  • Influences on organ function were studied in animals during prolonged extracorporeal circulation with a bubble type of oxygenator. More than six hours of total cardiopulmonary bypass was performed under mild hypothermia by means of an extracorporeal circulation system in five dogs. Obtained results were summarized as follows. 1. The renal function was not so impaired seriously until four hours of extracorporeal circulation. However, there was more serious impairment of renal function in this study when extracorporeal circulation was carried out for a period of five hours or more. 2. There was gradual hepatic damage during extracorporeal circulation and the damage was more significant after bypass for a period of five to six hours. 3. There was a significant decrease in serum K during bypass, irrespective of the pump oxygenator prime with a high K solution. The reason for this is complex and due to many factors, however, it was evidently related to serum glucose levels during extracorporal circulation.

  • This paper develops the optimal periodic preventive maintenance policies following the expiration of warranty: renewing warranty and non-renewing warranty. After the warranty period is expired, the system undergoes the PM periodically and is minimally repaired at each failure between two successive PMs. Firstly, we determine the expected cost rate per unit time and the expected downtime per unit time for the periodic PM model. Then the overall value function suggested by Jiang and Ji(2002) is applied to obtain the optimal PM period and the optimal PM number. Finally, the numerical examples are presented for illustrative purpose.

  • The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of Aqua-Acupuncture of Yukmijiwangtang(六味地黃湯) and Palmijihwang-tang(八味地黃湯) water extracts applied at the meridian points BL 23(賢兪) and GV 4(命門) to test the renal function in normal rats. The results obtained were as follows; 1. Among the effects of Aqua-Acupuncture of Yukmijihwangtang water extract at the merdian point BL 23 group, there were significant changes in water balance and urine volume over a 1 week period; Both decreasing and decreasing trends were exihibited. Urinary excretion of sodium and free water clearance changed significantly over a 2 week period; Both decreasing and increasing trends were exihibited, Urinary excretion of potassium, chloride and creatinine, plasma renin activity, plasma levels of aldosterone and atrial natriuretic peptide showed no significant differences compared to the contral group. 2. Among the effects of Aqua-Acupuncture of Palmljihwangtang water extract at the merdian point BL 23 group, there were significant changes in water balance and free water clearance over a 2 week period; a decreasing trend. Urinary excretion of creatinine changed significantly over a 2 week period; an increasing trend. Urinary excretion of chloride changed significantly over 1 week period; an increasing trend. The plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide changed significantly over 1 and 2 week period; an increasing trend. Urine volume, urinary excretion of sodium and pottasium, plasma renin activity and plasma level of aldosterone showed no significant differences compared to the control group. 3. Among the effects of Aqua-Acupuncture of Yukmijihwangtang water extract at the meridian point GV 4 group, there was significant decrease in water balance over a 2 week period; there was significant decrease in urine volwne and urinary excretion of sodium and creatinine over a 1 week period, followed by an increasing trend after 2 weeks. Urinary excretion of free water clearance demonstrated significant changes over both 1 and 2 week period; both increasing and decreasing trends were exihibited. Urinary excretion of chloride and plasma levels of aldosterone increased significantly over 1 and 2 week period. Plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide also decreased significantly. Plasma renin activity showed no significant differences compared to the control group. 4. Among the effects of Aqua-Acupuncture of Palmijihwangtang water extract at the meridian point GV 4 group, water balance and urinary excretion of chloride, plasma levels of aldosterone decreased significantly over both 1 and 2 week period. Urine volume and urinary excretion of pottasium decreased significantly. Urinary excretion of creatinine and urinary excretion of sodium changed significantly over both 1 and 2 week period. Urinary excretion of free water clearance, plasma renin activity and plasma level of atrial natriuretic peptide showed no significant differences compared to the control group. Seeing these results, I come to know that the effects Aqua-Acupuncture of Yukmijihwangtang and Palmijihwangtang water extracts at the meridian point BL 23 and GV 4 have affected the renal function differently. Seeing the results that BL 23 is a meridian point for Aqua-Acupuncture directly related to the kidney, I think, we can use Aqua-Acupuncture of Yuk-mijihwangtang and Palmijihwangtang water extracts to prevent and to treat the diseases related to kidney.

  • Abstract. In this paper, for $a{\in}C$, we investigate functions $g_a$ and ${\psi}_a$ associated with three term relations. $g_a$ is defined by means of function ${\psi}_a$. By using these functions, we obtain some functional equations related to the Eisenstein series and the Riemann zeta function. Also we find a generalized difference formula of function $g_a$.

  • Purpose : We described how the training of non-dominant hand that applicates the activity effects on dominant hand. Method : From November 6th to December 2nd 2013, We randomly selected 18 people that don't have a damage of hand function and are in college of K in Busan. (cross stitch training group 9 people, control group 9 people) All participants agreed on the research after fully being aware of training procedures and spontaneously conducted. Each training was practiced for 40 minutes in once every second day. One researcher deals with three participants at silent environment. We used the study measurement, Purdue pegboard, to investigate the sharpness of hand. To investigate the advancement of hand function caused by cross stitch training, we practiced three times estimations of primary one before training, middle one after 2 weeks training, last one after four weeks training and obtained the following results. Result : First of all, We found that the group of hand training appeared to be advanced of dominant hand's sharpness depending on the training period more than the control group. Second, We found that the group of hand training appeared to be advanced of non-dominant hand's sharpness depending on the training period more than the control group. Third, We found that the group of hand training appeared to be advanced of both hand's sharpness depending on the training period more than the control group. Fourth, We found that the group of hand training appeared to be advanced of the assembling function sharpness depending on the training period more than the control group. Conclusion : Put the results of this research together, we found that non-dominant hand training that used the activity was of help to advance the function of dominant hand. So, we thinks that hand training might help the recovery of affected hand function to the person that have a problem of hand function like hemiplegia patient. It will be required to practice the further study targeting the person that have a problem of hand function like hemiplegia patient. We hope that this research will be apply to clinical occupational therapy.

  • In this study, Schizandriae fructus which has been used in oriental medicine and folks remedy, was studied to apply to functional foods and oriental medicinal cuisine. The aim of this experiments was to investigate the effects of Schizandriae fructus water extract(SFE) on the renal function, plasma renin activity, plasma levels of aldosterone and arterial natriuretic peptide(ANP) in rats. Spargue-Dawley rats weigh 200g, were randomly assigned to 3 groups such as basal diet only(BDG), basal diet with $0.5{\mu}L/g$ SFE(LAG) and basal diet with $1.0{\mu}L/g$ SFE(HAG). The results were as follows. Water balance decreased significantly after administration for 2 weeks compared with the control period in HAG. Urine volume increased significantly after administration for 1 week compared with the control period in LAG and HAG. Urinary excretion of sodium increased significantly after administration for 1 week and for 2 weeks compared with the control period in LAG and HAG. Urinary excretion of creatinine increased significantly after administration for 2 weeks compared with the control period in HAG. Plama levels of ANL decreased significantly after administration of $SFE(0.5{\mu}L/g)$. Plasma levels of aldosterone decreased significantly after administration of $SFE(1.0{\mu}L/g)$. There results indicated that Schizandriae fructus can improve the renal function through increased urine volume and sodium excretion. These results imply that SFE could be used as a potent food resource for diet therapy or clinical nutrition.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to discover which breathing technique is more effective in improving respiratory function by applying different breathing techniques-the chest expansion respiratory technique and the abdominal expansion respiratory technique-to adults in the same aerobic exercise situation. Methods : In this study, 30 people were randomly assigned to two groups: chest expansion respiratory technique with aerobic exercise (A group) and abdominal expansion respiratory technique with aerobic exercise (B group). Group A was asked to breathe after wrapping their rib cage with an elastic band, and Group B was asked to breathe after wrapping their abdomen with an elastic band. A total of 3 sets of 30 breaths were performed, 3 times a week for 6 weeks. For statistical processing, an independent t-test was used to verify homogeneity between the two groups, and a repeated measure analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare differences according to the period for each group. Results : The changes in FVC and FEV1 for each group following 6 weeks of intervention are as follows. In comparison according to the intervention period, there was a significant increase in all groups depending on the timing of measurement (p<.05), and as a result of the inter-subject effect test, there was no significant difference between groups (p>.05). In addition, there was no interaction effect between period and group (p>.05). Conclusion : The conclusion of this study is that FVC and FEV1 values increased according to the intervention period in both groups; therefore, it can be suggested that flexible breathing techniques can be applied depending on the patient's physical situation when applying a breathing program to improve respiratory function.

  • A steady-state controllable M/G/1 queueing model operating under the {T:Min(T,N)} policy is considered where the {T:Min(T,N)} policy is defined as the next busy period will be initiated either after T time units elapsed from the end of the previous busy period if at least one customer arrives at the system during that time period, or after T time units elapsed without a customer' arrival, the time instant when Nth customer arrives at the system or T time units elapsed with at least one customer arrives at the system whichever comes first. After deriving the necessary system characteristics including the expected number of customers in the system, the expected length of busy period and so on, the total expected cost function per unit time for the system operation is constructed to determine the optimal operating policy. To do so, the cost elements associated with such system characteristics including the customers' waiting cost in the system and the server's removal and activating cost are defined. Then, procedures to determine the optimal values of the decision variables included in the operating policy are provided based on minimizing the total expected cost function per unit time to operate the queueing system under considerations.
