This study proposed a reactive power variation (RPV) method equipped with positive feedback (PF) for detecting the islanding operation of distributed generation systems. The proposed RPV consists of the constant reactive power component and a certain reactive power term and uses the frequency deviation between the rated and the measured frequencies. The constant reactive power is injected from distributed generation system and power factor is to 0.9975 in grid-connected operation. PF is activated from generation of the frequency deviation and the injected reactive power is continuously increased due to PF when islanding occurs. Consequently, the increasing reactive power causes the point of common coupling frequency to deviate from the maximum/minimum threshold level. Performance of the proposed RPV is verified in a 1.7 kW T-type inverter, and the detection times are 53 and 150 ms.

In case of favourable irradiation conditions, the ratio of irradiation to the total irradiation went up and then the irradiation increased in the area with high angle of inclination. The study showed that on a clear day with the irradiation of more than 80$[W/m^2]$, the pattern of alternating current power change in the fixed system was similar with that in the single-axis tracker. On the contrary, in case of unfavourable irradiation conditions, the ratio of diffuse irradiation to the total irradiation went up and then the horizontal irradiation increased. In the demo system, the fixed system, the single-axis tracker and the dual-axis tracker all had low generation power and similar generation pattern with each other. The study showed the generation power varied with the irradiation in the fixed system, while in the single-axis tracker and the dual-axis tracker, the amount of the generation Power variation was much more than the irradiation variation. The demo system was operated from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for generating power, during which time, 46[%] to 56[%] of the total generation power was produced. In this study, the generation power was increased by 147[%] in the fixed system, by 136[%] in the single-axis tracker, and by 164[%] in the dual-axis tracker, and the pattern of generation power was similar with the generation power variation in the situation where the irradiation increased by 140[%] in the spring with plenty of insolation. The alternating current power was more sensitive to variation of the irradiation than to that of the surface temperature of a module. The variation of the irradiation had a more positive effect on the generation power than the type of array.
This paper introduces an active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) to compensate for voltage variations due to the output of distributed generation. This paper presents an efficient control method of grid-connected inverters by comparing and analyzing voltage variation magnitude and line loss according to the compensation method. Voltage variations are caused not only by active power, but also by the change of reactive power flowing in the line. In particular, the system is in a relatively remote place in a coastal area compared with existing power plants, so it is relatively weak and may not be suitable for voltage control. So, since it is very important to keep the voltage below the normal voltage limit within the specified inverter capacity and to minimize line loss due to the reactive power. we describe the active power dependent standard characteristic curve, Q(P) method and verify the magnitude of voltage variation by simulation. Finally, the characteristics of each control method and line loss are compared and analyzed.

The minimum power supply voltage of a typical bandgap current reference (BGCR) is limited by operating temperature and input common mode range (ICMR) of a feedback amplifier. A new BGCR using a bandgap voltage generator (BGVG) is proposed to minimize the effect of temperature, supply voltage, and process variation. The BGVG is designed with proportional to absolute temperature (PTAT) characteristic, and a feedback amplifier is designed with weak-inversion transistors for low voltage operation. It is verified with a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process with five corners for MOS transistors and three corners for BJTs. The proposed circuit is superior to other reported current references under temperature variation from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $120^{\circ}C$ and power supply variation from 1.2 V to 1.8 V. The total power consumption is $126{\mu}W$ under the conditions that the power supply voltage is 1.2 V, the output current is $10{\mu}A$, and the operating temperature is $20^{\circ}C$.

Various problems such as the increase of the power loss and the voltage instability may often occur in the case of low load power factor. The demand of reactive power increases continuously with the growth of active power and the restructuring of electric power companies makes the comprehensive management of reactive power a troublesome problem, so that the systematic control of load power factor is required. In this paper, the load power factor sensitivity of the generation cost is derived and it is used for determining the locations of reactive power compensation devices effectively and for enhancing the load power factor appropriately. In addition, the voltage variation penalty cost is introduced and the integrated costs including the voltage variation penalty cost are used for determining the value of the load power factor from the point of view of the economic investment and voltage regulation. It is shown through the application to a large-scale power system that the load power factor can be enhanced effectively and appropriately using the load power factor sensitivity and integrated costs.

In this paper represented uninterruptible power sypply(UPS) equipment maintaining constant output voltage, using a pulse width modulation(PWM) voltage fed inverter, as power source disconnection, voltage variation and output current variation with load variation. This system is driven by being synchronized voltage fed inverter and AC source, and in the steady state of power source charge battery connected to DC side with solar cell using a Photovoltaic (PV) that it was so called constant voltage charge. In addition, better output waveform was generated because of PWM(pulse width Modulation) method, and it was Proved to test by experiment maintained constant output voltage regardless of AC source disconnection, load variation, and voltage variation of AC power source.

This study suggests a new type shaft generator driven by hydraulic power suitable for small size vessels. Since the shaft generator system is very easy to be affected by disturbances such as speed variation of main engine and load variation of the generator, a robust servo control must be implemented to obtain stable electric power with constant frequency. Thus, in this study two types of controller design method-the reference following optimal control method and robust servo control method-are adopted to the controller design. In the experiment, static and dynamic characteristics of the shaft generator system according to the variation of input frequency setting, the speed variation of the pump and the load variation of the generator are investigated. From the considerations on the computer simulation results and experimental results, it is ascertained that the shaft generator system proposed in this study has good control performances.
The signals of the eddy current testing(ECT) for the examination of the steam generator(SG) tubes in the nuclear power plant(NPP) determine the existence, size, and kind of defects using the variation of impedance signals when a testing coil, driven by alternating current, passes through the SG tube contains defects. The aim of this paper is building a database of the RPC probe signals on the basis of the sizes variation of defects and frequency variation of probe. In this paper 3-D numerical analysis of the ECT signals using the finite element method is performed. Through this study, it is shown variation of magnitude and phase of impedance according to variation of defect size and frequency. From the result of this paper, we can obtain the information which is useful in defect discrimination of SG tube in nuclear power plant.
Islanding phenomenon is undesirable because it lead to a safety hazard to utility service personnel and may cause damage to power generation and power supply facilities as a result of unsynchronized reclosure. In order to prevent the phenomenon, various anti-islanding methods have been studied. This paper proposes the variation method of inverter output current magnitude to prevent the islanding phenomenon as a novel method, which causes the large frequency variation of inverter output voltage after islanding. Unlike most active anti-islanding method deteriorating power quality, this novel method will have high performance of islanding detection and good power quality. For the verification of the proposed method, the simulated result and analyses are presented.
