  • To date, chemical managements of plant bacterial diseases are complicated by limitations on use of antibiotics in agriculture, antibiotic resistance development, and limited efficacy of alternative control agents. In this study, thus, we performed screening of eco-friendly farming material (notice no. 2-4-064) containing tannic acid as new antibacterial-activity against 7 plant bacterial pathogens: Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc), Ralstonia solanacearum (Rs), Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli (Aac), Xanthomonas cirti pv. citri (Xcc), Erwinia pyrifoliae (Ep), Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm), and Streptomyces scabies (Sc), Initial screening of antibacterial effects of eco-friendly farming material was performed using the paper disk diffusion method and co-cultivation in broth culture. Tannic acid based eco-friendly farming material showed inhibitory effect against Pcc, Rs, Aac, Xcc, Cmm, and Ss, whereas it did not show inhibition zone against Ep. However, when it tested by co-cultivation in broth culture, it showed strong inhibition effect against all pathogens that declined growth curve compared to bacterial pathogen only. Interestingly, when we observed morphological changes on those pathogens by SEM, cell morphologies of 7 pathogens were slightly changed that seem to be malfunction in their cell envelope.

  • To analysis effect of environment factors on productivity of sweet pepper according to greenhouse covering material (glass, plastic film), this was investigated. In glasshouse, outside light was positively correlated with yield as that $100MJ{\cdot}m^{-2}$ of outside light increased $300{\sim}500g{\cdot}m^{-2}$, also cumulative temperature was same tendency. On possibility of model development for yield estimate cumulative temperature was high than outside light. According to covering material, leaf photosynthesis, productivity per out-side light and term in glasshouse was more high 13%, 46%, and 47% compared with plastic film house, respectively. Result of analysis of effect of light, temperature, and $CO_2$ on yield, relative yield coefficient, yield increment coefficient, and yield reduction coefficient in glasshouse were more high 25%, 73%, and 34% compared with plastic film house, respectively. Hence, sweet pepper's growing in glasshouse compare with plastic film house had more productivity, but that had more sensitivity to charge of environment factors.

  • The degradation of a boiler header constructed by a material, 1Cr-0.5Mo steel in a fossil power plant is observed when the header is exposed for a long period to the high temperature and pressure. The present investigations are for evaluating the effect of the degradation on the material, such as its strength changes. Reheat-treated metal is used to compare the mechanical properties of the degraded and that of reheat-treated materials. Through the investigation, following results are obtained 1) the area ratio of ferrite in the reheat-treated material is larger than that of the degraded material, 2) the hardness and tensile strength of the degraded material are lower than that of the reheat-treated material, 3) the ductile-brittle transition temperature(DBTT) increased toward high temperature region, 4) the fatigue crack growth rate(FCGR) of the degraded material is higher than that of the reheat-treated material in the region of low ΔK value while FCGR of the both materials are similar in high ΔK region.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the use of material flow cost accounting (MFCA) in Vietnam's coal-fired thermal power plants. This study is based on the contingency and system theories to explain the application of management tools and analyze steps of input, output, and process in manufacturing. Costs in producing process-based MFCA include material cost, energy cost, system cost, and waste management cost. The exploratory case study methodology is used to describe and answer two questions, namely "How coal flow cost is recognized?" and "Why waste in material consumption can be harmful to the environment?". By analyzing the Quang Ninh and Pha Lai coal-fired thermal power plants that are the typical plants, this paper identifies the flow of primary material in these plants as a basis for determining losses for the business. The material flow of coal-fired thermal power plants provides the basis for the use of the MFCA. The manufacturing of electrical items in these plants is divided into four stages, each with its own set of losses. As a result, some phases in the application of MFCA are suggested, as well as some other elements required for MFCA application in coal-fired thermal power plants.

  • In this paper, the plant layout planning is optimized at the K-area of the K-airline. The K-area includes 15 activies. The initial solution is found qualitatively by designing a space relationship diagram for the relationship. The cost of material handling is minimized by finding the final layout plan using CRAFT. In comparing to the master plan of K-airline, the final layout plan in this research can reduce the cost of material handling by 52%.

  • This paper presents a position control of ultra-precision machine tool post using piezoelectric material. A stack-type piezoelectric actuator is employed in a hinge-type tool holder. An assumed linear transfer function of the practical nonlinear plant is established through the comparison of transfer functions and step responses in the experiments and the simulations. Several types of feedforward/feedback controllers are designed via computer simulations using the assumed linear transfer function, The position tracking control experiments are undertaken to show the control efficiency of each controller.

  • This paper presents the current state of knowledge on molten material relocation into the lower plenum. Consequences of movement of material to the lower head are considered with regardt to the potential for reactor pressure vessel failure from both thermal hydraulic and mechanical standpoints. The models are applied to evaluating various in-vessel retention strategies for the Korean Standard power plant (KSNPP) reactor The results are summarized in terms of thermal response of the reactor vessel from the very relevant severe accident management perspective.

  • The Hosta 'Hwangnarae' was bred at the Korea National Arboretum, which was induced using ethyl-methanesulfonate (EMS) to obtain mutants. Among the leaf variegated Hosta plants, some with yellowish-green color pattern on the edge of the leaves was selected. They were cultivated through vegetative production. Assessment of the botanical characteristics was executed for six years from 2013 to 2018. Major characteristics such as yellowish-green color pattern on the edge of leaves appeared uniformly and was finally selected in 2019. The Hosta 'Hwangnarae' that have been bred in this way can prove to be useful as material for a ground cover plant or pot plant.

  • Ripe fruit of pepper (Capsicum annuum) showed resistance to Colletotrichum gloeoporioides, but unripe fruit was susceptible. We previously isolated the PepTLP gene that induced in both unripe and ripe fruit by fungal infection and wound, and only in ripe fruit by jasmonic acid (JA) treatment. To examine further regulation of PepTLP, the action of specific agonist and antagonists of known signaling effector on the .PepTLP expression by fungal infection, wound, and JA was investigated. A similar dephosphorylation event negatively activated all the PepTLP expression in the ripe fruit by fungal infection, wound, and JA. The induction of PepTLP expression by wound is differentially regulated via phosphorylation and dephosphorylation step during pre- and post-ripening, respectively. In addition, the induction of PepTLP expression in the ripe fruit by wound and JA is differentially regulated via dephosphorylation and phosphorylation step, respectively. Only both wound and JA treatment has synergistic effect on the PepTLP expression in the unripe fruit. Both SA and JA treatments on the unripe fruit, and both wound or JA and SA on the ripe fruit could not do any effect on the expression of PepTLP. These results suggest that the induction of PepTLP expression is differentially regulated via complex regulatory system against fungal infection, wound, and JA treatment during pre- and post-ripening of pepper fruit.
