A Study on the Measurement of Motion Accuracy for Feed Drive System of Multi-task Machine Tool (복합공작기계의 이송계 운동정밀도 측정의 연구)

  • Recently, the machine tools called multi-task machines, which mounted rotary axes on the table or spindle are used increasingly. Accordingly, multi-task machine tool takes a growing interest on the motion accuracy of feed drive system. In this study, measurement and diagnosis of motion errors ware attempted from circular pattern obtained by using DBB (Double ball bar) device. Those were obtained at both clockwise and counter clockwise motions in mutually perpendicularly intersecting three planes. The reliability of error measurement system for multi-task machine tool was verified by the direct test cutting.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to measure the Young's modulus of carbon nano tube which was manufactured by chemical vapor deposition. We also made the tungsten tip by electrochemical etching process and the carbon nano tube which was detangled through ultra-sonication with isopropyl alcohol was attached to the tungsten tip. This tip which was composed of tungsten tip and carbon nano tube can be used in Young's modulus measurement by applying DC voltage with counter electrode. The attachment process and measurement of the deflection of carbon nano tube was done under optical microscope.

  • This paper proposed efficient manufacturing system using OMM(on-machine measurement) system and OMM operating S/W based 3D modeler. A Developed program connected tool machine with RS232C. It is composed two operating system that touch probe operating and laser displacement sensor operating system. A program for touch probe possible measure considered inspection feature and CAD data. The laser operating program is used inspection for profile. very small hole using installed feature data. This system is applied manufacturing line of mold(cavity, core) also verification of efficiency manufacturing process that production, reduction machining error of each process

  • The purpose of the research is to propose an earned-value indicator for technical performance measurements of an ongoing defense R&D project and the associated measurement, analysis and the implementation process for data collection and usages. Furthermore, the study demonstrates the evidences of benefits and validity of the proposed approach through the enabling tool development and its application examples.

  • On the contrary to the increasing needs of shape qualities, most of quality inspections are carried out by manual or operator's insight. To find the causes of shape inferiority, it is required to gather and analyze the shape measurement data. As a result the winding profile measurement system ($TELE-SCANNER^{(R)}$) is developed to analyze the coiling process and automate the manual measuring process for winding profile of hot-rolled coils. The winding profile measurement system measures and analyzes winding profile shapes of hot-rolled coils, and classifies them into several dominant patterns that are related to normal or abnormal mechanical conditions of down-coiler. The system also contains analysis software to quantify the winding profile shapes and patterns, and to produce statistics to help search the causes of profile shape inferiority.

Estimation of Real Boundary with Subpixel Accuracy in Digital Imagery (디지털 영상에서 부화소 정밀도의 실제 경계 추정)

  • In this paper, an efficient algorithm for estimating real edge locations to subpixel values is described. Digital images are acquired by projection into image plane and sampling process. However, most of real edge locations are lost in this process, which causes low measurement accuracy. For accurate measurement, we propose an algorithm which estimates the real boundary between two adjacent pixels in digital imagery, with subpixel accuracy. We first define 1D edge operator based on the moment invariant. To extend it to 2D data, the edge orientation of each pixel is estimated by the LSE(Least Squares Error)line/circle fitting of a set of pixels around edge boundary. Then, using the pixels along the line perpendicular to the estimated edge orientation the real boundary is calculated with subpixel accuracy. Experimental results using real images show that the proposed method is robust in local noise, while maintaining low measurement error.

  • This research presents both system structure analysis to improve performance of 3D laser scanner, which has time of flight method, and scheme to minimize distance measurement errors during signal process. With the help of reference source, we minimized the instability of electronic signal processing time and possibility of distance measurement errors. Furthermore, it helps easy alignment and accuracy of system by using fiber delay line and coupler.

  • In this study, the advanced on-sided stress wave velocity measurement method was applied to investigate the effects of composition, age and moisture content in concrete. Two concrete specimens that have different composition were used to figure out the change of the Longitudinal and Surface wave velocity due to different composition. The other concrete specimen was cast and the Longitudinal and Surface wave velocity was monitored during curing process. After 28-day old, the effect of moisture content in the concrete specimen to the stress wave velocity is presented in this paper during the time period 43-74 days after casting. For drying process. an aggregate drying oven was used. A conventional ultrasonic through transmission method was used to compare with the results determined by the one-sided method.

  • A new method to fabricate metal electrodes on side wall of the microchannel is presented. Electrical signal can be measured by the metal electrodes on channel side wall when microparticles pass through a polymer microchannel. 3 dimensional metal electrodes on channel side wall could be fabricated by local deposition of metal through a shadowmask and inclined evaporation. The polymer microchannel with side wall electrodes could be precisely aligned onto metal contact patterns on pyrex glass. The impedance measurement test showed possibility of electrical signal measurement using the fabricated device.

  • This paper presents a non-contact inspection system for automatically measuring the thickness of an aircraft wing rip product. In order to conduct the inspection of the wing rib thickness automatically, a non-contact laser displacement sensor, end-effector, and a robot were selected for use. The non-contact type inspection system was evaluated by measuring the measurement deviation of the rotation direction of a C-type yoke end-effector and the transfer direction of a V-slim end-effector. In addition, the non-contact inspection system for wing rib thickness measurements was validated through thickness measurements of a web, flange, and stiffener.
