  • This study aims at examining the making and distribution course of performing arts and its converged form with technology and industry in terms of the Contents Promotion Act. Since the 2000s, the inter-area contents making and sharing methods have been changing the making and distribution structure of performing arts. The recent production of performing arts contents live videos extends the areas of arts creation and communication beyond the time and spatial boundaries of performing arts and changes the existing systems. The performing arts which started with nowness and spatio-temporal restriction on the premise is now creating a new platform over the spatio-temporal boundary through the live video. Performing arts, in convergence with the areas of technology and industries, expands universal approaches and shows the public value of cultural fairness at public performing arts centers. In this context, this study aims at seeking the possible extension of performing arts contents by examining how the so-called high-class performing arts such as opera, theatre and classical music combines with the visual industry.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes and performing confidence, and factors influencing patient safety of dental hygiene students. The questionnaire contained items on the subjects' general characteristics, attitudes, and performing confidence in relation to patient safety. The self-reported questionnaire was administered to 287 dental hygiene students in Gwangju and Jeonnam, Korea from September to November 2017. We performed an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS ver. 21.0 software. As a result of differences in attitude, and performing confidence according to the general characteristics, attitude toward patient safety scored 3.48 out of 5 points, and was more positive in students from 4-year colleges, with high major satisfaction, and in students who answered that they needed patient safety education. Performing confidence for patient safety scored 3.57 out of 5 points, and was statistically significantly higher in 4-year college students, with higher major satisfaction, amongst those with experience in patient safety education, and when patient safety education was needed before clinical practice or employment. There were positive correlations between attitude and performing confidence for patient safety. As a result of analyzing the factors influencing attitude and performing confidence for patient safety, attitudes were higher with higher performing confidence and performing confidence had the highest satisfaction rate of the major and patient safety education experience. Therefore, it is necessary to provide systematic education at universities reflecting the characteristics of dental medical institutions, as well as developing various education contents and education methods.

  • In general, performing facilities consist of various functional groupings. The functional groupings should be arranged, in relation to each other, depending on the circulation of users in a space. The performing culture in Korea has been rapidly progressed in recent years. However, compared to the superior examples of foreign performing facilities, it still needs improvements and systematic research. In this study, the functional groupings of general performing facilities as well as the circulation patterns of users will be analyzed. From the results of this study, a circulation system for each spatial composition will be suggested for the performing facilities to be constructed in the future.

  • In recent years, the cultural industry is considered to a major industry in the 21 century, and performing culture is growing rapidly in Korea. Also, rapid development in terms of quality and quantity can be found in the diversification of usage, a trend focusing on the space for performance, and an emphasis on the accessibility between the stage and auditorium. In addition, active research is being conducted on the performing arts facilities, a relationship between the stage and auditorium, and a space programfor each space considering users. However, most of the current studies are conducted byviewing the facilities in a two-dimensional space. Similar to other cultural facilities, such as museums and galleries, performing arts facilities have been planned in the thinking that the ratio of capacity increases in proportion to the area. Considering a dimensional capacity in the spatial composition of performing arts facilities is important, but it has been ignored until now. Therefore, in order to analyze performing arts facilities in the three dimensional approach, this study is conducted centering on the actual capacity and provides basic data that can be used for planning a construction of future performing arts facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the locational characteristics of performing art industries and to investigate the linkages with local economy. For the purpose, we examine the spatial concentration of cultural and artistic resources in Korea first, and than focus on Seoul where the resources of performing art industries are concentrated to the utmost. To distinguish the distribution aspect and locational characteristics of performing art industries, we apply the Kernel density analysis and LISA (Local Indicator of Spatial Association) on the address data of performing art theater, gallery, and movie theater. In contrast to galleries and movie theaters. the spatial distribution pattern of performing art theaters reveals a unique local cluster centered on the Daehakro area. We confirm that the Daehakro area constitutes a performing art industry cluster in their dense distribution of various related activities making up the value chain of the performing art industry. Multiple regression analysis probes the related economic activities to explain the distribution of performing art theaters as well as the linkages with the local economic landscape.
