Purpose: This study investigated the influence of attention-demanding tasks on gait and measured differences in the temporal, spatial and kinematic characteristics between young healthy adults and elderly healthy adults. Methods: We recruited 16 healthy young adults and 15 healthy elderly adults in this study. All participants performed two cognitive tasks: a subtraction dual-task (SDT) and working memory dual-task (WMDT) during gait plus one normal gait. Using the LEGSys+ system, knee and hip-joint kinematic data during stance and swing phase and spatiotemporal parameter data were assessed in this study. Results: In the elderly adult group, attention-demanding tasks with gait showed a significant decrease in hip-joint motion during the stance phase, compared to the normal gait. Step length, stride length and stride velocity of the elderly adult group were significantly decreased in WMDT gait compared to normal gait (p<0.05). In the young adult group, kinematic data did not show any significant difference. However, stride velocity and cadence during SDT and WMDT gaits were significantly decreased compared to those of normal gait (p<0.05). Conclusion: We determined that attention-demanding tasks during gait in elderly adults can induce decreased hip-joint motion during stance phase and decreased gait speed and stride length to maintain balance and prevent risk of falling. We believe that understanding the changes during gait in older ages, particularly during attention-demanding tasks, would be helpful for intervention strategies and improved risk assessment.
Longterm memory is encoded in the neuronal connectivities of the brain. The most successful models of human memory in their operations are models of distributed and self-organized associative memory, which are founded in the principle of simulaneous convergence in network formation. Memory is not perceived as the qualities inherent in physical objects or events, but as a set of relations previously established in a neural net by simultaneousy occuring experiences. When it is easy to find correlations with existing neural networks through analysis of network structures, memory is automatically encoded in cerebral cortex. However, in the emergence of informations which are complicated to classify and correlated with existing networks, and conflictual with other networks, those informations are sent to the subcortex including hippocampus. Memory is stored in the form of templates distributed across several different cortical regions. The hippocampus provides detailed maps for the conjoint binding and calling up of widely distributed informations. Knowledge about the distribution of correlated networks can transform the existing networks into new one. Then, hippocampus consolidats new formed network. Amygdala may enable the emotions to influence the information processing and memory as well as providing the visceral informations to them. Cortico-striatal-pallido-thalamo-cortical loop also play an important role in memory function with analysis of language and concept. In case of difficulty in processing in spite of parallel process of informations, frontal lobe organizes theses complicated informations of network analysis through temporal processing. With understanding of brain mechanism of memory and information processing, the brain mechanism of mental phenomena including psychopathology can be better explained in terms of neurobiology and meuropsychology.

Security key generation method by hardware or software related techniques have been variously proposed. This study analyzed the existing security key generation techniques, and propose the design of a new NAND Bad block based security key(NBSK) using a Bad Block information in the NAND flash memory, and propose a new encryption method using the same. Bad Block present in the NAND flash memory is also generated during production and sometimes occur during operations. Initial Bad Block information generated during production is not changed, Bad Block information that may occur during operation has a characteristic that can be changed periodically. This study is designed of the new secure key using initial Bad Block information physical address generated during manufacturing a NAND flash memory, and proposed of the new encryption method. With the proposed key and method can satisfy the general security characteristics, such as the creation and distribution of the secure key authentication and confidentiality and the simplicity of the security key.
This study was to investigate the effect of eye movement and intentional finger movement on cognitive ability. Normal adult subjects were randomly divided into two groups: saccadic eye movement(SEM) and intentional finger movement(IFM). After 2 weeks of intervention, Digit span was used for short-term memory test and N-back was used for working memory test. As a result, the short-term memory of the IFM group increased significantly over time, and the follow-up test showed difference between group. The IFM group's the execution time, the error count and the accuracy rate of n-back item showed significant effects over time. The SEM group's the execution time and the accuracy of n-back item showed significant effects over time. In conclusion, the IFM method, which is a multiple stimulus that can activate the cerebral cortex more extensively than the single stimulus SEM, may be more useful as an intervention method of cognitive function improvement.
One of the most important characteristics of digital forensics is integrity. Integrity means that the data has not been tampered with. If evidence is collected during digital forensic and later tampered with, it cannot be used as evidence. With analog evidence, it's easy to see if it's been tampered with, for example, by taking a picture of it. However, the data on the storage media, or digital evidence, is invisible, so it is difficult to tell if it has been tampered with. Therefore, hash values are used to prove that the evidence data has not been tampered with during the process of collecting evidence and submitting it to the court. The hash value is collected from the stored data during the evidence collection phase. However, due to the internal behavior of NAND flash memory, the physical data shape may change over time from the acquisition phase. In this paper, we study the characteristics and techniques of flash memory that can cause the physical shape of flash memory to change even if no intentional data corruption is attempted.
As the society becomes more industrialized and modernized, we have more chances to experience a serious traumatic event. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has 3 major categories of symptoms such as memory disturbance, hyperarousal and avoidance or numbness. I reviewed the psychobiological evidences in 3 main categories of symptoms and the biological treatment after a brief review of the epidemiology, psychosocial etiology and diagnosis of PTSD. The memory disturbance of PTSD might be developed by the potentiation of the memory pathway mediated by norepinephrine. PTSD induces HPA axis abnormality, it might also develop hippocampal dysfunction, which might contribute to the memory disturbance. The kindling effect develops desensitization, which might develop reexperiencing of the traumatic events and hyperarousal state. Chronic aroused state of locus ceruleus with resultant chronic maladaptive state of norepinephrine system, might develop hyperarousal state. Social avoidance and physical numbing state in PTSD might be caused by serotnin or opiate system. Stress induced analgesia might be developed by opiate reliesed against the acute stress. The biologic research results would help the selective treatment of PTSD.
Digital simulation algorithms and program for multimachine dynamic stability have been developed which represent the effects of machines much more complety than have been available previously. Emphasis is given to the savings of the memory spaces required, thus making it possible to use a small computer with limited capacity of core storage (without auxiliary storage). Both d- and q- aris quantities are fully represented, and the speed-governing and voltage-regulating system available are ertensive, thus allowing a very close approximation to any physical system. Facilities for dynamic and nonlinear loads are also included. The computational algorithms and program developed have been shown to be extensive and complete, and are very desirable features minimizing memory spaces for stability calculations. The capabilities have been demonstrated by several case studies for an actual power system of 44 generators, 22 loads and 33 buses. About 13-K words of memory spaces have been required for the case studies on the basis of two words per real variable and a word per integer variable.
Mani Memory DataBase(MMDB) system store their data in main physical memory and provide very high-speed access. Conventional database system are optimized for the particular characteristics of disk storage mechanism. Memory resident systems, on the other hand, use different optimizations to structure and organize data, as well as to make it reliable. This paper provides a brief overview on MMDBs and the results after evaluating the performance of our simple MMDB based on Embedded system.
A physical phenomenon is observed through analysis of the Hodgkin-Huxley's model that is, according to Maxwell field equations a fired neuron can yield magnetic fields. The magnetic signals are an output of the neuron as some type of information, which may be supposed to be the conscious control information. Therefore, study on neural networks should take the field effect into consideration. Accordingly, a study on the behavior of a unit neuron in the field is made and a new neuron model is proposed. A mathematical Memory-Learning Relation has been derived from these new neuron equations, some concepts of memory and learning are introduced. Two learning theorems are put forward, and the control mechanisms of memory are also discussed. Finally, a theory, i.e. Neural Electromagnetic(NEM) field theory is advanced.

Shape memory is physical phenomenon which a platically metal is restored to its original shape by a solid state phase change by heating. TiNi alloy the most effective material in the shape memory alloy(SMA). To study(measure) recovery stress of intelligent composite. Ti50-Ni50 shape memory matrix with prestrain SMA fiber. When SMA fiber of the intelligent composite is heated over austenite starting temperature(As) by electric heating. a recovery stress are generated. The recovery stress of the intelligent composite was measured by strain gage or photoelastic experiment. Measuring method of recovery stress by photoelastic experiment was developed in this research. It was certified that photoelastic experiment was more effective and more precise than strain gage method in the measurement of recovery stress.
