거창지역의 쥬라기 화강암에 발달된 결의 특성 (Characteristics of the Rock Cleavage in Jurassic Granite, Geochang)

  • 거창지역의 쥬라기 화강암에 대하여 결의 특성에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 미세균열에 의하여 형성된 구조적 이방성을 주로 논의하였다. 미세균열의 분포상은 박편의 확대사진(${\times}6.7$)에서 잘 확인되었다. 일차 우세 미세균열은 1번 면에 평행하고 이차 우세 미세균열은 2번 면에 평행하다. 이들 1번 결과 2번 결을 형성하는 미세균열은 3번 면상에서 상호 거의 수직을 이룬다. 방향각(${\theta}$)-총 길이($L_t$), 빈도수(N) 및 밀도(${\rho}$)의 도표에서 상기 미세균열의 모수의 곡선형태는 미세균열의 분포상을 반영한다. 빈도수, 길이 및 밀도와 같은 미세균열의 모수들은 1번 결 > 2번 결 > 3번 결의 순서로 나타난다. 이러한 결과는 결의 상대적인 강도를 지시한다. 한편 6개 방향에 따른 압열 인장강도가 측정되었다. 강도와 위의 미세균열의 모수들 사이에는 밀접한 상관성을 보이고 있다. 이러한 전반적인 결과는 포천 및 합천지역의 쥬라기 화강암류에 대한 기존의 연구결과와 부합한다. 박편의 확대사진에 대한 이미지 처리 기법을 수행하였다. 사진 상에서 석영 및 장석 내부에서 발달하는 그레인 1(G1) 미세균열의 배열이 탁월한 분포를 보여준다. 특히 위의 사진에 대한 간단한 이미지 처리를 통하여 각 미세균열 조의 방향각을 용이하게 확인할 수가 있다.

  • The present study summarizes the occurrence, distribution and autecology of the genus Micrasterias Ralfs among desmids collected from several swamps, reservoirs, rivers and high land wetlands in South Korea from 2009 to 2013. In total 21 taxa of Micrasterias including three new species, Micrasterias spinosus sp. nov., M. jejuensis sp. nov. and M. koreanus sp. nov., were identified. In this study, photomicrographs of all of these are provided and briefly discussed with regard to their taxonomy, distribution and ecology within South Korea.

  • The chemical durability of six alumino fluorophosphate glass samples studied. The composition of glass varied with MgF2 content from 0 to 12.5wt% in 30AlF3-2MgF2-(50-x)MF2-10P2O5(M; Sr, Ba). Samples were maintained in distilled water at 95$^{\circ}C$ from 1 to 100hrs. Weight loss, pH change and leached elements of the solution, and IR transmittance of samples were measured and also their surfaces were observed by SEM. Chemical durabilities of these samples were increased with increasing MgF2 contents. The following various properties were increased rapidly up to 10 hours after that changed slowly. The sample after leached at 95$^{\circ}C$ during 100 hrs showed 0.5mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in weight loss. The pH of leached solution is 6.2 and concentration of Mg, Sr, and Ba element of that leached solution were 24,115 and 125 ppm, respectively. The infrared transmittance of leached sample decreased 7% compare to unleached one. And also SEM photomicrograph and EDS analysis showed that the corrosion of samples were decreased with respect to increasing MgF2 content.

Effects of Preparation Method and Evaluations on Structural Integrity in Model Antigen-Containing Biodegradable Microspheres for Vaccine Delivery

  • To demonstrate the effect of formulation conditions and evaluations of structural integrity from ovalbumin containing poly lactide glycolide copolymer (PLGA) microspheres for Vaccine delivery, OVA microspheres were prepared by a W/O/W multiple emulsion solvent extraction technique. Dichloromethan (DCM) and Ethyl acetate (EA) were applied as an organic phase and poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) as a secondary emulsion stabilizer. Microspheres were characterized for particle size, morphology (optical microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)). Protein denaturation was evaluated by size exclusion chromatography (SEC), SDS-PAGE and isoelectric focusing (IEF). Residual organic solvent was estimated by gas chromatography (GC) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Optical photomicrograph and SEM revealed that micro spheres were typically spherical but various morphologies were observed. Mean particle size $(d_{vs})$ of microspheres were in the range of $3{\sim}50{\mu}m$. Also, The protein stability was not affected by the fonnulation process and residual organic solvent was beyond the detection below 0.1ppm. These results demonstrated that micro spheres might be a good candidate for the parenteral vaccine delivery system.

A new free-living marine nematode species of the genus Belbolla (Enoplida, Enchelidiidae) from a subtidal zone of the East Sea, Korea, with some ecological and biogeographical information

  • A new free-living marine nematode species of the genus Belbolla Andrássy, 1973 belonging to the family Enchelidiidae is described based on specimens collected from the sediment of a subtidal benthic environmental habitat in the East Sea, Korea. Belbolla wonkimi sp. nov. differs from its congeners by the combination of the following characteristics: a relatively long body (3263-3396 ㎛), the absence of ocelli, nine oesophageal bulbs in the posterior pharynx, well-developed two winged precloacal supplements, longer spicule length(115-130㎛, 1.6-1.8 anal body diameter long), and a triangle-shaped shorter gubernacular apophysis (17-18 ㎛). Comparative tables on the biogeographical and morphological characteristics of Belbolla species are presented. A DIC (differential interference contrast) photomicrograph of the new species is also provided. This is the first taxonomic report on the genus Belbolla from Korean waters.

파라핀 기반의 조직회수도구를 사용한 채취 조직의 진단 프로토콜 개발 (Development of Diagnosis Protocol for Micro-spike Biopsy Using Paraffin-based Tissue Collecting tool)

  • We have developed and reported several micro-spikes for minimally invasive biopsy. This paper presents a diagnosis protocol for micro-spike biopsy using paraffin-based tissue collecting tool. Using the proposed tissue collecting tool, which has a negative micro-spike structure in a porous chamber, the biopsied tissue in a micro-spike is effectively detached. The proposed diagnosis protocol prevents the loss of tissues in a paraffin embedding and sectioning process. Hence, it is compatible with conventional histopathology without additional reagents and processes. The gastro-intestinal tissue of a pig is biopsied in an in vivo environment, and then it is detached from a micro-spike using the paraffin-based tissue collecting tool. A histopathological photomicrograph of the detached tissue is acquired with the proposed diagnosis protocol. The acquired image offers clinical quality. This result shows that the paraffin-based tissue collecting tool is applicable to the medical practice.

  • 폐농양의 치료 중에 발생하는 기질화 폐렴은 흔하게 관찰 되는 소견은 아니다. 기질화 폐렴은 특별한 원인 없이 발생하기도 하지만, 감염의 치료 과정에서 이차적 기질화 폐렴이 발생 할 수도 있다. 본 증례는 62세 남자 환자에서 폐농양을 치료하는 과정에서 발생한 기질화 폐렴을 경기관지 폐생검을 통해 확인하고 부신피질 호르몬을 투여로 효과적으로 치료한 예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

생체용 순수 Ti 주조체의 냉각방법에 따른 주조조직과 부식특성 및 경도에 관한 연구 (A study on microstructure, corrosion characteries and hardness of pure Ti according to cooling methods)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the microstucture and hardness, corrosion of pure Ti alloy, which is widely used as partial denture frame work these days, depending on the cooling method, followed by casting. The first group was bench cooling at room temperature($18^{\circ}C$), the second group was slowly cooled in the furnace from $700^{\circ}C$ to room temperature, and third. rapidly cooled in $0^{\circ}C$ water. The microstructure of each specimen observed by means of photomicrograph taken by electron microscope, in add to the physical characteristics of each specimen were obtained using the rockwell Hardnest Number. the characteristics of corrosion. The results were obtained as follows: 1. From Potentiodynamic plot. we conclude furnace-cooled specimen had the best stabiltity of passive film and that air-cooled specimen showed similar characteristics. The density of electric current of quenched specimen was the highest, which formed kind of unstable passive film. 2. Specimen cooled at room temperature (air cooling) had the highest value of hardness of 81.26HRB, specimen cooled at ice-water, $0^{\circ}C$, had the value of 78.42HRB, and specimen furnace-cooled at $700^{\circ}C$ had lowest value of 77.1HRB. 3. Quenching treated micro-structure formed martensite structure by and large. In case of air cooling, we could see $\alpha$-structure widmanstatten formed overall. In furnace cooling, widmanstatten structure and various shape $\alpha$-structures forming colony with direction were detected.

LPS로 유도된 RAW264.7 Cell과 마우스모델에 대한 잘피 에탄올 추출물의 항염증 효과 (Anti-inflammatory Effect of Zostera marina Ethanolic Extract on LPS-induced RAW264.7 Cells and Mouse Model)

  • The Zostera marina ethanolic extract (ZMEE) was tested in this study to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells and mouse model. Nitric oxide production and inducible nitiric oxide synthase expression in cells treated with ZMEE was reduced significantly in a dose-dependent manner. Similarly, the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-6, IL-$1{\beta}$, and TNF-${\alpha}$ was inhibited markedly. In addition, the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) and the phosphorylation of JNK, ERK, and p38 MAPKs was suppressed by ZMEE as well. In vivo test, ZMEE attenuated the croton oil-induced mouse ear edema and there were no mortalities in mice administered 5,000 mg/kg body weight of ZMEE during the observation periods. The results in photomicrograph of mice ear tissue showed the reduction of dermal thickness and the number of infiltrated mast cells. These results indicate that ZMEE inhibits the production of LPS-induced pro-inflammatory mediators, suggesting that ZMEE may be a potential material for anti-inflammatory therapies.
