A Linear Photodiode Array Detector System for Multichannel Spectroscopic Applications

  • A multichannel optical detector system employing a self-scanning linear photodiode array has been developed. The photodiode array detector system is designed for various applications which require fast, multichannel detection of transient signals. The detector system consists of a controller which runs on an IBM personal computer and a detector head connected to the controller through a DB-15 cable. The entire scanning of 1024 detector elements is achieved in 20 ms. By using an on-board 16-bit counter/timer, the operational mode of the photodiode array detector is fully programmable by software. The design considerations and the performance of the photodiode array detector system is presented.

실리콘 v-groove를 이용한 광섬유-광검출기 어레이 모듈 제작 (Fabrication of the Optical Fiber-Photodiode Array Module Using Si v-groove)

  • We describe the design, fabrication, and performance of the optical fiber-photodiode 1$\times$12 arry module using mesa-type InS10.53T GaS10.47TAS/INP 1$\times$12 PIN photodiode array. We fabricated the PIN PD array for high-speed optical fiber parallel data link optimizing quantum efficiency, operating speed sensitivity from the PIN-FET structure, and electrical AC crosstalk. For each element of the array, the diameter of the photodetective area is 80 $\mu$m, the diameter of the p-metal pad is 90 $\mu$m, and the photodiode seperation is 250 $\mu$m to use Si v-groove. Ground conductor line is placed around diodes and p-metal pads are formed in zigzag to reduce Ac capacitance coupling between array elements. The dark current (IS1dT) is I nA and the capacitance(CS1pDT) is 0.9 pF at -5 V. No signifcant variations of IS1dT and CPD from element to element in the array were observed. We calulated the coupling efficiency for 10/125 SMF and 50/125 GI MMF, and measured the responsivity of the PD array at the wavelength is 1.55 $\mu$ m. Responsivities are 0.93 A/W for SMF and 0.96 A/W for MMF. The optical fiber-PD array module is useful in numerous high speed digital and analog photonic system applications.

모세관 전기영동 장치용 Photodiode Array 다채널 검출기의 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of a Multi - channel Detector for Capillary Electrophoresis System)

  • 수 많은 광검출기들이 직선으로 집적된 광다이오드 어레이를 이용한 모세관 전기영동장치용 다채널 검출기를 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 광다이오드 어레이는 1024개의 광검출소자를 가지고 있으며 275~675 nm 파장범위에서 시료의 흡수분광스펙트럼을 검출할 수 있다. 이 장치는 30 ms내에 전 파장영역의 스펙트럼을 얻을 수 있으며, PC에 의하여 시료분석에 필요한 여러 가지 조건들을 제어할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 개발된 검출기의 성능을 L-ascorbic acid와 alizarin yellow GG를 사용하여 시험하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 모세관 전기영동장치용 다채널 검출기의 재현성 실험결과 상대 표준편차는 5.6%이었다.

HPLC의 Photodiode Array Detector에 의한 과채류중의 Diamino Diphenyl Sulfone 분석 (Determination of Diamino Diphenyl Sulfone in Vegetable and Fruits by HPLC)

  • This study was carried out to determine and confirm of Dapsone in vegetables and fruits which were illegally used for freshness. We have developed a simple, arpid and precise method that Dapsone can be analyzed in the cabbages, grapes and strawberry by HPLC with photodiode array detector. Experimental subjects were included 15 cases of cabbages, 10 cases of grapes and 10 cases of strawberries purchased in Kangwon, Chungchong province and the Seoul area. The results were obtained that Dapsone in the experimental subject was separated completely within 10 min. Detection limit of Dapsone was 0.5 ng. Aberage recoveries from cabbages, grapes and strawberries were 93.3$\pm$0.37%, 91.4$\pm$0.65% respectively. 4 cases of cabbages were detected Dapsone and the amount was below the 0.3 ppm. There was not detected Dapsone in any grape and strawberry samples.

Simultaneous Determination of Cinnamaldehyde and Coumarin in Oryeong-san using HPLC with Photodiode Array Detector

  • Objectives : To develop and validate High-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array methods for simultaneous determination of two constituents in Oryeong-san(ORS). Methods : Reverse-phase chromatography using a Gemini C18 column operating at $40^{\circ}C$, and photodiode array(PDA) detection at 280 nm, were used for quantification of the two marker components of ORS. The mobile phase using a gradient flow consisted of two solvent systems. Solvent A was $H_2O$ and solvent B was acetonitrile. Results : Calibration curves were acquired with correlation coefficient ($r^2$)>0.9999, and the relative standard deviation(RSD) values(%) for intra- and inter-day precision were not exceed 1.0%. The recovery rate of each compound was in the range of 93.01-104.16%, with an RSD less than 2.0%. The contents of two compounds in ORS were 1.10-3.72 mg/g. Conclusions : The established HPLC method will be helpful to improve quality control of ORS.

  • This paper proposed a new solid State Relay(SSR) structure that can replace the conventional SSR as a power IC. The photodiode arrays, the main part of this structure, were designed and integrated in the same power It chip with the output parts, LDMOSFET and BJT, on a SOI substrate. The fabrication of this input part shared the same output LDMOSFET fabrication processs, except the additional deposition of Silicon nitride($Si_3N_4$) for the photo-detection part. According to LED illumination intensites and photo detecting areas, we could obtain voltage of 0.49V ${\~}$0.52V and current of 5.5uA ${\~}$ 108uA respectively from the fabricated unit photodiode. The maximum value of the voltage and the current we could obtain from the photodiode array were 3.58V and 24.4uA respectively, and the voltage was enough to operate the output LDMOSFET

A Multi-photodiode Array-based Retinal Implant IC with On/off Stimulation Strategy to Improve Spatial Resolution

  • We propose a novel multi-photodiode array (MPDA) based retinal implant IC with on/off stimulation strategy for a visual prosthesis with improved spatial resolution. An active pixel sensor combined with a comparator enables generation of biphasic current pulses when light intensity meets a threshold condition. The threshold is tuned by changing the discharging time of the active pixel sensor for various light intensity environments. A prototype of the 30-channel retinal implant IC was fabricated with a unit pixel area of $0.021mm^2$, and the stimulus level up to $354{\mu}A$ was measured with the threshold ranging from 400 lx to 13120 lx.

HPLC를 이용한 타르색소의 분리정량 (Determination of Synthetic Food Colours by HPLC with Photodiode Array Detector)

  • 기존의 PC나 TLC에 의한 타르색소의 정성은 많은 시간이 소요되고 회수율이 낮아 혼합색소의 경우 주 색소만이 검출되는 단점이 있고, 많은 표준용액이 동시에 전개되어질 수 없다는 단점이 있어 분 실험에서는 Polyamide와 Photodiode array 검출기가 장착된 HPLC를 이용하여 타르색소의 추출, 정제 및 정량을 여러 각도로 검토하여 정량분석의 최적 조건을 확립하였다. 검출 파장은 각 타르색소마다 고유의 최대흡수부가 있으나 동시분석을 위해서는 254 nm의 파장에서 가장 광범위한 타르색소의 검출이 가능하였으며 적색 계통은 $520{\sim}540\;nm$, 청색이나 녹색계통은 620 nm에서 최소검출한계가 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 타르색소의 분석에는 photodiode array detector가 장착된 HPLC를 이용함으로써 220 nm에서 800 nm까지의 넓은 영역의 파장에 걸쳐 일시에 분석하므로서 시간 절약과 함께 타르색소 피크마다 3차원 스펙트럼을 제공함으로서 실험의 정확도를 높일 수 있었다. 한편 Polyamide column을 사용하였을 때의 회수율을 측정한 결과 청색 1호가 가장 낮은 94.4%를 보였으며, 전체적으로 100% 부근의 아주 높은 만족할만한 회수율을 얻었다. 타르색소를 사용한 국내산 빙과류, 캔디류, 청량음료류를 시료로 하여 타르색소의 정량을 시도한 결과 허용의 타르색소는 검출되지 않았으며, 주로 적색 계통의 적색 2호와 40호가, 황색계통의 황색 4호, 5호가 많이 사용되고 있음을 알 수 있었고 타르색소의 사용량도 200 ppm을 초과하는 것은 발견되지 않았다. 한편 녹색은 황색 4호에 청색 1호를, 보라색은 적색과 청색을 혼합한 혼합색소를 사용되어지고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

A Pseudo Multiple Capture CMOS Image Sensor with RWB Color Filter Array

  • A color filter array (CFA) helps a single electrical image sensor to recognize color images. The Red-Green-Blue (RGB) Bayer CFA is commonly used, but the amount of the light which arrives at the photodiode is attenuated with this CFA. Red-White-Blue (RWB) CFA increases the amount of the light which arrives at photodiode by using White (W) pixels instead of Green (G) pixels. However, white pixels are saturated earlier than red and blue pixels. The pseudo multiple capture scheme and the corresponding RWB CFA were proposed to overcome the early saturation problem of W pixels. The prototype CMOS image sensor (CIS) was fabricated with $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The proposed CIS solves the early saturation problem of W pixels and increases the dynamic range.

라이다 시스템용 멀티채널 CMOS 피드포워드 트랜스임피던스 증폭기 어레이 (A Multi-channel CMOS Feedforward Transimpedance Amplifier Array for LADAR Systems)

  • A multi-channel CMOS transimpedance amplifier(TIA) array is realized in a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology for the applications of panoramic scan LADAR systems. Each channel consists of a PIN photodiode and a feed-forward TIA that exploits an inverter input stage followed by a feed-forward common-source amplifier so as to achieve lower noise and higher gain than a conventional voltage-mode inverter TIA. Measured results demonstrate that each channel achieves $76-dB{\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 720-MHz bandwidth, and -20.5-dBm sensitivity for $10^{-9}$ BER. Also, a single channel dissipates the power dissipation of 30 mW from a single 1.8-V supply, and shows less than -33-dB crosstalk between adjacent channels.
