  • This paper presents a new methodology that can evaluate transfer capability of composite power systems from the adequacy point of view in power system planning stages. First of all, to evaluate practical load supplying capability, nonlinear optimization problems of maximum load supplying capability(MLSC) and economic load supplying capability(ELSC) are formulated and solved by nonlinear primal-dual interior point method. Here, physical constraints considered in the optimization problems are the limits of bus voltage, line overloading, and real & reactive power generation. Also, an evaluation method of transfer capability is presented based on margins calculated by the MLSC and ELSC. Especially, to evaluate transfer capability flexibly, simple indices such as expected MLSC, transfer capability margin, and power not supplied are respectively proposed by considering (N-1) line outage probability. Numerical results on IEEE RTS 24, IEEE 118, and IEEE 300 bus system show that the proposed algorithm is effective and useful for power system planning stages.

  • As sustainable development and environment-friendly efforts in large-scale development projects emerge as major interests at home and abroad, man-made wetlands and eco-park facilities have been newly planned or created when developing reclamation districts recently. In this study, based on findings from a comprehensive review of relevant studies and planning cases, the basic direction and objectives of the plan were developed. A comprehensive analysis on the status of ecological environment and demographic and social environment showed that the planned site is in a process of migrating from early stages of reclamation to middle stages. It was planned for the eco-park to function as a major base along an ecological network consisting a freshwater lake and rivers and streams flowing into the lake in Hwaong District. Through a master plan and sectoral plans were planned according to desalination levels after reclamation. Then, habitats for livings organisms were also planned. The eco-park, the planned site, is also in a process of migrating from the early stages to middles stages. By creating an eco-park that considers post-reclamation ecological environment changes, natural succession processes will be preserved, which is expected to help local ecosystems to restore their functions on their own over a relatively long period of time and enable to observe the restoration process.

  • Although the General Agricultural Fishing Village Development Project had a significant impact on the landscape formation and management in rural area, the rural landscape planning and project sectors was not stable by fluctuation variables. On the basic understanding the institutional status of rural landscape planning, some conclusions could be discussed as follows through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative changes and the background factors. The rural landscape plan lacked its own legal and institutional foundations, and the landscape project of the General Agricultural Fishing Village Development Project was mainly focused on the environment-improving H/W project for expanding the basic living infrastructures. In order to reflect the characteristics of the region and become independent rural landscape management, it is necessary to change the contents so that the S/W business such as the deepening landscape awareness and empowerment linked with improving the physical landscape. To this end, it is necessary to establish a foundation for the rural landscape planning system to have its own status, and it seems to seek to supplement with what is included S/W contents reflecting the context of higher level landscape planning. The landscape sector of the General Agricultural Fishing Village Development Project proved to be in the process of shrinking in both quantity and quality, despite the temporary expansion in the past. In addition, considering the distortion of the contents of landscape projects in rural sites, it seems that the rural landscape-related public project are now in a position to seek a new phase change beyond quantitative expansion. In particular, along with institutional improvements to secure the independent status of rural landscape planning that contributes to village community regeneration and social sustainability through the role of intermediary support organizations in landscape management activities. Through the integrated landscape plan, which is established in advance and led by the residents in the early stages, there is a need to change the direction to enhance meaning of the landscape planning goes beyond the facility design or space improvement.

This study was designed to propose systemizing for fashion trend information planning in domestic fashion information service market. The empirical research was conducted by analysing in-depth interview data and news-scrap contents about each fashion information planning company. The result are as follows; First, fashion information service showed a little difference according to the type of fashion information companies, but they provided not only general fashion trends but also external market environmental information, survey-based consumer information and various segmented market research reports including academic information. Second, the fashion information planning process is largely divided into 3 stages; trend analysis, trend forecasting, trend application. The trend application step is the stage which connects the fashion information service industry to the fashion business. Thirdly, as a result of the competitive power evaluation for fashion information planning, the domestic fashion information planning companies came to reveal the fact that the possibility of carrying out and information analysis power were weak, however, how to present trend information had a relatively competitive. Consequently, this study is expected to play a role in understanding the importance of fashion trend information, and further ahead it would be helpful to organize the curriculum of fashion information planning subject in order to educate the future fashion executives.

  • This study investigated the influences of an instructional method related to problem solving. The new instruction consists of a four-stage problem-solving strategy emphasizing 'planning' and 'checking' stages, and a think-aloud paired problem solving in order to check students' performances in solving problems. Two high school classes (n=91) were randomly assigned to the treatment and the control groups. Prior to the instructions. students' perception of involvement and self-efficacy were examined, and their scores were used as covariates in the analysis. Students' problem-solving ability, perception of involvement. and self-efficacy were examined after the instructions. The test scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the problem-solving ability and the perception of involvement. However, there was no significant difference between the scores of the two groups in the self-efficacy.

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze chemistry problem solving processes of middle school students and to compare their problem solving behaviors in the aspects of the cognitive developmental level of student, the success in problem solving, and the context of problem. Their failures in solving problems were also analyzed in the aspects of problem solving stage and prior knowledge. Forty-two students individually solved four problems regarding density and solubility using a think-aloud method. Students' responses were analyzed after intercoder agreement for analyzing problem-solving processes had been established to be 0.94. The results were as follows: 1. Most students solved chemistry problems following the stages of understanding, planning, and solving, while few exhibited the behaviors of the reviewing stage. There was also individual difference in the number of the stages repeated and their behaviors at each stage. 2. Most students were successful in understanding problems. However, unsuccessful and/or concrete-operational students had more difficulties in understanding problems than successful and/or formal-operational students, and students tended to have more difficulties in understanding problems in everyday contexts than in scientific contexts. 3. Successful and/or formal-operational students exhibited more behaviors of the planning stage than unsuccessful and/or concrete-operational students. Students showed more behaviors of the planning stage, but failed more at this stage, in everyday contexts than in scientific contexts. 4. Most students did not review their solutions. Successful and/or formal-operational students exhibited these behaviors more than unsuccessful and/or concrete-operational students. Students tended to exhibit the behaviors more in everyday contexts than in scientific contexts. 5. Many students failed to solve problems correctly due to the lack of prior knowledge and the inability to plan appropriately.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted with the aim of presenting spatial planning directions for evacuation spaces based on an analysis of the performance of horizontal evacuation during the early stages of fire incidents in a geriatric hospital. Methods: Based on a review of previous studies, the research model was designed by establishing occupancy conditions, evacuation, and fire scenarios. The analysis model was developed by considering vulnerable areas in terms of evacuation movement and analyzing the results of evacuation performance. Furthermore, the study analyzed the improvement in evacuation performance by arranging refuge areas. Results: The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, vulnerability spots were identified in terms of evacuation performance by schematizing Required Safe Egress Time, Available Safe Egress Time, and their differences. Secondly, the Required Safe Egress Time in the adjacent public spaces along the escape routes of occupants was found to be higher compared to the Available Safe Egress Time. Thirdly, the results of the correlation analysis between the difference in Available Safe Egress Time and Required Safe Egress Time during the early stages of a fire, as well as their constituent factors, demonstrated that user congestion is a more significant factor in compromising evacuation safety than the physical changes in the fire condition. Fourthly, the analysis of evacuation time was conducted by designating refuge areas where occupants can evacuate within a sufficient timeframe. This led to a decrease in the Required Safe Egress Time. Implications: This study is expected to be used as data on the direction of evacuation space planning to improve the evacuation performance of Geriatric Hospital.
