  • To understand biosafety's current situation in laboratory animal research and risk factors affecting occupational health. Compliance surveys were conducted by questionnaire via Questionnaire Star (an application app on the Internet) in Chinese. Thirty-nine anonymous questionnaires were collected. The surveyed institution has established 24 types of ABSL (Animal Biosafety Laboratory) and biosafety management organizations and systems equipped with safety equipment. Our study also suggests that the principal of the laboratory establishment fails to perform supervision and inspection responsibilities, the inappropriate design of the animal biosafety laboratory, non-standardized personnel training and health management, non-strict waste management, and insufficient emergency management. The administrative department and work units should address certain safety and occupational health risks in laboratory animal research. The author proposes control strategies based on organizational guarantee, personnel management, emergency management, etc., to help prevent risks and ensure occupational health. Due to regional limitations and small sample size, the results may not be generalisable to all parts of the world. However, some of the key common issuesmay also be present in other regions, sowe believe that this research still has some relevance.

  • This study proposes a sex crime prevention application for single female households. After analyzing the current status of single-person households, crime status in Gimhae, and existing sex crime applications, 15 women in their 20s and 30s living alone were surveyed by users, including cultural probes and contextual inquiry. Insight obtained through user research using the service design tool confirmed that it has a positive effect on user satisfaction in the production of the application. Based on the results of usability assessment, it is a follow-up research task to propose and commercialize actual production outputs for the prevention of sex crimes against single-person household women by further developing the sex crime prevention mobile applications that are the output of this study.

  • Purpose: This study develops a chatbot for school violence prevention (C-SVP) among elementary school students. Methods: Among the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) models, ADD phases were applied to develop a C-SVP. Students' learning needs were identified by constructing content with a design that attracted their attention. Subsequently, a formative evaluation was conducted on the developed C-SVP to test its applicability by ten elementary school students targeting the 5th and 6th grades. Results: The chatbot was designed using KakaoTalk and named "School Guardian Angel." The formative evaluation revealed that the developed C-SVP was easily accessible and useful for elementary school students. Conclusion: The developed C-SVP is expected to be effective in preventing violence among elementary school students. However, further research involving children of various age groups is required.

  • Recently the crime against elementary school students has been rapidly increasing. Under these circumstances, this study is to analyze the basic principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) for the elementary school in urban residential area, and suggest some planning and design guidelines. Among 59 elementary schools in Pyongchon, Bundang, and Pangyo new towns, 11 distinctive schools were selected for analysis study. School cases were investigated comparatively from the viewpoints of visibility, securing of observers, activity support and reinforced territoriality on the basis of theoretical crime prevention concepts. The analysis adopts various methods including theoretical research, field study, observation, and examination of plan. Some of findings of this analysis are as follows. Most of schools rely on the mechanical and physical devices such as CCTV, gate control, or walls, which are considered to be quite passive measures and ineffective for the crime prevention. Other effective methods such as offering school facilities to the public or public space sharing with surrounding residents, for the protection of crimevulnerable students by public eyes. Therefore, in order to prevent crimes effectively, it is urgently required to analyze the environments around and in the school, and to improve physical conditions on the basis of CPTED principles.

  • In this study, a model is developed based on Life Cycle Energy Analysis (LCEA) method with Genetic Algorithm (GA) to determine optimal diameter of Water Distribution System (WDS). For hydraulic analysis the EPANET2.0 program is linked with developed model, pipe-aging equation and pipe-breakage equation are built in to developed model to simulate pipe change through life cycle. The model is then applied to two sample WDSs for optimal energy design. After determining optimal diameter for each WDS, the total cost is calculated based on determined diameter and compared with well-known optimal diameter set of each WDS. Results show that optimal energy design of WDSs through the developed model can be an alternative option for optimal design of WDSs for reducing energy with lower in cost.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the elderly friendliness of the serious game for dementia prevention and to seek out the influence factors for enhance the friendliness. Research design, data and methodology: It measured the elderly friendliness of the serious game for dementia prevention, run with multi-touchscreens, for 300 elderly people using the Seoul-based General Social welfare centers located at Seoul, and participants evaluated the elder-friendliness of the serious game, by responding to a questionnaire survey. In addition, it analyzed the influence relationship between the elderly friendliness (EF) and the influence factors of the serious game, by setting the factors as the game level (GL), the demand of expectations for demand (DoE) and the prevention & usefulness of cognitive decline (PUCD). Results: the findings show that most of participants positively evaluated the EF of the serious game, regardless of their socio-demographic characteristics. Moreover, it can be found that the more the 'GL DoE and PUCD', the more the 'EF'. The EF was most strongly affected by DoE, followed by PUCD, and then GL Developing and running the serious game by actively reflecting such factors may be one of ways for enhancing the participation in the serious game for dementia prevention and facilitating the sustainable use of it.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest school safety accidents prevention policy by applying delphi technique as a method to decrease school safety accidents which have been increasing consistently. As results of Delphi, the plans to improve school safety accidents prevention policy per area are as follows: First, it is required to establish systematic safety policy by dividing school facilities into four stages such as planning, designing and building, maintenance and evaluation etc. Second, it is required studies to overcome budget limitation and accountability of people in charge of safety of facilities to apply school safety policy as a useful measure. Third, it is required to make an effort to revise relevant legislations through examinations of relevant government ministries per each area to reflect prevention measures to safety policy consistently.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a crime prevention system through the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). The research method went through the double diamond process and discovered the user's needs through the persona analysis. The most representative features are the functions that informs users of the safe and optimal route, checks the presence of streetlights or cctvs in real time to update them, and allows people with similar routs to return home together. It is a function to help safe return home with the help of an autonomous method, and a self-defense function to protect themselves. Therefore, the application presented in this study was intended to be of great help when actually returning home by adding these new functions. In particular, we help users to return home most safely by recommending the best safe route. Through the persona analysis, research method which we had chosen, the needs of users were discovered and implemented in a design that reflected those needs and requirements.
