  • According to the remarkable advances in sonar technology, positioning capabilities and computer processing power we can accurately image and explore the seafloor in hydrography. Especially, Multibeam Echo Sounder can provide nearly perfect coverage of the seafloor with high resolution. Since the mid-1990's, Multibeam Echo Sounders have been used for hydrographic surveying in Korea. In this study, new marine data set as an effective decision-making tool in various fields was proposed by visualizing and combining with Multibeam sonar data and marine spatial data sets such as satellite image and digital nautical chart. The proposed method was tested around the port of PyeongTaek-DangJin in the west coast of Korea. The Visualization and fusion methods are described with various marine data sets with processing. We demonstrated that new data set in marine GIS is useful in safe navigation and port management as an efficient decision-making tool.

  • Let G be a finite group and N be a normal subgroup of G. We denote by ncc(N) the number of conjugacy classes of N in G and N is called n-decomposable, if ncc(N) = n. Set $K_{G}\;=\;\{ncc(N)$\mid$N{\lhd}G\}$. Let X be a non-empty subset of positive integers. A group G is called X-decomposable, if KG = X. In this paper we characterise the {1, 3, 4}-decomposable finite non-perfect groups. We prove that such a group is isomorphic to Small Group (36, 9), the $9^{th}$ group of order 36 in the small group library of GAP, a metabelian group of order $2^n{2{\frac{n-1}{2}}\;-\;1)$, in which n is odd positive integer and $2{\frac{n-1}{2}}\;-\;1$ is a Mersenne prime or a metabelian group of order $2^n(2{\frac{n}{3}}\;-\;1)$, where 3$\mid$n and $2\frac{n}{3}\;-\;1$ is a Mersenne prime. Moreover, we calculate the set $K_{G}$, for some finite group G.

  • In this paper, new algorithm which calculates transmission coefficient of electromagnetic wave by numerical analysis of scattered field by conductors with arbitrary cross-sections in parallel-plate waveguide is proposed. Proposed algorithm assumes magnetic current distribution on the boundary of scattering conductors, and applies Image theorem to perfect conductor surfaces of parallel-plate waveguide. Integral equations for fictitious magnetic currents on conducting boundary are set up. Magnetic current distributions on conducting boundary are expanded as exponential basis function, and using Galerkin method matrix equations are set wp. To compute matrix elements this method utilizes Fourier transform which is faster than numerical integration. Finally, frequency and incidence-angle characteristic of transmission coefficient are calculated and compared with experimental results.

  • Many heuristic attribute reduction algorithms have been proposed to find a single reduct that functions as the entire set of original attributes without loss of classification capability; however, the proposed reducts are not always perfect for these multiclass datasets. In this study, based on a probabilistic rough set model, we propose the class-oriented attribute reduction (COAR) algorithm, which separately finds a reduct for each target class. Thus, there is a strong dependence between a reduct and its target class. Consequently, we propose a type of ensemble constructed on a group of classifiers based on class-oriented reducts with a customized weighted majority voting strategy. We evaluated the performance of our proposed algorithm based on five real multiclass datasets. Experimental results confirm the superiority of the proposed method in terms of four general evaluation metrics.

  • Zero-difference balanced (ZDB) functions can be applied to many areas like optimal constant composition codes, optimal frequency hopping sequences etc. Moreover, it has been shown that the image set of some ZDB functions is a regular partial difference set, and hence provides strongly regular graphs. Besides, perfect nonlinear functions are zero-difference balanced functions. However, the converse is not true in general. In this paper, we use the decomposition of cyclotomic polynomials into irreducible factors over 𝔽p, where p is an odd prime to generalize some recent results on ZDB functions. Also we extend a result introduced by Claude et al. [3] regarding zero-difference-p-balanced functions over 𝔽pn. Eventually, we use these results to construct some optimal constant composition codes.

  • Purpose: The aim is to study the dependence of deformable based auto-segmentation of head and neck organs-at-risks (OAR) on anatomy matching for a single atlas based system and generate an acceptable set of contours. Methods: A sample of ten patients in neutral neck position and three atlas sets consisting of ten patients each in different head and neck positions were utilized to generate three scenarios representing poor, average and perfect anatomy matching respectively and auto-segmentation was carried out for each scenario. Brainstem, larynx, mandible, cervical oesophagus, oral cavity, pharyngeal muscles, parotids, spinal cord, and trachea were the structures selected for the study. Automatic and oncologist reference contours were compared using the dice similarity index (DSI), Hausdroff distance and variation in the centre of mass (COM). Results: The mean DSI scores for brainstem was good irrespective of the anatomy matching scenarios. The scores for mandible, oral cavity, larynx, parotids, spinal cord, and trachea were unacceptable with poor matching but improved with enhanced bony matching whereas cervical oesophagus and pharyngeal muscles had less than acceptable scores for even perfect matching scenario. HD value and variation in COM decreased with better matching for all the structures. Conclusion: Improved anatomy matching resulted in better segmentation. At least a similar setup can help generate an acceptable set of automatic contours in systems employing single atlas method. Automatic contours from average matching scenario were acceptable for most structures. Importance should be given to head and neck position during atlas generation for a single atlas based system.

  • To set the similarity conditions between a prototype usually in the field and its reduced-scale model is a crucial part in model tests. No technique is available to keep perfect similarity for this procedure so far. The experimental work using a wind tunnel is not exceptional. based on the field measurements, the effect of stack parameters and wind conditions on the dispersion of stack plume has been investigated in the laboratory. in this paper intensive methodology is focused on matching these similarities. Due to the limitations to keep perfect similarity conditions some simplifications are involved in common. In this study geometric conditions and kinematic conditions using Froude number and Reynolds number have been con-sidered to keep the similarity conditions required. From the tests it is found that the critical Reynolds number (Recrit) is 2,700 when the height of stack discharge is 50mm. The dispersion has a similar trend for the higher Reynolds number than the critical Reynolds number. It is also found that different Froude number does not make any significant influence for the normalized tracer gas concentrations at the recipient providing the same ratio of the wind speed to the discharge speed. No significant effect of stack diameter is observed in the normalized tracer gas concentrations with the same Frounde number. The similarity conditions therefore used in this study are reliable to simulate the conditions in prototype into the wind tunnel tests.

  • A novel algorithm for joint user selection and optimal power allocation for Stackelberg game-based revenue maximization in a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) network is proposed in this study. The condition for the existence of optimal solution is derived by assuming perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. The Lagrange multiplier method is used to convert the revenue maximization problem into a set of quadratic equations that are reduced to a regular chain of expressions. The optimal solution is obtained via a univariate iterative procedure. A simple algorithm for joint optimal user selection and power calculation is presented and exhibits extremely low complexity. Furthermore, an outage analysis is presented to evaluate the performance degradation when perfect CSI is not available. The simulation results indicate that at 5-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), revenue of the base station improves by at least 15.2% for the proposed algorithm when compared to suboptimal schemes. Other performance metrics of NOMA, such as individual user-rates, fairness index, and outage probability, approach near-optimal values at moderate to high SNRs.

  • This research examined the alternatives of Jensen's alpha (α) estimation models in the Capital Asset Pricing Model, discussed by Treynor (1961), Sharpe (1964), and Lintner (1965), using the robust maximum likelihood type m-estimator (MM estimator) and Bayes estimator with conjugate prior. According to finance literature and practices, alpha has often been estimated using ordinary least square (OLS) regression method and monthly return data set. A sample of 50 securities is randomly selected from the list of the S&P 500 index. Their daily and monthly returns were collected over a period of the last five years. This research showed that the robust MM estimator performed well better than the OLS and Bayes estimators in terms of efficiency. The Bayes estimator did not perform better than the OLS estimator as expected. Interestingly, we also found that daily return data set would give more accurate alpha estimation than monthly return data set in all three MM, OLS, and Bayes estimators. We also proposed an alternative market efficiency test with the hypothesis testing Ho: α = 0 and was able to prove the S&P 500 index is efficient, but not perfect. More important, those findings above are checked with and validated by Jackknife resampling results.
