To survive in the current shipbuilding industry, it is of vital importance for shipyards to have the ship components' accuracy evaluated efficiently during most of the manufacturing steps. Evaluating components' accuracy by comparing each component's point cloud data scanned by laser scanners and the ship's design data formatted in CAD cannot be processed efficiently when (1) extract components from point cloud data include irregular obstacles endogenously, or when (2) registration of the two data sets have no clear direction setting. This paper presents reformative point cloud data processing methods to solve these problems. K-d tree construction of the point cloud data fastens a neighbor searching of each point. Region growing method performed on the neighbor points of the seed point extracts the continuous part of the component, while curved surface fitting and B-spline curved line fitting at the edge of the continuous part recognize the neighbor domains of the same component divided by obstacles' shadows. The ICP (Iterative Closest Point) algorithm conducts a registration of the two sets of data after the proper registration's direction is decided by principal component analysis. By experiments conducted at the shipyard, 200 curved shell plates are extracted from the scanned point cloud data, and registrations are conducted between them and the designed CAD data using the proposed methods for an accuracy evaluation. Results show that the methods proposed in this paper support the accuracy evaluation targeted point cloud data processing efficiently in practice.
In this study, before and after sunset carbon dioxide concentration and air temperature were observed in two points of atmosphere (lower observation point of the GL + 0.1 m, the upper observation point of GL + 1.0 m) on the foreshore at located in Suncheon Bay and their variations were analyzed. Observation was performed on the foreshore on 2~4 August 2010. Instrument (VAISALA, GMP343) was set two hours before sunset and then observation was made continuously for six hours. In three days, observed carbon dioxide concentration was 375~419 ppm, and the air temperature was in the range of $28.7{\sim}32.5^{\circ}C$. The average concentration of carbon dioxide was 388~399 ppm in the upper observation point and 386~396 ppm in the lower observation point. It was higher in the upper observation point and its fluctuations were similar in two observation points. Correlation coefficients between carbon dioxide concentration and air temperature in the upper observation point were in the range of -0.64~-0.88, and were calculated -0.65 to -0.90 in the lower observation point. For the carbon dioxide concentration, correlation coefficients between the upper part and the lower part were very high as 0.98 in three times. For the air temperature, correlation coefficients between the upper part and the lower part were very high as 0.97 and 0.99. In the same observation time, the slope of the linear regression function as carbon dioxide concentration in the lower observation point for the upper observation point was in the range of 0.97~1.01. Carbon dioxide concentration was slightly higher in the upper observation point. Because carbon dioxide in the lower observation point was closer on the surface of the foreshore and absorbed from atmosphere to the foreshore. In this study, it was showed that the vertical variation of carbon dioxide concentration was insignificant in the several meter scale of atmosphere on the surface of the foreshore.

In this paper, we describe the optimization of the link-level performance and the complexity of floating-point and fixed-point methods in IEEE 802.16e OFDMA/TDD mobile modem. In floating-point design, we propose the channel estimation methods for downlink traffic channel and select the optimized method using computer simulation. So we also propose efficent algorithms for time and frequency synchronization, Digital Front End and CINR estimation scheme to optimize the system performance. Furthermore, we describe fixed-point method of uplink traffic and control channels. The superiority of the proposed algorithm is validated using the performances of Detection, False Alarm, Missing Probability and Mean Acquisition Time, PER Curve, etc. For fixed-point design, we propose an efficient methodology for optimized fixed-point design from floating-point At last, we design fixed-point of traffic channel, time and frequency synchronization, DFE block in uplink and downlink. The tradeoff between performance and complexity are optimized through computer simulations.
In this study, the experimental apparatus for boiling point and melting point in science textbooks of various curriculums were analyzed. Science teachers' views on the difference between the experimental value and the value written in textbooks were inquired, too. Their views on the experimental apparatus, nd results of freezing point, melting point, boiling point, fractional distillation, and thermometer calibration were also investigated. The results of this study showed that the types of experimental apparatus for boiling point and melting point were somewhat dif-ferent with science textbooks and curriculum. The teachers' views were also various according to their background. In the experiment of the fractional distillat ion, a large number of teachers recognized mismatch between the exper-imental value and the value written in textbooks as mistake of textbook contents or problem of experiment itself. The teachers of chemistry background take higher recognition of the requirement of thermometer calibration than those of non-chemistry background in middle school.
The notion that the axis of the shaft of the articulator must coincide the patient's mandibular transverse axis tells us the importance of locating the axis precisely. When using kinematic axis to transfer a cast to an articulator, the anatomic asymmetry of the contralateral points will result in certain distortion when the axis transferred to an articulator where the mechanical axis produces symmetry. In this study, after locating the true hinge axis point with Denar hinge axis locator, the discrepancies between true hinge axis point and arbitrary hinge axis point that was 13mm anterior from the posterior margin of center of trangus to the outer canthus of eye were measured. And the discrepancies between left and right true hinge axis point in the superoinferior and anteroposterior directions were measured. For this study, 20 dental students who have no missing teeth and no difficulties of mandibular movement were selected. Upper and lower cast of subjects were mounted on Denar Mark II articulator uisng Denar Slidematic face-bow and centric relation record for the measurement of discrepancies between left and right true hinge axis points. The results obtained as follows. 1. The mean distance from the arbitrary hinge axis point to the true hinge axis point was as follows. Right: horizontal distance; 1.99mm, vertical distance; 2.12mm, linear distance; 3.36 mm. Left: horizontal distance; 1.39mm, vertical distance; 2.06mm, linear distance; 2.09mm. Total: horizontal distance; 1.69mm, vertical distance; 2.09mm linear distance; 3.06 mm. 2. The 87.5% of true hinge axis points were within 5mm of the arbitrary hinge axis point. 3. The mean discrepancies between the right and left hinge axis point were 2.92mm in superoinferior direction and 4.74mm in anteroposterior direction. 4. When transferring the axis to the articulator, anatomic asymmetry between right: and left axis point produces in dislocation of cast on the articulator, and undesirable shift in esthetic tooth position will be resulted.
Rough rice is subjected to a series of static and dynamic forces during mechanical harvesting, handling and processing operations. The mechanical properties such as bioyield point, compressive strength, and deformations at the bioyield point and rupture point are important engineering data needed to develop processing machines and to determine reasonable operating conditions for these machines. The objectives of this study were to determine the mechanical properties of the rough rice kernel at loading rate of 0.664 mm/min and 1.673 mm/min and at various moisture contents, and to examine the effect of the moisture content and the loading rate on these mechanical properties. The follwing results were obtained from the study. 1. Bioyield point, rupture point, bioyield strength and ultimate strength of the rough rice kernel generally decreased in magnitude with an increase in moisture content. A little larger values of these mechanical properties were obtained at the higher loading rate. The rough rice variety and the loading rate affected significantly these mechanical properties at low moisture content, but not at the higher moisture levels. 2. Bioyield point of the sample grains varied from 20 to 80 N, and rupture point varied from 45 to 130N. Bioyield point for Japonica-type rough rice was a little higher than that for Indica-type rough rice, but there were little differnces in rupture point between two types of rough rice. 3. Bioyield strength and ultimate strength of the Japonica-type rough rice varied from 10 MPa. to 39 MPa., and from 13 MPa. to 45 MPa. respectively. Those of the Indica-type rough rice varied from 12 MPa. to 42 MPa., and from 15 MPa. to 53 MPa. respectively. 4. Deformations at bioyield point and rupture point ranged from 0.18 mm/min to 0.26 mm, and from 0.28 mm to 0.53 mm respectively. These deformations decreased with an increase in moisture content up to moisture content of approximately 17% (w.b.) and increased again thereafter. 5. Regression equations were developed to predict these mechanical properties for the rough rice kernel as a function of moisture content.
In this paper, we propose a vanishing point detection method using multiple initial vanishing points. Vanishing points are important geometric information that is used for reconstructing 3D structures. Three vanishing points are detected for indoor scenes. In the previous work, it could be inaccurate to detect only one initial vanishing point, because initial vanishing point getting most highest sum of voting could be deferent from the best initial vanishing point. Therefore the method which sets multiple initial vanishing point and detects a best vanishing point from them gives us preparation for the prior case. Also in this paper, we propose a adjusting vanishing point method by postprocessing of detected vanishing points. We could detect more accurate vanishing point by using postprocessing. Experimental results show that the accuracy of the vanishing point detection is about 1~2% higher than that of the existing method through the proposed method and the performance is improved accordingly.
A potential field method for solving the problem of path planning based on global and local information for a mobile robot moving among a set of stationary obstacles is described. The concept of various method used path planning is used design a planning strategy. A real human living area is constructed by many moving and imminence obstacles. Home service mobile robot must avoid many obstacles instantly. A path that safe and attraction towards the goal is chosen. The potential function depends on distance from the goal and heuristic function relies on surrounding environments. Three additional combined methods are proposed to apply to human living area, calibration robots position by measured surrounding environment and adapted home service robots. In this work, we proposed the application of various path planning theory to real area, human living. First, we consider potential field method. Potential field method is attractive method, but that method has great problem called local minimum. So we proposed intermediate point in real area. Intermediate point was set in doorframe and between walls there is connect other room or other area. Intermediate point is very efficiency in computing path. That point is able to smaller area, area divided by intermediate point line. The important idea is intermediate point is permanent point until destruction house or apartment house. Second step is move robot with sensing on front of mobile robot. With sensing, mobile robot recognize obstacle and judge moving obstacle. If mobile robot is reach the intermediate point, robot sensing the surround of point. Mobile robot has data about intermediate point, so mobile robot is able to calibration robots position and direction. Third, we gave uncertainty to robot and obstacles. Because, mobile robot was motion and sensing ability is not enough to control. Robot and obstacle have uncertainty. So, mobile robot planed safe path planning to collision free. Finally, escape local minimum, that has possibility occur robot do not work. Local minimum problem solved by virtual obstacle method. Next is some supposition in real living area.
Objectives This study was aimed at comparing clinical effectiveness among trigger point treatment, Self-exercise treatment, trigger point - self-exercise cooperative treatment for neck pain caused by traffic accidents. Methods 63 patients with neck pain by traffic accidents were divided into 3 groups. Different types of treatments were carried out for each groups ; group A with trigger point, group B with self-exercise, group C with trigger point and self-exercise cooperative treatment. 3 groups were also treated with general acupuncture and herb-medicine treatment. Pain threshold, visual analogue scale (VAS), and neck disability index (NDI) were checked on a daily basis. SPSS ver. 18.0 for Windows was used for analysis of data. The effectiveness of treatment of each groups were verified by using paired test and one-way repeated-measures ANOVA test, and the comparison of VAS, NDI and pain threshold were demonstrated by independent samples t-test. Results 3 groups all showed significant difference in pain threshold, VAS and NDI after 8 days later. Group C showed more improvement in pain threshold, VAS and NDI than shown in group A and B. In the first period (from pre-treatment to 4th day treatment) group C showed significant difference in NDI and pain threshold but not in VAS as compared to group A and B. In the second period (from 4th treatment to 8th day treatment), Group C showed significant difference in pain threshold, VAS and NDI as compared to group A and B. Conclusions Trigger point - self-exercise cooperative treatment is proved to be more helpful to improve the unstability and reduce neck pain than trigger point treatment or self-exercise treatment only, therefore eventually leading to better satisfaction for patients with neck pain.
