  • Digora/sup (R)/ an intraoral digital radiography system utilizing image plate (IP) - has a dynamic range of exposure time which allows it to decrease the patient's exposure time and to increase diagnostic ability through image processing, transmission and storage. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Digora/sup (R)/ system by assessing the effects of various exposure times on the detectability on the tip of the endodontic file. Examining the root canals of 45 extracted sound premolars, K -files No. 10, 15, and 20 were placed at slightly varying distances from the apex. The teeth were glued onto resin-plaster blocks. Five exposure times varying between 0.01 seconds and 0.25 seconds were used. Four observers were asked to measure the distance between the tip of the file and a reduction of crown portion, and obtained mean errors (subtracting true file length from the measured file length), comparing Digora/sup (R)/ monitors with E-plus films, which were both obtained under the same geometrical positions. The results were as follows : 1. Comparing E-plus film with Digora/sup (R)/ at 0.01 seconds, the mean errors in E-plus film showed -4.453 nun, -4.497 nun, and -3.857 nun, while the mean errors in Digora/sup (R)/ showed 0.065 nun, 0.607 nun, and 0.719 mm according to the file groups. Therefore there was a significant difference between E-plus film and Digora/sup (R)/(p<0.05). 2. By comparison of mean errors according to the various exposure times in the Digora/sup (R)/ system, the mean error at 0.01 seconds was significantly lower than that at 0.12 and 0.25 seconds in the No. 10 file group(p<0.05). And the standard deviation was the highest at 0.01 seconds. 3. Comparing E-plus film at 0.25 seconds with the Digora/sup (R)/ system, the mean errors showed a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and the Digora/sup (R)/ system at 0.25 seconds in No. 10 and 20 file groups(p<0.05). 4. Comparing E -plus film at 0.25 seconds with other exposure times, the mean errors showed a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and E-plus film at 0 .. 01 and 0.03 seconds in 10 file group(p<0.05). In the No. 15 and 20 file groups, there was a significant difference between E-plus film at 0.25 seconds and E-plus film at 0.01 seconds(p<0.05). In conclusion, Digora/sup (R)/ was better than E-plus film in detectability on the tip of the file at the exposure time of 0.01 seconds in all file groups. And we concluded that Digora/sup (R)/ can shorten exposure times up to 4% of 0.25 seconds (0.01 sec), which is adequate exposure time for premolar in E-plus film using No. 15 and 20 files.

  • Determining the best visibility positions on terrain surface has been one of the frequently used analytical issues in GIS visibility analysis and the search for a solution has been carried out effectively using spatial search techniques. However, the spatial search process provides operational and methodological challenges for finding computational algorithms suitable for solving the best visibility site problem. For this problem, current GIS visibility analysis has not been successful due to limited algorithmic structure and operational performance. To meet these challenges, this paper suggests four algorithms explored robust search techniques: an extensive iterative search technique; a conventional solution based on the Tornqvist algorithm; genetic algorithm; and simulated annealing technique. The solution performance of these algorithms is compared on a set of visibility location problems and the experiment results demonstrate the useful feasibility. Finally, this paper presents the potential applicability of the new spatial search techniques for GIS visibility analysis by which the new search algorithms are of particular useful for tackling extensive visibility optimization problems as the next GIS analysis tool.

  • This paper describes a method to insert and detect watermark or fingerprint to/from videos in low-computing powered system as Android platforms. Fingerprint, which is a kind of watermark, has features such as patterns that contain information. The inserting frame numbers in video-stream and the positions in a picture were chosen from the encrypted user ID to insert the watermarks. The used encrypt algorithm is the HIGHT algorithm which was developed for low-computing powered systems by KISA(Korean Internet & Security Agency). Subtracting an inferred picture from the previous picture was used to extract a candidate feature. Median filtering was used to get rid of noise and stabilize the candidate feature. New algorithm that reduces calculating steps of the median filtering was developed and applied for low-specification systems. The stabilized features were accumulated over 150 times and calculated by correlation coefficient method to recognize the patterns. We examined 22 videos and successfully detected the patterns from 21 videos. The correlation coefficient r values that we examined through this study exceeded over 0.79 more than the threshold (0.7).

  • Recently, many universities in Korea have been faced with critical crisis such as the decrease in the number of freshmen, the pressure for tuition cuts, M&A between universities and so on. Nobody has expected that universities will have this kind of difficulties. The universities are making attempts to innovate the quality of education to secure high level of education and to meet social needs to overcome these internal and external environment of crisis. For this innovation, the universities have sought to reduce the budget as well as conducted the self-evaluation to figure out their relative positions annually. Innovations cannot have having the limitation without education funds. Budget spent in universities have influences directly or indirectly on the structural improvement of the finance and on the growth of universities. The purpose of this study is to explore the decision-making method to find the optimal budget allocation so as to minimize the execution budget and to maximize the management evaluation by taking the advantage to analyse the relationship between the evaluation and the budget. Therefore, in this paper, we implement the development of the mathematical model for the University Evaluation and Budget Allocation Optimization in the form of the linear programming.

  • School foodservice employees are involved with every aspect of ensuring that high quality meals are prepared and they influence student satisfaction. The objective of this study was to identify whether job satisfaction of cooks is affected by their relationships with management. Survey forms that were developed for foodservice dietitians and employees were interviewed. Questionnaires to measure job satisfaction were distributed to 30 schools in the Gyeonggi province and completed by 30 dietitians and 323 cooks. Foodservice cooks' job satisfaction was evaluated by measuring attitudes towards aspects of their job using the modified Smith method(1969). All items in the scales were coded by 4 Likert scale(1: nerver satisfied, 4: very satisfied), then grouped by using factor analyses. Statistical methods used in this study were a $x^2$-test, t-test with SPSS software(version 12.0). The study results were as follows; 1) The demographic data showed that 65.3% of respondents were in their 40s, 96% were married, 68.8% were high school graduates, and 93.5% were contracted employees. Regarding overall experience in their current workplace, 27.9% had been in their position over 5 years and 25.7% said less than 2 years. 2) Most of the school lunches was served in the classroom(73.3%). The cook working was rotated among the employees(90%). Most employees did not use a day's leave of absence per month because they were averse to burdening their coworkers. 3) There were no significant differences in job satisfaction between the cooks' self-evaluation scores(2.92) and those of the dietitians(2.92). Among the factors influencing job satisfaction, dietitians(2.10) perceived that cooks(1.99) were more satisfied with their salaries than was actually the case. The cooks(3.19) rated their level of work satisfaction higher than the dietitians(3.03) perceived it to be. Employees rated their relationship satisfaction as 3.50, but dietitians on the other hand rated it 3.37. Most of the cook respondents want a higher salary and a some kind of employment guarantee. This study provides foodservice managers information useful for design positions that will increase productivity. Future study is needed to determine the factors that will improve job satisfaction and satisfy the employees' needs, which in turn will improve school food service quality.

  • Through silicon via (TSV) technology is to form a via hole in a silicon chip, and to stack the chips vertically for three-dimensional (3D) electronics packaging technology. This can reduce current path, power consumption and response time. In this study, Cu-filling substrate size was changed from Si-chip to a 4" wafer to investigate the behavior of Cu filling in wafer level. The electrolyte for Cu filling consisted of $CuSO_4$ $5H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$ and small amount of additives. The anode was Pt, and cathode was changed from $0.5{\times}0.5cm^2$ to 4" wafer. As experimental results, in the case of $5{\times}5cm^2$ Si chip, suitable distance of electrodes was 4cm having 100% filling ratio. The distance of 0~0.5 cm from current supplying location showed 100% filling ratio, and distance of 4.5~5 cm showed 95%. It was confirmed good TSV filling was achieved by plating for 2.5 hrs.

  • In order to investigate the effects of the double replacement of $\small{L}$-Pro, $\small{D}$-Pro, $\small{D}$-Leu or Nleu (the peptoid residue for Leu) in the hydrophobic face (positions 9 and 13) of amphipathic ${\alpha}$-helical non-cell-selective antimicrobial peptide $L_8K_9W_1$ on the structure, cell selectivity and mechanism of action, we synthesized a series of $L_8K_9W_1$ analogs with double replacement of $\small{L}$-Pro, $\small{D}$-Pro, $\small{D}$-Leu or Nleu in the hydrophobic face of $L_8K_9W_1$. In this study, we have confirmed that the double replacement of $\small{L}$-Pro, $\small{D}$-Pro, or Nleu in the hydrophobic face of $L_8K_9W_1$ let to a great increase in the selectivity toward bacterial cells and a complete destruction of ${\alpha}$-helical structure. Interestingly, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{L}$-Pro, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{D}$-Pro and $L_8K_9W_1$-Nleu preferentially interacted with negatively charged phospholipids, but unlike $L_8K_9W_1$ and $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{D}$-Leu, they did not disrupt the integrity of lipid bilayers and depolarize the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. These results suggested that the mode of action of $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{L}$-Pro, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{D}$-Pro and $L_8K_9W_1$-Nleu involves the intracellular target other than the bacterial membrane. In particular, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{L}$-Pro, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{D}$-Pro and $L_8K_9W_1$-Nleu had powerful antimicrobial activity (MIC range, 1 to $4{\mu}M$) against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MDRPA). Taken together, our results suggested that $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{L}$-Pro, $L_8K_9W_1$-$\small{D}$-Pro and $L_8K_9W_1$-Nleu with great cell selectivity may be promising candidates for novel therapeutic agents, complementing conventional antibiotic therapies to combat pathogenic microorganisms.

  • Most of the structure of the real world is influenced under dynamic loads. However, when structure analysis and the structural optimization is performed, it is assumed that the static load acts on structure. When considering the actual load of dynamic loads in order to take into account a variety of loads, computational resources and time becomes a big burden in terms of cost. However, considering only the simple static load condition is not preferable for structural safety. For this reason, a lot of studies have been conducted trying to compensate this trouble by applying weight factor or replacing dynamic load with the equivalent static load. In this study, structural optimization techniques for structures under dynamic loads is proposed by applying the equivalent static load. From previous study, after determining the positions of equivalent static load based on primary degrees of freedom, the equivalent static load is calculated through the optimization process. In this process, the equivalent static load optimization of previous research is complemented by adding constraints to avoid excessively large load extraction. In numerical examples, dynamic load is applied to the truss structure and the plate. Then, the reliability of the proposed optimization technique is verified by carrying out size optimization with the equivalent static load.

  • Two possible space groups of the comfound, VP6N3018C24H:60, are: P 1, a=14.022(1), b=12.644(2), c= 12.640(1)A, a=8038(1), B=102.12(1), r=102.16(1), V=2124.1A3, Z=2, μ=0.47cm-1, d=1.46g/cm3, R=0.083 for 3350 independent reflections with Fo>4o IFI, and C2/c, a=19.32(2), b=16.32(2), c=14.02(1)A, B=105.98(5), β=105.98(5), V=4248.2A3, Z=4 R=0.083 for 1590 independent reflections with Fo>4c IFoI . In the space group P T, there are two monlecules in a unit cell. Vanadium atoms in the two monlecules occupy the two different special positions such that the complete monlecules are accomplished by the two independent center of symmetry. Therefore two different half molecules of bis(trimetaphosphate)vanadate and three molecules of tetraethylammonium are the asymmetric unit in a unit cell. In the space group C2/c, however, the vanadium atom is located at a special position with centrosymmetry, and a two-fold symmetry axis passes through C2/c, N2 and C25 atoms. Therefore the asymmrtic unit in a unit cell consists of a half molecule of bis(trimetaphosphate)vanadate and one and a half molecules of tetraethylammonium. All the molecular conformations in both space groups are very similar: six oxygen atoms coordinated to a vanadium atom in the bi s(trimetaphosphate)vanadate molecule form an octahedron and the four carbon atoms bonded to a nitrogen atom in the tetraethylammonium molecule are disordered so that the eight carbon atoms around nitrogen atom exhibit an irregular dodecahedral form.
