Transportation provides an infrastructure vital to economic growth, and it is also an integral part of production. As a port is regarded as the interface between the maritime transport and domestic transport sectors, it certainly play a key role in any economic development. Ship's delay caused by port congestion has recently has recently attracted attended with the analysis of overall operation in port. In order to analyse complicated port operation which contains large number of variable factors, queueing theory is needed to be adopted, which is applicable to a large scale transportation system in chiding ship's delay in Inchon port in relation to ship's delay problem. The overall findings are as follows ; 1. The stucture of queueing model in this port can be represented as a complex of multi-channel single-phase 2. Ship's arrival and service pattern were Poisson Input Erlangian Service. 3. The suitable formula to calculate the mean delay in this port, namely, $W_q={\frac{{\rho}}{{\lambda}(1-{\rho})}}{\frac{e{\small{N}}({\rho}{\cdot}N)}{D_{N-1}({\rho}{\cdot}N)}}$ Where, ${\lambda}$ : mean arrival rate ${\mu}$ : mean servicing rate N : number of servicing channel ${\rho}$ : utilization rate (l/Nm) $e{\small{N}}$ : the Poisson function $D_{(n-1)}$ : a function of the cumulative Poisson function 4. The utility rate is 95.0 percents in general piers, 75.39 percents in container piers, and watiting time 28.43 hours in general piers, 13.67 hours in container piers, and the length of queue is 6.17 ships in general piers, 0.93 ships in container piers, and the ship turnaround time is 107.03 hours in general piers, 51.93 hours in container piers.
With a long sensing period, the inter-frame spectrum sensing in IEEE 802.22 standard is vulnerable to the effect of the traffic of the primary user (PU). In this article, we address the two degrading factors that affect the inter-frame sensing performance with respect to the random arrival/leaving of the PU traffic. They are the noise-only samples under the random arrival traffic, and the PU-signal-contained samples under the random leaving traffic. We propose the model in which the intra-frame sensing cooperates with the inter-frame one, and the inter-frame sensing uses the time-of-arrival (ToA), and time-of-leave (ToL) detectors to reduce the two degrading factors in the inter-frame sensing time. These ToA and ToL detectors are used to search for the sample which contains either the ToA or ToL of the PU traffic, respectively, which allows the partial cancelation of the unnecessary samples. At the final stage, the remaining samples are input into a primary user detector, which is based on the energy detection scheme, to determine the status of PU traffic in the inter-frame sensing time. The analysis and the simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the spectrum-sensing performance compared to the conventional counter-part.

The response of ship roll oscillation under random ice impulsive loads modeled by Poisson arrival process is very important in studying the safety of ships navigation in cold regions. Under both external and parametric random excitations the evolution of the probability density function of roll motion is evaluated using the path integral (PI) approach. The PI method relies on the Chapman-Kolmogorov equation, which governs the response transition probability density functions at two close intervals of time. Once the response probability density function at an early close time is specified, its value at later close time can be evaluated. The PI method is first demonstrated via simple dynamical models and then applied for ship roll dynamics under random impulsive white noise excitation.
An inventory supplies stock continuously at a constant rate. A deliveryman arrives according to a Poisson process. If the level of the inventory, when he arrives, exceeds a threshold, no action is taken, otherwise a delivery is made by a random amount. Costs are assigned to each visit of the deliveryman, to each delivery, to the inventory being empty and to the stock being kept. It is shown that there exists a unique arrival rate of the deliveryman which minimizes the average cost per unit time over an infinite horizon.

In this study we consider a CONWIP system studied in Park and Lee [1] in which the processing times at each station follow a Coxian distribution and the demands for the finished products arrive according to a compound Poisson process. The demands that are not satisfied Immediately are either backordered or lost according to the number of demands that exist at their arrival instants. For this system using the results in [1] we develop an approximation method to calculate order based performance measures such as the mean time of fulfilling a customer order and the mean number of customer orders. To test the accuracy of the approximation method, the results obtained from the approximation method are compared with those obtained by simulation. Comparisons with simulation have shown that the approximate method provides fairly good results.

In this study we consider a CONWIP system in which the processing times at each station follow a Coxian distribution and the demands for the finished products arrive according to a compound Poisson process. The demands that are not satisfied are backordered according to the number of demands that exist at their arrival instants. For this system we develop an approximation method to calculate order based performance measures such as the mean time of fulfilling a customer order and the mean number o: customer orders. For the analysis of the proposed CONWIP system, we model the CONWIP system as a closed queueing network with a synchronization station and analyze the closed queueing network using a product form approximation method. Numerical tests show that the approximation method provides fairly good estimation of the performance measures of interest.
In this study, we consider stationary waiting times in finite-buffer 3-node single-server queues in series with a Poisson arrival process and with either constant or non-overlapping service times. We assume that each node has a finite buffer except for the first node. The explicit expressions of waiting times in all areas of the stochastic system were driven as functions of finite buffer capacities. These explicit forms show that a system sojourn time does not depend on the finite buffer sizes, and also allow one to compute and compare characteristics of stationary waiting times at all areas under two blocking rules communication and manufacturing blocking. The goal of this study is to apply these results to an optimization problem which determines the smallest buffer capacities satisfying predetermined probabilistic constraints on stationary waiting times at all nodes. Numerical examples are also provided.

In this paper we consider a polling system with two classes of stations; high priority and low priority. High priority stations are polled more frequently than low priority stations. We derive an exact and explicit formula for computing the mean waiting times for a message when the arrival processes are batch Poisson. In general the formula requires to solve two sets of simultaneous equations By specializing them to the case of two priority classes we greatly reduce the number equations and provide a simple formula for mean waiting times. We apply the results to a data communication processing system and show that the overall mean waiting time can be reduced by using priority polling.
In this paper, we analyze a leaky bucket (LB) scheme with queue length dependent arrival rates. In other words, if the queue length exceeds an appropriate threshold value on buffer, the arrivals need to be controlled. In ATM networks, if the congestion occurs, the input traffics must be controlled (reduced) for congestion resolution. By the bursty and correlated properties of traffics, the arrivals are assumed to follow a Markov-modulated Poisson process (MMPP). We derive the loss probability and the waiting time distribution for arbitrary cell. The analysis is done by using the embedded Markov chain and supplementary variable method. We also present some numerical examples to show the effects of our proposed LB scheme.

In this paper, we analyze an M$^{x}$ /G/1 with three types of vacation periods including setup time. Three types of vacations are : N-policy, single vacation, and multiple vacation. We consider compound poisson arrival process and general service time, where the server starts his service when a setup is completed. We find the PGF of the number of customers in system and LST of waiting time, with welch we obtain their means. A decomposition property for the system sloe and waiting time is described also.
