  • The study is to examine the drying shrinkage reducing method of mortar using organic shrinkage reducing agent. According to the experiment result, when 2% and 4% of organic shrinkage reducing agent were added, 40% and 50% of the shrinkage rate of mortar were obtained. Also, in the cracking test of plate-shape specimen, the usage of shrinkage agent 2% reduced about 60% of the total cracking length compare to total cracking length the usage of portland cement, the usage of shrinkage agent 4% was not happened crack until 90 days. Accordingly, the usage of shrinkage agent show good effect in prevention of crack.

  • In this study, we investigated the strength, shrinkage and durability of alkali-activated mortar using blast furnace slag only, and admixed with blast-furnace slag and fly ash as cementious materials in oder to develop cementless alkali-activated concrete. In order to compare with the alkali-activated mortar, the normal mortar using ordinary portland cement was also test. In view of the results, we found out that strength development, the resistance to shrinkage and freezing-thawing of the cementless alkali-activated mortar have better than the mortar using ordinary portland cement. Especially, using the combined with blast furnace slag and fly ash develop high strength of above 60 MPa, reduce shrinkage of about 40% and improve freezing-thawing durability of approximately 20%, but promote the velocity of carbonation of 2~3 times.

  • Air lime is a traditional building material of Korea. It had been used in roofs, walls, floors and masonry joints of traditional buildings until the advent of Portland cement. However, due to its low strength and durability, the lime is currently avoided as a repair or restoration material for the preservation of architectural heritage. Furthermore, due to the current practice of using hydraulic materials such as Portland cement, understanding of the material characteristics of air lime is very poor in practice. In this context, this study intended to improve the mechanical properties of the air lime mortar by reducing water contents, and also the carbonation reaction of the mortar was quantitatively evaluated to clearly understand the characteristics of this material. Accordingly, air lime mortar with a water-to-binder ratio of 0.4 was manufactured using polycarboxylate-type superplasticizer. During the 7 days of sealed curing period, the mortar did not harden at all. In other words, there was no reaction required for hardening since it could not absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, once exposed to the air, the compressive strength of the mortar began to rapidly increase due to the carbonation reaction, and the strength increased steadily until the 28th day; after then, the strength development was significantly slowed down. On the 28th day, the mortar exhibit a compressive strength of about 5 MPa, which is equivalent to the European standard regarding strength of hydraulic lime used for preservation of architectural heritage.

  • In this study, the experiment was conducted in the level of mortar as one of the basic studies on pre-cast concrete which acceleration curing is not done. This study has the purpose to develop the strength of mortar into 20MPa within 6 hours in the condition of room temperature using admixtures which can accelerate C3S hydration reaction. In this experiment, W/C was fixed into 20%, PCE which can stimulate C3S was used as an accelerating admixture. From the results of this experiment, maximum content of accelerating admixture was 1%. Also, as more than 20MPa was measured through 6-hour compressive strength, it can be known that strength can be developed without steam-curing.

  • The most recent building trend is going large, high rise, high strength as overlarge project is developing in domestic construction business. Belite cement has properties like low heat, excellent long term strength, and durability without admixture(fly ash, silica fume). so, Beilte cement is suitable for mass structure which is needed high strength, high fluidity and low heat property. This study is to examine the possibility if site adoption microwave-use early strength estimation method. Based on the existed study related the portland cement, the interrelation between Belite cement and microwave-use early strength estimation method is required. In this study, interrelation between mortar and Evaluating strength estimation method is investigated before the concrete experiment.

  • The biogenic corrosion of mortars adopted in sewage repair by sulfuric acid-producing bacteria was considered in this paper. Calcium aluminate cement (CAC) was known to resist microbiologically-induced corrosion significantly better than portland and blended portland cement. In this study, CAC as well portland cement mortars were tested as main binder to evaluate the corrosion resistance by the chemical immersion test. Replacement ratios of CAC were changed as 0, 20, 40, 50, 60% of OPC binder and 0, 2, 4, 6% of EVA(Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) were also adopted to increase properties of CAC repair mortars in sewage application. Setting time, compressive strength, acid resistance and adhesive strength were measured for various experiments. As a results of the experiments, the proper formulation of repair mortars was found at 40% of CAC and 4% of EVA. Finally, the CAC mortars adopted in field sewer pipe and were demonstrated to superior in adhesion and workability.

  • There has been a number of research on concrete durability. specially, as a research on chemical ingression, the research on the degradation against acid, alkali, and sulfate has been conducted. On the other hand, for the research on oils, especially, the influence of various oils on cement mortar with Supplementary Cementitious Materials(SCMs) is not sufficiently studied. hence, in this research, the degradation of cement mortar incorporated fly ash and blast furnace slag is researched when the cement mortar is submerged in various oils. For the result of experiment, as the content of fatty acid in the oils, the degradation of cement mortar with SCMs was occurred more, and the cement mortar with SCMs suffered more degradation than the ordinary portland cement regarding the oil submerging.

  • The setting time of alkali activated slag cement tends to be much faster than ordinary Portland cement, and its compressive strength had been higher from the 1 day but became lower than that of the cement on the 28 days. According to the results of the surface observation, weight loss, compressed strength, and erosion depth tests on the sulphuric acid solution. It has been drawn that alkali activated slag cement has a higher sulphate resistance than ordinary Portland cement, and in particular, the alkali activated slag cement added 5 wt% alumina cement has little deterioration on the sulphuric acid solution. The reason why the alkali activated slag cement has higher sulphate resistance than other hardened cement pastes is that it has no $Ca(OH)_2$ reactive to sulphate ion, and there is little $CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$ production causing volume expansion, unlike other pastes. And it is supposed that $Al(OH)_3$ hydrates with high sulphate resistance, which is produced by adding the alumina cement increases the sulfate resistance.
