This study investigated the heat transfer characteristics of kerosene as a coolant by varying the copper cross-sectional area, the flow rate in the channel, and the current applied to the channel. Convective heat transfer occurred rapidly when the cross-sectional area of the copper channel was small and when the kerosene flow velocity was fast.

  • The multivariate statistical analysis, using the multiple linear regression(MLR), have been applied to analyze and predict the flash points of binary systems. Prediction for the flash points of flammable substances is important for the examination of the fire and explosion hazards in the chemical process design. In this paper, the flash points are predicted by MLR based on the physical properties of pure substances and the experimental flash points data. The results of regression and prediction by MLR are compared with the values calculated by Raoult's law and Van Laar equation.

  • Recently, object-oriented techniques have been used more and more for developments of an information system. But, established object-oriented methodologies are hard to express a business process of various abstract degrees in the analysis level and independent components of the system. They have difficulties in developing a large-scale information system of manufacturing industry such as PDM and CIM. This paper proposes an information system development methodology that imports the object-oriented IDEF0 (OOIDEF0) function model in analysis level. This methodology is made up of requirements gathering, system analysis, system design, and implementation. In requirements gathering level, organization diagram and interview technique are used for input data of OOIDEF0 function model. The OOIDEF0 function model, the interface model and function descriptions are made out in analysis level. Information objects and implementation objects are designed on the basis of the OOIDEF0 function model in design level. The database is built and programming is accomplished in implementation level. In order to prove the consistency and efficiency of the proposed methodology, the PDM system for ship production is modeled and prototyped.

  • Management of the existing traffic network and understanding current traffic conditions is the most important and effective way to solve traffic congestion. This research investigates the status of Korea expressway through the Speed-Flow-Density diagram and finds the best suitable queueing model for each area. Dynamic structure in the queueing model enables us to reflect the structural change of the road in case of traffic congestion. To find the best model and estimate the parameters, we use the Newton-Raphson method. Finally, we examine the road efficiency in view of the optimal speed and density using the conditional distribution of speed and density of a S-F-D diagram.
