  • Indium oxide ($In_2O_3$) nanorods (NRs) which can be expected to increase the device performance in various electronic and electrochemical applications were prepared on carbon fibers via an electrochemical deposition (ED) method. During the ED, the indium hydroxide ($In(OH)_3$) NRs were well grown and firmly attached onto the carbon fibers. After that, they were changed into $In_2O_3$ by dehydration through a thermal annealing. The morphological and structural properties were investigated using field-emission scanning electron microscope images. The crystallinity of as-prepared sample was evaluated by X-ray diffraction. The Fourier transform infrared results confirm that the functional groups are present in the $In_2O_3$ NRs. This facile process of metal oxide nanostructures on carbon fiber can be utilized for flexible electronic and energy related applications.

  • Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI) is a hybrid separation process of electrodialysis and ion exchange to produce high purity water under electric field. CEDI system is generally explained with two regimes, ionic removal and electroregeneration. The performance optimization and modification of stack configuration is required for the effective utilization and various applications of a CEDI system. Understanding on various system characterization method and ion transport equation is thus necessary to utilize the CEDI system more effectively. This article provides a general review of continuous electrodeionization, including the basic principles and current stage of technologies of a CEDI system.

  • In this study, radiation sensor tips are fabricated for remote sensing of X or gamma ray with inorganic scintillators and plastic optical fiber. The visible range of light from the inorganic scintillator that is generated by radiation source is guided by the plastic optical fiber and is measured by optical detector and power-meter. Two kinds of sensor tips are designed and fabricated such as film type and powder type. Many kinds of inorganic scintillators are used to fabricate both sensor tips, and the different wavelength of emitting lights from them are measured to determine the optimal inorganic scintillator which has maximum light output. As a radiation source X-ray generator and Ir-192 are selected to test a performance of sensor tip. It is expected that the fiber-optic radiation sensor is widely used in nuclear industry and medical applications due to its special characteristics such as good flexibility, easy in processing, long lengths and no interference to electro magnetic field.

  • $Ni-Si_3N_4$ nano-composite coatings were prepared by pulse current (PC) electrodeposition and direct current (DC) electrodeposition techniques. The micro-structure of the coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vickers microhardness, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and wear-friction tests. The results showed that the micro-structure and wear performance of the coatings were affected by the electrodeposition techniques. Pulse current electrodeposited $Ni-Si_3N_4$ composite coatings exhibited higher microhardness, smooth surface, and better wear resistance properties as compared to coatings prepared under DC condition. The $Ni-Si_3N_4$ composite coatings prepared at 50 Hz pulse frequency with 10% duty cycles has shown higher codeposition of nano-particles. Consequently, increased microhardness and less plastic deformations occurred in coatings during sliding wear test. The XRD patterns revealed that the increased pulse frequencies changed the preferred (100) nickel crystallite orientations into mixed (111) and (100) orientations.

  • Primary emphasis was placed on the electrophoretic deposition of low voltage phosphor to indium-tin oxide-coated glass for the application of field emission display. The phosphor deposited by various parameters, such as deposition time and applied voltages was examined in detail. In addition, a comparison was made by analyzing luminance properties of the phosphor mixed with and without conducting $In_2O_3$ powder of less than 1um size. The measurement was performed as a function of $In_2O_3$ concentration from 3% to 15% by weight. The enhanced impact of indium powder mixing on the phosphor was clearly demonstrated by aging performance curve at 1000V excitation voltages with a current density of $1\;mA/cm^2$

  • Increasing global energy demand has resulted in an energy crisis. The dye sensitizer solar cell (DSSC) is an alternative source because of its ability to convert the sun's energy into electrical energy. Our aim was to determine the effect of synthesized Ni(II)-Chlorophyll for enhancing the efficiency of solar cells based DSSC. Complex compound Ni(II)-Chlorophyll was successfully synthesized as a dye sensitizer of $Ni(NO_3)_2.6H_2O$ and chlorophyll ligand with saponification method. Characterization results with spectrophotometer UV-Vis showed that the complex compounds of Ni(II)-Chlorophyll have a maximum wavelength of 295.00 nm, 451.00 and 665.00 nm. The bond between the ligand and metal appears in the vibration Ni-O at wave number $455.2cm^{-1}$. Complex compoun Ni(II)-Chlorophyll has a magnetic moment 7.10 Bohr Magneton (BM). The performance of complex compound Ni(II)-Chlorophyll as a dye sensitizer shows the value of short-circuit current (Jsc) at $3.00mA/cm^2$, open circuit voltage (Voc) at 0.15 V and the efficiency (${\eta}$) 0.20%.

  • ZnS and $ZnS/TiO_2$ were prepared by chemical deposition. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The generation of reactive oxygen species was detected by monitoring the oxidation reaction from 1,5-diphenyl carbazide (DPCI) to 1,5-diphenyl carbazone (DPCO). Excellent catalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution was observed using the $ZnS/TiO_2$ composites during irradiation with visible light. The results show that the photocatalytic performance of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles is improved by loading with ZnS.

  • NiO is commonly used as the cathode for the molten carbonate fuel cell due to its stability and high electrical conductivity in molten carbonates and oxygen atmosphere. However, long-term operation of MCFC has a serious problem which is the degradation of cathode material, the so-called Ni dissolution. In the present study, we have attempted to synthesize a new alternative cathode material as Co/Nb-coated NiO cathode. The results obtained in this study suggest that the Co/Nb-coated NiO cathode can be utilized as having lower dissolution and higher cell performance than those of the pure NiO cathode.
