The site attenuation for vertical polarization was theoretically calculated using EMF(electro- Motive force) method and measured for 3-m method in the KRISS semi-anechoic chamber. Agreement within .+-. 4 dB has been obtained between measured and calculated values in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 1000 MHz except 250 MHz and around 100 MHz.
Enhancements in NMR sensitivity have been the main driving force to extend the boundaries of NMR applications. Recently, techniques to shift the thermally populated nuclear spin states are employed to gain high NMR signals. Here, we introduce a technique called photochemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (photo-CIDNP) and discuss its progresses in enhancing the solution-state NMR sensitivity.
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a unique target to study the detail structures of molecular clouds and star-forming regions, due to its proximity and face-on orientation from us. Most part of the astrophysical subjects for the LMC have been investigated, but the magnetic field is still veiling despite its role in the evolution of the interstellar medium (ISM) and in the main force to influence the star formation process. Measuring polarization of the background stars behind interstellar medium allows us to describe the existence of magnetic fields through the polarization vector map. In this presentation, I introduce the near-infrared polarimetric results for the $39^{\prime}{\times}69^{\prime}$ field of the northeastern region of the LMC and the N159/N160 star-forming complex therein. The polarimetric observations were conducted at IRSF/SIRPOL 1.4 m telescope. These results allow us to examine both the global geometry of the large-scale magnetic field in the northeastern region and the close structure of the magnetic field in the complex. Prominent patterns of polarization vectors mainly follow dust emission features in the mid-infrared bands, which imply that the large-scale magnetic fields are highly involved in the structure of the dust cloud in the LMC. In addition, local magnetic field structures in the N159/N160 star-forming complex are investigated with the comparison between polarization vectors and molecular cloud emissions, suggesting that the magnetic fields are resulted from the sequential formation history of this complex. I propose that ionizing radiation from massive stellar clusters and the expanding bubble of the ionized gas and dust in this complex probably affect the nascent magnetic field structure.
Recently, trends of TFT-LCD toward larger scale and thinner thickness continue. so, demands of Light Guide Panel (LGP) which is to substitute for prism sheet are appeared. Functions of LGP obtaining polarization of light of the prism sheet as well as the incidence and reflection of light are demanded. This prism type LGP to complete functions of the existing LGP and polarization at once must be supported by micro machining technology of LGP surface. In this research, the machining characteristics of the various materials were analysed by shaping using V-shaped single crystal diamond tool. The characteristics are machined surface, machining force due to the variation of cutting depth. Used specimens are engineering materials, which are 6:4 brass, oxygen-free copper, Al6061, PC, PMMA. The FFT analysis of the measured cutting force was conducted. The cutting characteristics were analyzed and the optimum cutting conditions with materials were established.
A three-dimensional constitutive model for polarization switching in ferroelectric materials is used to predict the formation of switching zones in an atomic force microscopy(AFM) tip/ferroelectric thin film/bottom electrode system via finite element simulation. Initially the ferrolectric film is poled upward and the bottom electrode is grounded. A strong dc field is imposed on a fixed point of the top surface of the film through the AFM tip. A small switching zone with downward polarization is nucleated and grows with time. It is found that initially the shape of the switched zone is that of a bulgy dagger, but later turn to the shape of a reversed cup with the lower part wider than the upper part. It can also be concluded that the size of switching zones increases with the period of applied electric potential. The present results are qualitatively consistent with experimental observations.

This study presents a mathematical modeling approach for developing models based on non-ideal conditions related to the membrane structure including porous supporting layer and deformation under pressure. Comparison of the findings with experimental data reveal the importance of considering the resistance in porous supporting layer though the effect of concentration polarization in the permeate stream could be neglected. Investigations on deformation of fibers under pressure ascertain that at larger fiber inner radius to outer radius ratios, increasing driving force may lead to an initial increase in permeability. After that, the effects of deformation dominates and thus permeability may be decreased.
Ferroelectric material properties are strongly governed by domain structures and their evolution processes, but the evolution processes of complex domain patterns during a macroscopic electrical poling process are still elusive. In the present work, domain-evolution processes in a PZT ceramic near the morphotropic phase-boundary composition were studied during a step-wise electrical poling using piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). Electron backscatter diffraction was used with the PFM data to identify the grain boundaries in the region of interest. In response to an externally the applied electric field, growth and retreat of non-$180^{\circ}$ domain boundaries wasere observed. The results indicate that ferroelectric polarization-switching nucleates and evolves in concordance with the pattern of the pre-existing domains.
Recently, the trends of TFT-LCD are large scale and thin thickness, so, the demands of Light Guide Panel(LGP) which is able to substitute for prism sheets are appeared. Functions of LGP obtaining polarization of light of the prism sheet as well as the incidence and reflection of light are demanded. This prismless type LGP to complete functions of the existing LGP and polarization at once must be supported by micro machining technology of LGP surface. In this research, we have used the STAMPER method for the mass product and In-Line process, and the optimized conditions are established by analyzing the cutting force and conditions according to the material and processing properties when the prismless type LGP mold is fabricated. Parameters of the cutting condition were the workpiece and cutting depth.
In the present study, domain evolution processes of a near-morphotropic PZT ceramic during poling was studied using vertical piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). To perform macroscopic poling in bulk polycrystalline PZT, poling was carried out in a stepwise fashion, and PFM scan was performed after unloading the electric field. To identify the crystallographic orientation and planes for the observed non-$180^{\circ}$ domain walls in the PFM images, compatibility theory and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) were used in conjunction with PFM. Accurate registration between PFM and the EBSD image quality map was carried out by mapping several grains on the sample surface. A herringbone-like domain pattern consisting of two sets of lamellae was observed; this structure evolved into a single set of lamellae during the stepwise poling process. The mechanism underlying the observed domain evolution process was interpreted as showing that the growth of lamellae is determined by the potential energy associated with polarization and an externally applied electric field.
Particle paths and flow fields in a prototype differential mobility analyzer (DMA) were numerically analyzed solving Navier-Stokes equation, electric field equation and particle motion considering viscous drag force, Coulomb force and polarization force. Analytically predicted particle diameters for the prototype DMA are in good agreement with the measured particle diameters within $\pm$1%. And the analytically predicted particle diameters are also in good agreement with numerical results for the prototype DMA.
