AC and DC Applications of Induction Generator Excited by Static VAR Compensator

  • This paper presents the steady-state analysis of the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG). The three-phase SEIG with a squirrel cage rotor is driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) or a constant-speed prime mover (CSPM) such as a wind turbine or a micro gas turbine. Furthermore, a PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme of the three-phase SEIG driven by a VSPM on the basis of the static VAR compensator (SVC) is designed and evaluated for the stand-alone AC and DC power applications. The simulation and experimental results prove the practical effectiveness of the additional SVC with the PI controller-based feedback loop in terms of its fast responses and high performances

  • This study presents a solution to control a PMSM without sensors. The control method is the presented superposition principle. This method of sensorless theory is very simple to compute estimated angle. Therefore, computing time to estimate angle is shorter than other sensorless methods. The use of this system yields enhanced operations, fewer system components, lower system costs, efficient energy control system designs and increased efficiencies. A practical solution is described and its results are given in this study. The performance of a sensorless architecture allows an intelligent approach to reduce the complete system costs of digital motion control applications using the cheaper electrical sensorless motors. This paper deals with an overview of solutions in the sensorless PHSM control applications, whereby the focus will be the new sensorless controller and its applications.

  • The conventional sliding mode control (SMC) technique requires a priori knowledge of the upperbounds of disturbances and/or modeling uncertainties to assure robustness. This, however, may not be easy to obtain in practical situation. This paper presents a new methodology, a sliding mode control with disturbance estimator (SMCDE), which offers a robust control performance without a priori knowledge about the disturbance. The proposed technique is featured by an average value of the imposed disturbance over a certain period. A nonlinear spring-mass-damper system and a two-link robot system are adopted as illustrative application examples. Control performances such as estimation error and tracking error are compared between the proposed methodology and conventional scheme.

  • Information storage devices using disks have a disk vibration at the frequency which is equivalent to the disk rotational speed. They also have a track vibration due to the disk eccentricity at the same frequency. In near field recording systems, the former affects the air-gap servo and the latter affects the tracking servo. In this paper, we introduce a novel control algorithm based on the internal model principle to both servos. A controller block designed by the principle is connected to the base lead-lag type compensator in parallel in order to cancel the repeatable run-out due to the disk vibration or eccentricity. Simulation and practical application of the algorithm on a near field recording system show good servo performance.

  • In this study, self-tuning adaptive control using state observer is developed. Self-tuning adaptive controller that estimates the parameters of the system in real time and generates the optimal control signals has robust characteristic about varying load and external disturbances. In addition, state observer without sensors is applied, thus the control can be performed more quickly and exactly. Since chopper is used commonly in practical drives, the characteristics of the chopper are included in state observer algorithm, which, in turn, makes the system exact estimation. Since series type DC motor has nonlinear models, linearizing approach are investigated. to realize the proposed algorithm it requires fast calculation in real time. TMS320C31, digital signal processor, is applied to realized the adaptive control algorithms.

  • The main purpose of this study is to obtain linear models for the design of automatic flight controller in order to operate the Light Sport Aircraft as unmanned air vehicle. Flight test equipments installed on the aircraft to acquire flight test data are described and maneuvers for practical speed calibration are introduced. Parameters for the linear models of lateral and longitudinal motion are estimated by the Output error method as well as trim data analysis using the flight test data. Simulated data using the estimated parameters is shown to agree well with the measurement data. Estimated parameters obtained for several flight conditions can be used to improve the aerodynamic database of the simulation program.

  • In this paper, we improved the O-Ring Measurement System(O-R MS) based on oriental constitutional theory of four classes for objectify constitutional diagnosis by O-Ring test method which is one of effective methods in several constitutional diagnosis. The result of using in a half of year, some problems are pointed out. To settle these problems, we improved the actuator, display module, sensor module, and hardware of controller. Also, the software is supplemented to using the more decision parameters. It is estimated to have a high practical use for the objectified constitutional diagnosis.

  • A number of R, G and B LEDs for reference color temperature mixing ratio of RGB was determined by the theory of RGB mixing as a baseline. Once the number of LEDs was determined the objective color temperature from baseline has been achieved by the control the RGB duty ratio. And a practical prototype of 50W floodlighting adjusted by the above algorithm. The micro controller was developed with control algorithm for RGB duty ratio to obtain the objective color temperature. Detailed experiments to optimize algorithm of duty ratio and color temperature will be discussed in this paper as well.

  • This subject,'S" apartment structural frame has not been achieved without considerable effort by all quality controller involved. Therefore, it is appropriate at this time to report by all the fact of concrete quality control in our site. These are emphasized that the average strength of placed concrete must always exceed the specified value of design strength used in the structural design phase. In general, quality of ready mixed concrete largely depends not only upon the manner of production and proper observance of recognized methods of placement, finishing, curing, transportation etc. ,but also many kinds of influential factors even more handling of the test procedure, As this practical report, approaching to judgement by analysis of sampled specimens in site weather placed concrete have satisfied quality compare the specified strength with the target strength which is applied to standard deviation related with influential factors as above mentioned. This case study is consist of 1) A foreword, 2) Site brief, 3) A precondition for analysis, 4) A formulas derivation and quality analysis, 5) Economic gains by the coefRcient of increase and 6) A conclusion.sion.

  • In a switched reluctance motor drive, it is important to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position, because the position of rotor is an essential information. In the high-speed region, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth out of the preset value, which is caused by the sampling period of the microprocessor. In this paper, a low cost analog encoder to be suitable for practical applications is proposed. The validity of the proposed analog encoder with a proper logic controller is verified from the experiments.
