Optimum Design of the Power Yacht Based on Micro-Genetic Algorithm

  • The optimum design of power yacht belongs to the nonlinear constrained optimization problems. The determination of scantlings for the bow structure is a very important issue with in the whole structural design process. The derived design results are obtained by the use of real-coded micro-genetic algorithm including evaluation from Lloyd's Register small craft guideline, so that the nominal limiting stress requirement can be satisfied. In this study, the minimum volume design of bow structure on the power yacht was carried out based on the finite element analysis. The target model for optimum design and local structural analysis is the bow structure of a power yacht. The volume of bow structure and the main dimensions of structural members are chosen as an objective function and design variable, respectively. During optimization procedure, finite element analysis was performed to determine the constraint parameters at each iteration step of the optimization loop. optimization results were compared with a pre-existing design and it was possible to reduce approximately 19 percents of the total steel volume of bow structure from the previous design for the power yacht.

선박기관실의 소음 저감을 위한 차폐공명기의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Resonator to Reduce the Ship Engine Room Noise)

  • It is known that elimination of ship engine room noise is impossible thing, so the working environment in the engine room is getting worse because ships are recently built with huge engines to take higher sailing power. In the yacht and cruise yacht, the engine room noise is more serious because they have bigger engines relative to their hull sizes. The noise generated from the main engine makes the employee to hearing loss and the transmitted noise make the uncomfortable conditions in the cabins of ship. The noise generated by ship engine must be attenuate for the employee and passenger. In yacht and cruise yacht, the noise levels in cabines are the most important criterions to the value of commodities. In this study, the noise absorbtion barrier which have resonators is experimentally studied by the 1/3 octave band noise elimination rates(%).

  • The demand for sailing yacht is increasing in consonance the improvement of people's live. These yachts can be dually propelled by wind and by diesel engine power. A singing (humming, whistling) phenomenon induced on the propeller was discovered on a 55-foot catamaran sailing yacht. As a result, an increase in the structural vibration of the stern tube room and propulsion system with abnormal noise was detected due to this flow. In this study, the cause of the phenomenon is investigated and its possible countermeasures proposed.

여름철 파워요트 실내환경 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on Indoor Environment Performances of Power Yacht in Summer Season)

  • 본 연구에서는 슈퍼요트의 쾌적한 실내환경조성을 목적으로 기초자료를 수집하였으며, 요트가 주로 운항되는 여름철 실내공간에 형성되는 실내환경성능에 대해 실측을 통해 분석함으로써 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 외부와 연결된 살롱의 문을 닫을 경우 선박배기가스의 실내유입은 거의 없으나 문을 여는 경우에는 급속히 실내공기가 오염되므로 쾌적한 실내공기환경을 유지하기 위해 실내환기방법 및 환기량에 대한 대책이 필요하다. 2) 운항 시에는 모든 실이 선원보호 소음규제치인 60dB을 넘고 있어 실내의 소음대책이 시급하다. 3) State cabin과 Guest cabin은 에어컨가동에 의해 과냉됨으로써 실내 환경이 쾌적범위를 벗어나고 있어 이에 대한 대책이 필요하다.

강선요트의 국부강도 구조해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Local Strength Structural Analysis for Steel Yacht)

  • 지금까지 국내에서 제작된 요트는 선체의 재질이 FRP로 제작되어 왔으나 FRP는 환경오염 및 해양안전에 관한 법규 규제가 강화되고 있는 현 시점에서는 장래성이 불투명하고 변형 및 파손위험이 높을 뿐만 아니라 선체 제작시 외국의 고가(高價) 목형을 수입해야하는 단점을 안고 있다. 그러나 요트의 선체를 STEEL로 제작함으로써 이러한 문제들을 해결할 수 있다. 강선요트의 구조상 강선재료를 주로 사용함으로서 여러 가지 강도적인 측면에 대한 검토가 필요하며, 소형선박이므로 종강도, 횡강도 부분은 Rule의 허용 응력치에 안전율(Safe Factor)만을 주어서 설계를 하여도 충분히 안정된 구조를 이룰 수가 있다. 그러나, 소형선박에서 가장 문제시 되는 것은 국부강도(Local Strength)의 평가이다. 본 구조해석에서는 선수미에 슬래밍 동적하중과 선수충격에 의한 선수부의 손상 여부와 선수부의 국부강도를 만족 여부를 확인하고, Engine Bed 부분에서의 중량하중과 횡파하중에 대한 검토를 수행하였다.

세일링요트의 기본적 요소와 구조에 관한 소고 (A Study on the Basic Element and Structure of Sailing-yachts)

  • The present investigations were carried out for the most and fundamental elements, what is called maneuverability, stability, safety, rig, sail about the world famous race, VOLVO60 and America's cup. The results obtained are summarized as follows: First, the structure of yacht should be designed with focuse on the preparation for the preparation of collision with other yachts around, with the dumps of iceberg and also whales nearby. At the same time, the accurate calculation on the each structure and equipment of yacht should be processed for the dynamic stability in the rainstorms. Second, VOLVO60, long-distance sailing, should be emphasized on the light weight and the safety, while the boat for America's cup, short-distance sailing, should be stressed on the appropriate weight of the body and the maximum speed for fast maneuverability. Third, up-to-the minute materials should be developed for the appropriate wind power and the turning of directions.

경량탄소섬유(CFRP) 소재 50피트급 파워요트 저항특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Resistance Characteristics of 50-ft class CFRP Power Yacht)

  • The resistance performances were studied for two 50-ft-class power yachts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with different hull form characteristics using model tests. The tests were carried out at a high-speed circulating water channel (CWC) for the 16–38 knot range. The total resistance, trim, and sinkage were measured, and the results were compared with wave patterns. The results showed that a chine position at the draft line had a strong effect on the planning performance and resistance performance in a certain velocity range.

3D 휴먼 시뮬레이션을 통한 세일링 요트 윈치 배치 설계 연구 (Research on Arrangement Design for Sailing Yacht Winch using 3D Human Simulation)

  • Unlike other leisure boats, a sailing yacht is propelled by wind power using sails that are controlled by the crew. Therefore, the ergonomic design of the equipment that the crew has to operate for sailing might be very important. However, it is difficult to find design rules and regulations for the equipment arrangement of a sailing yacht based on ergonomics. In this study, the arrangement design for the height and side plate angle of a winch for a sailing yacht was examined from an ergonomic design point of view. In a simulation, a Korean male in his 20s was selected as a human model for a grinder. The physical load was analyzed when he was operating a winch using a 3D human simulation. The lower back load showed the highest value when using the grinder at $90^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$. Based on the results for the lower back load when using the grinder with various winch heights, it is suggested that the winch height from the cockpit floor to the top of the winch should be more than 40% of the height of the human operator. In addition, according to the results for the lower back load with various horizontal distances from the body, it is suggested that the side plate angle should be less than $16^{\circ}$.

  • 요트에서는 가벼운 선체에 비해 고성능의 엔진을 탑재하게 되므로 엔진에서 발생하는 소음이 승조원 및 여객에 미치는 영향은 매우 크다. 최근에는 국내에서도 크루즈요트의 생산이 시도되고 있지만, 선박의 성능과 함께 기관소음의 차단기술이 구매자의 요구에 부응하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이와 같이 선실의 소음이 구매를 결정하는 중요한 척도로 되고 있지만, 메인엔진의 소음을 차단하기 위한 대책 이 부족한 형편이다. 그러나 최근에 발전되고 있는 모니터링설비와 지능제어시스템을 이용하면, 주 엔진의 주변을 고효율의 흡음벽으로 차단하여 기관실의 소음을 개선할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소음을 흡수할 수 있는 흡음벽의 성능을 높이기 위해 헬름홀츠 공명기의 원리를 적용에 대하여 연구하였다.

단순형태 세일의 변형에 대한 유체-구조 연성 해석 (Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis on the Deformation of Simplified Yacht Sails)

  • Since most of yacht sails are made of thin fabric, they form cambered sail shape that can efficiently generate lift power by aerodynamic interaction and by external force delivered from supporting structures such as mast and boom. When the incident flow and external force alter in terms of volume or condition, the shape of sail also change. This deformation in shape has impact on the peripheral flow and aerodynamic interaction of the sail, and thus it is related to the deformation of the sail in shape again. Therefore, the precise optimization of aerodynamic performance of sail requires fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis. In this study, the simplified sail without camber was under experiment for one-way FSI that uses the result of flow analysis to the structural analysis as load condition in an attempt to fluid-structure interaction phenomenon. To confirm the validity of the analytical methods and the reliability of numerical computation, the difference in deformation by the number of finite element was compared. This study reproduced the boundary conditions that sail could have by rigs such as mast and boom and looked into the deformation of sail. Sail has non-linear deformation such as wrinkles because it is made of a thin fabric material. Thus non-linear structural analysis was conducted and the results were compared with those of analysis on elastic material.
