  • The design of experiment(DOE) is getting more attention in the engineering community since it is easy to understand and apply. Recently, engineering designers are adopting DOE with orthogonal arrays when they want to design products in a discrete design space. In this research, a design flow with orthogonal arrays is defined fur structural design according to the general DOE. The design problem is defined as a general structural optimization problem. Sensitivity information is evaluated by the analysis of variance(ANOVA), and an optimum design is determined from analysis of means(ANOM). Interactions between design variables are investigated to achieve additivity which should be valid in DOE. When strong interactions exit, a method is proposed. Some methods to consider the problem are suggested.

  • In rigid-plastic finite element method, there is a heavy computation time and convergence problem. In this study, revised rigid-plastic finite element method Will be introduced. This method is the way that restrict the convergence interval. In result, convergence problem and computation time due to large non-linearity in the existing numerical analysis method were no longer a critical problem. It is expected that various results from the numerical analysis will give very useful information for the design of tools in sheet metal forming process.

  • An inverse method is introduced to construct the problem for the error analysis of the numerical solution of initial value problem. These problems constructed through this method have a known exact solution, even though analytical solutions are generally not obtainable. The process leading to the exact solution makes use of an initially available approximate numerical solution. A smooth interpolation of the approximate solution is forced to exactly satisfy the differential equation by analytically deriving a small forcing function to absorb all of the errors in the interpolated approximate solution. Using this special case exact solution, it is possible to investigate the relationship between global errors of a candidate numerical solution process and the associated tuning parameters for a given problem. Under the assumption that the original differential equation is well-posed with respect to the small perturbations, we thereby obtain valuable information about the optimal choice of the tuning parameters and the achievable accuracy of the numerical solution.

  • An engineering design problem involving Multi-Disciplinary Analysis(MDA) generally requires a large amounts of CPU time for the entire design process, and therefore Multiple Processing System (MPS) are essential to reduce the completion time. However, when applying conventional parallel processing techniques, all of the CAE S/W required for the MDA should be installed on all the servers making up NIPS because of characteristic of MDA and it would be a great expense in CAE S/W licenses. To solve this problem, we propose a Weight-based Multiqueue Load Balancing algorithm for a heterogeneous MPS where performance of servers and CAE S/W installed on each server are different of each other. To validate the performance, a computational experiments comparing the First Come First Serve algorithm and our proposed algorithm was accomplished.

  • Graded-Index Multimode Optical fibers have recently received a lot of attention as regards their application and lightwave behavior in relation to broadband communication links. Accordingly, this aticle presents a novel lightwave mode analysis that solves the wave equation using a numerical analysis based on an eigenvalue problem method, thereby avoiding the typical complicated Bessel function method. Angular depedences and number of modes were observed as well. Future research implications will be possibly noticed such areas as bending effects and mode coupling analyses thru this research.

  • Tablet product design problem was structured as constrained optimization problem and subsequently solved by multiple regression analysis and Lagrangian method of optimization. Aluminum flufenamate was the drug chosen and microcrystalline cellulose nad starch were the binder and disintegrant, respectivley. The effect of the binder and disintegrant concentration on tablet hardness, friability, volume, in vitro release rate, and urinary excretion rate of drug in human subjects was recorded. Since a reasonably rapid release rate of drug is generally an important objective in the design of solid dosage form, optimization of this parameter was employed in studying the applicability of constrained optimization to a pharmaceutical product design problem. In addition to finding optimal sitivity analysis studies to such problems was also illustratd. It would appear that prediction of the in vivo t$_{50%}$ response from a knowledge of the incitro t$_{50%}$ response can be made fairly accurately for the tablet system used in this study.

  • Product recommender system is one of the most popular techniques for customer relationship management. In addition, collaborative filtering (CF) has been known to be one of the most successful recommendation techniques in product recommender systems. However, CF has some limitations such as sparsity and scalability problems. This study proposes hybrid cluster analysis and case-based reasoning (CBR) to address these problems. CBR may relieve the sparsity problem because it recommends products using customer profile and transaction data, but it may still give rise to scalability problem. Thus, this study uses cluster analysis to reduce search space prior to CBR for scalability Problem. For cluster analysis, this study employs hybrid genetic and K-Means algorithms to avoid possibility of convergence in local minima of typical cluster analyses. This study also develops a Web-based prototype system to test the superiority of the proposed model.

  • The present study deals with the numerical analysis of the symmetric contact problem of two bonded layers resting on an elastic half plane compressed with a rigid punch. In this context, Finite Element Method (FEM) based software called ANSYS and ABAQUS are used. It is assumed that the elastic layers have different elastic constants and heights and the external load is applied to the upper elastic layer by means of a rigid stamp. The problem is solved under the assumptions that the contact between two elastic layers, and between the rigid stamp are frictionless, the effect of gravity force is neglected. To validate the constructed model and obtained results a comparison is performed with the analytical results in literature. The numerical results for normal stresses and shear stresses are obtained for various parameters of load, material and geometry and are tabulated and illustrated.

  • In this study, the elastic plane problem of a layered composite containing an internal or edge crack perpendicular to its boundaries in its lower layer is examined using numerical analysis. The layered composite consists of two elastic layers having different elastic constants and heights. Two bonded layers rest on a homogeneous elastic half plane and are pressed by a rigid cylindrical stamp. In this context, the Finite Element Method (FEM) based software called ANSYS is used for numerical solutions. The problem is solved under the assumptions that the contacts are frictionless, and the effect of gravity force is neglected. A comparison is made with analytical results in the literature to verify the model created and the results obtained. It was found that the results obtained from analytical formulation were in perfect agreements with the FEM study. The numerical results for the stress-intensity factor (SIF) are obtained for various dimensionless quantities related to the geometric and material parameters. Consequently, the effects of these parameters on the stress-intensity factor are discussed. If the FEM analysis is used correctly, it can be an efficient alternative method to the analytical solutions that need time.

The subjects were 210 children ages from 3 to 5 in five day-care center in Incheon city. The SPSS WIN 12.0 Program was used to analyze the collected data. The statistical methods were Frequency, Percentage, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Two-way ANOVA, Correlation analysis, and Canonical Correlation analysis. The major results of this research are summarized as follows: (1) Children's temperament were significantly different by their gender and age. The boys got higher score than girls in adaptability, activity, and total temperament. Girls got higher score than boys in reactivity. The age 3 got higher score than the age 5 in activity and the ages 3, 4 got higher than the age 5 in total temperament. (2) Children's self-regulation were significantly different by their age. The children who were older got higher scores in self-regulation ability. (3) Children's problems behavior were significantly different by their gender and age. The boys got higher score than girls in anxiety behavior, aggressive behavior, hyperactive/distractive behavior, and total problem behavior. And the ages 3, 4 got higher score than the age 5 in anxiety behavior and hyperactive/distractive behavior. The age 4 got higher score the ages 3, 5 in aggressive behavior and the age 3 got higher score the ages 4, 5 in total problem behavior.
