Management of Water Pumping System in Coastal Area of Jeju City Based on Coastal Landscape (제주시 해안경관을 고려한 해수인수관 관리방안)

  • Water management treatment of coastal region has been an important problem in Jeju city since the distributions of pipeline of the pumping system made a bad view in coastal region. To solve the problem, we observed the pipelines that are on the surface around the coastal region from Tapdong to Doduhang. From the observations, we found that Todong and Dodu areas were not unsightliness because the all pipelines were located in underground. However, the other areas, such area Yongdam, Handugi, Yongdam fishing village, had a serious problem for the coastal landscape view. To solve the problem, at we estimated coastal land color characteristics of Jeju city based on the observation of the pipelines. The estimated color panel shows that the green, blue and grey colors are a dominant factors of the Jeju coastal region. Based on the color panel, we proposed two methods, that is, one is a short time treatment, the other is a long time one. The short is based on the colour treatment, which is pipeline colour changing into surround natural one. The long time is the construction plan design method. Although the later method was very useful in Jeju island. However, it takes a lot of time and money. Therefore, in the situation, the short time is the better than the long time one.

  • A procedure has be developed to optimize the product's tipping position in designing a die face for manufacturing automobile outer panels. Two design requirements are considered in optimizing the tipping position. One is to satisfy that all the points on the product should have a uniform distribution of drawing depths. The other is to guarantee that the user-specified area on the product should first contact with the binder wrap. The problem to satisfy the design requirements described above is analogous to the flatness calculation problem in the area of metrology if some constraints can be imposed. Thus the problem can be solved by the simulated annealing method, which is one of the optimization methods. The developed procedure was tested with the real die face design problem and the usefulness was verified by the diagram of the drawing depth.

  • Nowadays, various researches fulfill in many communication engineering area for B4G (Beyond Forth Generation). Next LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced), MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multi Input Multi Output) method raises to upgrade throughput performance. However, the method of user selection is not decided because of many types and discussions in MU-MIMO system. Many existing methods are powerful for enhancing performance but have various restrictions in practical implementation. Fairness problem is primary restriction in this area. Existing papers emphasis algorithm to increase sum-rate but we introduce an algorithm about dealing with fairness problem for real commercialization implementation. Therefore, this paper introduces new user selection method in MU-MIMO system. This method overcomes a fairness problem in SUS (Semiorthogonal User Selection) algorithm. We can use the method to get a similar sum-rate with SUS and a high fairness performance. And this paper uses a hybrid method with SC-SUS (Superposition Coding SUS) algorithm and SUS algorithm. We find a threshold value of optimal performance by experimental method. We show this performance by computer simulation with MATLAB and analysis that results. And we compare the results with another paper's that different way to solve fairness problem.

  • It is very important to help students learn by examining how well students solve math problems. Therefore, in this study, four methods(error analysis by problem type, schematization analysis, area graph analysis, and broken line graph analysis) were constructed to analyze how the connectivity between concepts of middle school functions affects the problem solving results. The students' learning situation was visually expressed to enable intuitive understanding. This analysis method makes it easy to understand the evaluation results of students. It can help students learn by understanding their learning situation. It will be useful in mathematics teaching and learning as it can help students to monitor their own problems and make a self-directed learning plan.

  • This paper presents a heuristic solution procedure for the quadratic assignment problem, ranking procedure, which can handle the case where not all of the facilities have the same size of area. The ranking procedure is found more efficient than two other existing heuristic procedures from results of computational experience. Based on the out-patients flow pattern and the procedure developed, an improved layout of the three existing general hospitals is developed with the objective of minimizing the total distance travelled by patients in the central and the out-patient clinic.

  • The traveling purchaser problem(TPP) is a generalization of the well-known traveling salesman problem(TSP), which has many real-world applications such as purchasing the required raw materials for the manufacturing factories and the scheduling of a set of jobs over some machines, and many others. TPP also could be extended to the vehicle routing problem(VRP) by incorporating additional constraints such as multi-purchaser, capacity, distance and time restrictions. In the last decade, TPP has received some attention of the researchers in the operational research area. However it has not received the equivalent interest as much as TSP and VRP. Therefore, there does not exist a review of the TPP. The purpose of this paper is to review the TPP and to describe solution procedures proposed for this problem. We also introduce the ILP formulation for the multiple TPP(mTPP) which is generalized type of TPP. We compare the system performance according to change from TPP to mTPP.

  • In this work, we consider a real time optimal control problem of mechanical systems with restrictions for actuators i.e. input restrictions and constraints for the movable area i.e. state constraints. First, we formulate an optimal control problem which evaluates the cost function for a finite time horizon with input restrictions and state constraints of a wheeled vehicle as an example of mechanical systems. In this problem, the differentiability of the cost function is not required and this implies that the problem cannot be solved analytically.   • Nowadays, flooding wast is serious problem to mankind and the endeavour for solving waste problem is performed in connection with environmental problem and natural resource problem. In Korea, there are a lot of movements related to reduction of waste, too. As the solution of these problems, recycling is recommanded and many kinds of recycling technique are devised. In America, military has been playing an important role in recycling area for a long time. This paper is the survey of several articles and working papers about America military's recycling research. We investigated the recycling of water, construction and demolition wastes etc. These research results are very important in real field of military. It is considered our military has to prepare this recycling problem and now it's the right time. All of these can be adapted to our military, commercial companies and civilians through some modification. We suggest that our military should cope with recycling problem more deliberately.

  • Design of location erea(LA) in a cellular network is to partition the network into clusters of cells so as to minimize the cost of location updating and paging. Most research works dealing with the LA design problem assume that the call. arrival rate and mobile flow rate are fixed parameters which can be estimated independently. In this aspect, most Problems addressed so far are deterministic LA design problems(DLADP), known to be NP hard. The mobile flow and call arrival rate are, however, varying with time and should be treated simultaneously because the call arrival rate in a cell during a day is influenced by the change of a population size of the cell. This Paper Presents a new model on IA design problems considering the time-dependent call arrival and mobile flow rate. The new model becomes a stochastic LA design problem(SLADP) because It takes into account the possibility of paging waiting and blocking caused by the changing call arrival rate and finite paging capacity. Un order to obtain the optimal solution of the LA design problem, the SIADP is transformed Into the DLADP by introducing the utilization factor of paging channels and the problem is solved iteratively until the required paging quality is satisfied. Finally, an illustrative example reflecting the metropolitan area, Seoul, is provided and the optimal partitions of a cell structure are presented.
