SWAT-K 모형을 이용한 연천지역의 지하수 개발가능량 추정 (Estimation of Groundwater Availability by Using the SWAT-K Model in Yeoncheon District, South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 연천지역의 개발 가능한 지하수의 양을 추정하기 위해 분포형 수문모형 SWAT-K를 이용하여 토지이용, 토양분포 특성에 따른 함양량을 산정하였다. 모형의 검보정 결과 관측유량과 모의유량의 결정계수가 0.75~0.97로 양호하게 나타났으며 계산된 지하수 함양량은 겨울과 봄에 걸쳐 낮은 함양률을, 여름철에는 높은 함양률을 나타내는 시공간적 특성을 보였다. 계산된 연평균 함양률을 자연유량의 기저유출률과 비교하여 추정된 함양량의 타당성을 검토하였다. 지하수 개발가능량은 통계학적 빈도해석 기법을 이용한 10년 빈도 갈수시의 함양량으로 산정하여 연강수량의 11.5%인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The addition of oxygenates to diesel fuel can significantly reduce particulate emissions. Dibutyl maleate (DBM) and tripropylene glycol methyl ether (TGME) have been identified as possible additives based on their physicochemical characteristics and performance in engine test. However, their potential environmental impacts are unknown. therefore, practical considerations in the selection of an oxygenate additives should include cost, availability, compatibility with engines and fuel, and, particularly, its overall environmental impact. This study was investigated to determine optimal condition for the analysis of potential diesel oxygenates using SPME technique with GC-FID. Four fibers were compared and CAR/PDMS fiber was found to be the most sensitive when used direct-sampling. An absorption time of 30min and a desorption time of 5min provided to be the most sensitivity. The effects of experimental parameters such as the addition of salts, agitation, absorption time, compositon on the analysis were investigated. Analytical parameter such as linearity was also evaluated.

  • Facilities for low impact development (LID) or groundwater recharge have the high potential spreading groundwater nitrate contamination because of the rapid infiltration. This study was initiated to remove nitrate from the waters using agricultural byproducts as organic sources for denitrification during infiltration. As the first step of this purpose, we experimentally tested the denitrifying efficiency of 4 organic materials (pine tree woodchips, cherry leaves, rice straws, and rice hulls) and tried to identify the key factors controlling the efficiency. For this study, we precisely investigated the change of chemical reactions during the experiment by analyzing various geochemical parameters. The result shows that the denitrification efficiency is not simply linked to the availability of the easily decomposable contents in the organic matter. It is found that avoiding the severe pH decrease due to the CO2 generation is the essence to derive the efficient denitrifying conditions when organic matters were used.

지리정보시스템을 이용한 우리나라 인공함양 개발 유망지역 분석 (Site Prioritization for Artificial Recharge in Korea using GIS Mapping)

  • It is getting difficult to manage water resources in South Korea because more than half of annual precipitation is concentrated in the summer season and its intensity is increasing due to global warming and climate change. Artificial recharge schemes such as well recharge of surface water and roof-top rainwater harvesting can be a useful method to manage water resources in Korea. In this study, potential artificial recharge site is evaluated using geographic information system with hydrogeological and social factors. The hydrogeological factors include annual precipitation, geological classification based on geological map, specific capacity and depth to water level of national groundwater monitoring wells. These factors were selected to evaluate potential artificial recharge site because annual precipitation is closely related to source water availability for artificial recharge, geological features and specific capacity are related to injection capacity and depth to water is related to storage capacity of the subsurface medium. In addition to those hydrogeological factors, social aspect was taken into consideration by selecting the areas that is not serviced by national water works and have been suffered from drought. These factors are graded into five rates and integrated together in the GIS system resulting in spatial distribution of artificial recharge potential. Cheongsong, Yeongdeok in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Hadong in Gyeongsangnam-do, and Suncheon in Jeollanam-do were proven as favorable areas for applying artificial recharge schemes. Although the potential map for artificial recharge in South Korea developed in this study need to be improved by using other scientific factors such as evaporation and topographical features, and other social factors such as water-curtain cultivation area, hot spring resorts and industrial area where groundwater level is severely lowered, it can be used in a rough site-selection, preliminary and/or feasibility study for artificial recharge.

  • It may be necessary to apply a daily fever to operate the municipal solid waste landfill. The daily cover helps to control nuisance factors such as the escape of odors, dusts and airborne emissions, and can control the population of disease vectors. Also it may be reduce the infiltration of rain, decreasing the generation of leachate and the potential for surface water and groundwater contamination. Because of its usual availability and traditional usage as the municipal solid waste landfill, soil remains as the most common daily cover material. However, soil tends to reduce the volume of dumping waste c;3pacity in the landfill, it also reduces a period of using in the landfill. Therefore, it is necessary to research about Alternative Daily Cover Materials (ADCMs) because of the limitation of landfill sites. Recently, The types of ADCMs are classified into geosynthetics, forms, spray-ons, indigenous materials. In this study, the authors have tested the spray type of Alternative Daily Cover(ADC) using by flyash, alum with cement. The development. of ADCMs will be highly effective in terms of prolongation using landfill.

낙동강 유역의 강변여과수 개발 가능성 (Potential for Development of Bank Filtrate in the Nakdong River Basin)

  • In order to obtain safe drinking water, free from surface contamination, a study to determine the potential for developing a bank-filtrate system in the Iryong and Yongsan, Nakdong River Basin, Korea was conducted. The main type of aquifer In the study area is alluvial, consisting mostly of sand and gravel. The hydraulic conductivity(k) of the Iryong and Yongsan test areas were 8.63${\times}$10$^-2$cm/s and 9.90${\times}$10$^-2$cm/s, respectively, indicating that these areas are satisfactory for bank filtrate production. Pilot plants(IRPL and YSPL) were set up In Iryong and Yongsan to monitor the change in the quality of bank-filtered water and to determine the effect pumping had on the surrounding hydrogeologic system. The pilot plants operated continuously for about two months and the data obtained were used to validate the groundwater flow model. Computer simulations were conducted to predict the effects of producing bank filtrate using MODFLOW. MODPATH was also linked with the flow model to analyze particle tracking. According to the results of the model simulations and the hydrogeologlc study, long-term pumping, the minimization of drawdown and the availability of uncontaminated sell and groundwater conditions for the catchment area were all Important factors for successful bank-titrate system development.

지하수 수질관측망 설계방법론의 적용성 검토 (Applicability of Groundwater Quality Monitoring Network Design Methodologies)

  • 지하수질 감시를 위한 관측은 지하수를 사용하는 주변 인구의 보건은 물론이고 궁극적으로는 지하수자원 보전이라는 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 그러나 지하수 수질관측망은 설계부터 운영에 이르기까지 임의적이고, 체계적이기보다는 경험에 의존하거나 과학적이지 못한 방식으로 시행되고 있는 것이 사실이다. 본 연구는 지하수질 관측망의 효율적 배치를 위한 방법론의 현장적용성을 검토하기 위하여 대표적인 설계방법론을 대상으로 비교연구 하였다. 그 결과, 지하수질 관측망의 설계 시에는 관측망 설치의 목적을 명확히 설정하는 것이 중요하며, 현장정보의 확보수준에 따라 선택될 방법론이 달라져야 함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 범용관측망 설계기법의 하나인 Integer Programming에 의한 방법과 지하수 정화 목적 관측망 설계기법의 하나인 Cost-to-go 함수 비교법을 동일한 대수층을 대상으로 적용한 결과, 각기 다른 관측정 위치를 얻었으나 요구되는 정보의 양은 비슷하였다. 두 방법 모두 지하수 오염을 모의할 정도의 정보만 확보되면 현장적용이 가능하며, 이를 통해 보다 객관적 근거에 이해 관측망 설계가 이루어질 것으로 판단된다.

다중 온도 모니터링을 통한 충적층 및 하상의 지열특성 평가 연구 (A Study on Geothermal Evaluation of Alluvium and Riverbed using Thermal Line Temperature Monitoring)

  • In advanced countries, state-of-the-art temperature monitoring technique is widely used for effective use of geothermal resources. But these kind of modern tools such as Thermal Line Sensor has not been applied to find geothermal characteristics of alluvium and riverbed in domestic area. In this research, state-of-the-art thermal line temperature sensor monitoring was introduced. And long term field test using this type of sensor was performed to find geothermal characteristics of alluvium and riverbed and evaluate the availability for heat energy source. As a result, temperature monitoring technique through thermal line sensor was very effective to obtain basic geothermal information of alluvium deposit and riverbed. Also, it was found that the groundwater temperature phase showed its potential of utilization as a energy source of heat pump. It is estimated that further study shows a specific corelation between temperature monitoring data and its availability as a energy source.

선진국 토양오염 기준의 역할과 기준항목 설정방법 (Role and Contaminant Selection Methods of Soil Quality Standards in Developed Countries)

  • 세계 각국은 토양환경의 효율적인 관리를 위하여 각국의 상황에 적합한 토양오염기준을 운영하고 있다. 본 총설은 각국의 토양환경관리 정책에서 토양오염기준의 역할과 토양오염기준 항목을 설정하는 방법에 대해 체계적으로 분석하여 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 대부분의 토양기준은 토양오염여부를 일차적으로 판단하기 위한 Guideling 역할을 수행하고 있었으며, 기준치가 오염여부 판단과 관련 행정명령의 지표인 Standard로 활용하고 있는 나라는 스위스, 덴마크, 일본 등이었다. 네덜란드는 Guideline과 Standard를 혼용하고 있었다. 토양오염기준 물질선정은 현장에서 검출빈도수가 높은 토양오염물질을 중심으로 이루어졌으며 독성, 노출, 분석의 용이성, 독성자료의 가용성 등 다양한 인자를 복합적으로 고려하여 선정되었다. 각 나라는 자국의 토양환경정책 및 기준 설정에 있어 자국의 상황을 고려한 특징을 가지고 있었다.

화약류 및 중금속의 인체위해성평가 및 생태독성에 기반한 토양허용농도도출에 관한 연구 (Study on Determination of Permissible Soil Concentrations for Explosives and Heavy Metals)

  • Permissible soil concentrations for explosives (i.e., TNT and RDX) and heavy metals (i.e., Cu, Zn, Pb, and As) heve been derived from human risk and ecotoxicity, respectively. For TNT and RDX, human risk based-permissible soil concentrations were determined as 460 mg-TNT/kg-soil and 260 mg-RDX/kg-soil. Ecotoxicity based-permissible soil concentrations for Cu and Zn were determined from species sensitivity distribution (SSD) and uncertainty factor of 1 to 5, yielding 18.0-40.0 mg-Cu/kg-soil and 46.0-100 mg-Zn/kg-soil. For Pb and As, ecotoxicity data were not enough to establish SSD so that a deterministic method was used, generating 13.8-30.8 mg-Pb/kg-soil and 2.10-4.60 mg-As/kg-soil. It is worth noting that the methodology used to derive permissible concentrations in soil can differ depending on ecotoxicity data availability and socio-economic situations, which results in different permissible concentrations. The permissible concentrations presented in this study have been derived from conservative assumptions for exposure parameters, and thus should be considered as soil standards. In the light of remediation and pollution management of a site of interest, the site-specific and receptor-specific permissible soil concentrations should be derived considering potential receptors, current and future land use, background concentrations, and socio-economic consultation.
