  • In this study, we proposed the wire parallel mechanism that can be used to measure a full pose of a robot. It is composed of six parallel links using wire. The position and orientation of the end effectorf of a robot are calculated using the length of wires which is measured by the encoder. The complex non- linear equations of the forward kinematics are solved by using a numerical method, and the unique solution is obtained from the geometric configuration of the device. The length error of the wire which occurs in static condition is compensated by the relational equation that considered longitudinal extension and defoection of the wire. Through this work, we known that the proposed device has a good accuracy( .+-. 0.01mm) in a large measuring region, so it can be used effectively in a callibration of a robot which required a low cost.

  • Odometry using wheel encoder is a common relative positioning technique for wheeled mobile robots. The major drawback of odometry is that the kinematic modeling errors are accumulated when the travel distance increases. Therefore, accurate calibration of odometry is required. In several related works, various schemes for odometry calibration are proposed. However, design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration were not considered. More accurate odometry calibration results can be achieved by using appropriate test track because the position and orientation errors after the test are affected by the test track. In this paper, we propose the design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration schemes using experimental heading errors. Numerical simulations and experiments clearly demonstrate that the proposed design guidelines result in more accurate calibration results.

  • This study is for stabilizer, a parts of automotive suspension system, that would be changed to Plastic Material. The part is designed and analyze by PRO-E. The position of Weld Line is founded by the C-mold, computer software with FEM. Then a Mold is designed by consideration with locating Weld Line. Mechanical property tests, such as tensile test, compression test, ball pull-out test, fatigue test and durability test are done the part by SAE test spec. Most of all the result of the tests show over requirement result without the compression test.

  • A method for the inverse dynamic analysis of constrained multibody systems considering friction forces acting on kinematic joints is presented in this paper. The stiction and the sliding which represent zero and non-zero relative motions are considered during the inverse dynamic analysis. Actuating forces to control the position or the orientation of constrained multibody systems are usually calculated in the inverse dynamic analysis. An iterative procedure need to be employed to calculate the actuating forces when the friction is considered. Furthermore, the actuating forces are not uniquely determined during the stiction. These difficulties are resolved by the method presented in this paper.

  • We consider the estimation of the position and orientation of 6 DOF motion bed (Stewart platform) from the measured cylinder length. The solution of forward kinematics is not solved yet as a useful realtime application tool because of the complity of the equation with multiple solutiple solutions. Hence we suggest an algorithm for the estimation of forward kinematics solution using Luenberger observer withnonlinear error correction term. The Luenberger observer withlinear model shows that the estimation error does not go to zero in steadystate due to the linearization error of the dynamic model. Hence the linear observer is modified using nonlinear measurement error equation and we prove thd practical stability of the estimation error dynamics of the proposed observer using lyapunov function.

  • In wheeled mobile robot (WMR) research, point stabilization is one of the basic research issue. Point stabilization is to set mobile robot in desired position regardless of its orientation. In this paper, we propose a point stabilization scheme for car-like type WMR. We will define a new error states named as tangential error and nomal error. Then a heuristic control scheme will be suggested. The performance of these approach is verified via POSTUR-II.

  • Due to the increasing demand for carious methodologies, the quality improvement of products were introduced. A brush, the most frequently used type of grinding process, is one of the deburring. In order to produce consistent burr shape, various machining conditions have been combined and applied to disk grinding process. By tool dynamometer, acoustic emission sensor and acceleration sensor depend on changes in processing conditions(depth of engagement, cutting speed, workpiece position, workpiece orientation, cutting time) signals were obtained for brush deburring grinding system. Root mean square obtained by processing the signal processing conditions by analyzing the characteristics of deburring is to derive the optimum conditions.

  • This paper presents a simple identification method of the actual kinematic parameters for the robot with parallel joints. It is known that Denavit-Hartenberg's coordinate system is not useful for nearly parallel joints. In this paper, the coordinate frames are reassigned to model the kinematic parameter between nearly parallel joints by four parameters. The proposed identification method uses a straight ruler about 1m long. A robot hand is placed by using a teaching pendant at the prescribed points on the ruler, and corresponding error function is defined. The identified kinematic parameters which make the error function zero are obtained by iterative least square error method based on the singular value decomposition. In the compensation of joint angles, only the position is considered because the usual applications of robot do not require a precise orientation control.

  • Algorithms to detect in real-time both position and orientation of rectangular type electronic components are developed for industrial vision. In order to conduct detection in real-time, parallel processing algorithm of image date which uses several control processor is proposed. Image processing area is divided into several regions which can be processed by each cpu. As a result, processing time is improved when two control processors are used and real-time pattern recognition of not-well-aligned components is accomplished.

  • The determination of camera position and orientation from known correspondences of 3D reference points and their images is known as pose estimation in computer vision or space resection in photogrammetry. This paper discusses estimation of transform parameters using the pattern matching method with 2D images only. In general, the 3D reference points or lines are needed to find out the 3D transform parameters, but this method is applied without the 3D reference points or lines. It uses only two images to find out the transform parameters between two image. The algorithm is simulated using Visual C++ on Windows 98.
