  • This study presents neural load disturbance observer that used to deadbeat load torque observer and regulation of the compensation gain by parameter estimator. As a result, the response of PMSM fellows that of the nominal plant. The load torque compensation method is compose of a neural deadbeat observer. To reduce of the noise effect, the post-filter, which is implemented by MA process, is proposed. The parameter compensator with RLSM(recursive least square method) parameter estimator is suggested to increase the performance of the load torque observer and main controller. The proposed estimator is combined with a high performance neural torque observer to resolve the problems. As a result, the proposed control system becomes a robust and precise system against the load torque and the parameter variation. A stability and usefulness, through the verified computer simulation, are shown in this paper.

  • To assure quality of safety critical software, software should be developed in accordance with software development procedures and rigorous software verification and validation should be performed. Software verification is the formal act of reviewing, testing or checking, and documenting whether software components comply with the specified requirements for a particular stage of the development phase [1]. New software verification methodology was developed and was applied to the Shutdown System No. 1 and 2(SDS1,2) for Wolsong 2, 3 and 4 nuclear power plants by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited(AECL) in order to satisfy new regulation requirements of Atomic Energy Control Board(AECB). Software verification methodology applied to SDS1 for Wolsong 2, 3 and 4 project will be described in this paper. Some errors were found by this methodology during the software development for SDS1 and were corrected by software designer. Output from Wolsong 2, 3 and 4 project have demonstrated that the use of this methodology results in a high quality, cost-effective product.

  • This paper deals with the Safety Analysis for $CANDU^{(R)}$ 6 nuclear reactors as affected by main Heat Transport System (HTS) aging. Operational and aging related changes of the HTS throughout its lifetime may lead to restrictions in certain safety system settings and hence some restriction in performance under certain conditions. A step in confirming safe reactor operation is the tracking of relevant data and their corresponding interpretation by the use of appropriate thermal-hydraulic analytic models. Safety analyses ranging from the assessment of safety limits associated with the prevention of intermittent fuel sheath dryout for a slow Loss of Regulation (LOR) analysis and fission gas release after a fuel failure are summarized. Specifically for fission gas release, the thermal-hydraulic analysis for a fresh core and an 11 Effective Full Power Years (EFPY) aged core was summarized, leading to the most severe stagnation break sizes for the inlet feeder break and the channel failure time. Associated coolant conditions provide the input data for fuel analyses. Based on the thermal-hydraulic data, the fission product inventory under normal operating conditions may be calculated for both fresh and aged cores, and the fission gas release may be evaluated during the transient. This analysis plays a major role in determining possible radiation doses to the public after postulated accidents have occurred.

  • Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) has been widely used to estimate the overall safety of nuclear power plants (NPP) and it provides base information for risk informed application (RIA) and risk informed regulation (RIR). For the effective and correct use of PSA in RIA/RIR related decision making, the risk estimated by a PSA model should be as realistic as possible. In this work, a best-estimate thermal-hydraulic analysis of loss-of-coolant accidents (LOCAs) for the Hanul Nuclear Units 3&4 is first carried out in a systematic way. That is, the behaviors of peak cladding temperature (PCT) were analyzed with various combinations of break sizes, the operating conditions of safety systems, and the operator's action time for aggressive secondary cooling. Thereafter, the results of the thermal-hydraulic analysis have been reflected in the improvement of the PSA model by changing both accident sequences and success criteria of the event trees for the LOCA scenarios.

  • An electrical balance of plant(EBOP) of a 600kW molten carbonate fuelcell (MCFC) has to transit from grid-connected(GC) mode to grid-independent(GI) mode when a grid is in a fault conditions. A minimum transition time is limited by four cycle for a 600kW MCFC to ride through a grid fault. In this paper, we propose a control algorithm of a 600kW EBOP for a MCFC system. The EBOP has three operation modes, i.e., GC mode, GI mode, and grid-synchronized(GS) mode. The EBOP controls output currents in a GC mode and regulates output voltages in GI or GS mode. GS mode is defined as an interface between GC mode and GI mode to make a mode transition smooth, i.e., limitation of inrush currents, regulation of output voltages within ANSI standard. Simulations and experiments carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • Modulators Installed in PLS(Pohang Light Source) Linac are composed of a DC high voltage section, a charging section and a discharging section. PFN is charged by a resonant charging mechanism, and discharged by a switching device through the primary of the pulse transformer connected to a load. Charged PFN voltage must be well regulated to obtain stable output pulse voltage at the load. For this purpose, DCHV is controlled by a SCR controller with feedback signal, and PFN voltage is regulated by a De-Q'ing circuit. The full power operation test shows the pulse voltage regulation within ${\pm}0.13%$ with SCR feedback control alone, and within ${\pm}0.08%$ together with De-Q'ing. This paper describes the design concept and operational characteristics of the De-Q'ing circuit.

  • During seek operation in disk drives, the recording head is moved toward desired track by seek servo controller and then is settled onto the center of the desired track by settling servo controller. If the head speed at the start of settling servo control is not slow, it may produce overshoot relative to the center of track and thus extend the settling time. The degradation in settling performance will be more severe as the track width becomes smaller for higher density of data storage. We design a new settling servo controller for minimizing settling time based on the pole-zero cancellation. In order to cancel slow poles in settling response, we apply discrete pulse signals to the system in addition to the state feedback control. For exact pole-zero cancellation, we consider the dynamics of power amplifier used for actuator current regulation and the effects of delay in control action. In addition, we present system parameter identification algerian for the robustness of our controller to system parameter variation. In order to demonstrate the practical use of our controller, we present experimental results obtained by using a commercially available disk drive.

  • A low voltage high PSRR CMOS Bandgap circuit capable of generating a stable voltage of less than 1 V (0.8 V and 0.5 V) robust to Process, Voltage and Temperature (PVT) variations is proposed. The high PSRR of the circuit is guaranteed by a low-voltage current mode regulator at the central aspect of the bandgap circuitry, which isolates the bandgap voltage from power supply variations and noise. The isolating current mirrors create an internal regulated voltage $V_{reg}$ for the BG core and Op-Amp rather than the VDD. These current mirrors reduce the impact of supply voltage variations. The proposed circuit is implemented in a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The BGR circuit occupies $0.024mm^2$ of the die area and consumes $200{\mu}W$ from a 5 V supply voltage at room temperature. Experimental results demonstrate that the PSRR of the voltage reference achieved -118 dB at frequencies up to 1 kHz and -55 dB at 1 MHz without additional circuits for the curvature compensation. A temperature coefficient of $60 ppm/^{\circ}C$ is obtained in the range of -40 to $120^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, an adaptive input-output linearization and zero dynamics control of three phase AC/DC converter are proposed. For achieving output do voltage regulation with unity power factor, the q-axis current of the rotating d-q frame is regulated to zero and the output do voltage is controlled to track a given reference voltage $V_r$. The proposed scheme is robust to the parametric uncertainty md load current of the converter due to the adaptation process. The simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance and feasibility of the proposed control scheme.
