  • The UNESCO`s earth science division has developed the geoparks program to recognize earth scientific heritage sites worldwide. To respond to this movement, I suggest Byeonsanbando National Park (BNP) as the first geopark in Korea and provide, at the same time, a line of evidence supporting the designation of geopark. BNP has the best qualifications with geological, geomorphological, ecological, and cultural resources. In Chaeseokgang and Jeokbyukgang, there are many geological and geomorphological resources attracting the scientific importance. In addition, BNP has a total of 844 species of wild plants and 550 species of wild animals. Cultural properties abound in BNP, including Koryo bronze bell of Naesosa and Taeungjon hall of Kaeamsa. To be designated a geopark by UNESCO, a management plan of geotourism will be required in addition to the geological, geomorphological, ecological and cultural resources, which should be prepared by the Korea National Parks Service and related local government authority. If the above-mentioned conditions are met completely, Korea would enter the global network of geoparks for the first time.

  • To achieve zero-emission, one of the main goals of an eco-industrial park (EIP), it is needed to develop an effective water exchange network. The network includes various subsystems and decision making processes, which make the modeling process extremely complicated. Agent-based modeling was used to simulate water exchange network in an EIP. Firm agents were created based on the behavior pattern of firms, and an agent-based model (ABM) was made with the agents, showing the growth of the exchange network. An existing steel and iron making industrial park was chosen as a case study, and the ABM model shows eco-efficient behavior with a decreased environmental cost. Water reuse network based on the ABM model results in 35% decrease of the fresh water supply and 50% reduction of the wastewater generation in EIP. A case study shows that agent-based model can be a powerful tool in modeling and designing complex eco-industrial parks, especially when a part of the system needs to be changed.

  • Ubiquitous computing and mobile technologies provide much scope for designing innovative learning experiences that can take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, such as botanical gardens, parks, museums and classrooms. In this paper, we present our own innovative work for bridging indoor and outdoor field-trip learning activities with the support of RFID with reader device on ubiquitous environments. The function of our system is based on strategically located RFID tags placed on objects around settings which are identified using the mobile device installed to an RFID reader. The mobile device reads the RFID tag and sends the learner's request to the field-trip learning system. And learners can be learning activities according to theirs learning levels. We also focus on the use of intelligent agents to customize learning contents for individual learners. The result of our experiment indicates that learner enjoyed learning where mobile devices are used in the system, supporting the learning activities in the context of which they are taking place.

  • This study intends to analyze the structural relationships among the servicescape of theme park, the affective image and the place dependence of visitors, one of the most important factors of place attachment. For this purpose, this study selects Lotte World in Seoul as a study site and conducts a questionnaire survey focused on visitors who visited the site previously. The results of an exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation method show that esthetics and amenity factors among servicescape of theme park affect the attractiveness and comfortableness of the affective image of visitors positively, and two factors of visitors' affective image also affect the their place dependence positively. Tourism planners or landscape designers can consider these useful servicescape elements of theme park as important planning and managing factors in order to improve the images of theme parks and the level of place attachment.

  • Due to the popularity of smart phones based on personal propensities and individual lifestyle changes customerized services is increasing interest in the individual. The system for personalized services make a difference in the public institutions, museum of science and history. In particular, museums and art galleries have a common motivation which is sightseeing. Museum for the history and science education a national purpose that is put, unlikely art gallery. Museum of science and History, unlike the theme parks have a combination of entertainment and education as a public institution is a large consensus. In order to achieve this objective, exhibits raise a sufficient commitment to and the exhibits should be described by age. Using augmented reality combined with effective entertainment and education measures, we propose the effective smart guide service strategies for museum.

  • To preserve atmospheric environment of urban areas, it needs to create urban space considering air pollution sources and natural and geographical properties such as wind circulation. According to this study could examine climate and environmental characteristics of Daegu and accordingly suggest a climate map in urban environment and an "advice map" in urban planning. The urban area(area paved with asphalt and concrete) of Daegu has increased by more than five times since 1960. In addition, the analysis of thermal environment through satellite data shows that the surface temperature between a place paved with artificial structures and a farmland shows $10{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ difference during the daytime in the summer. Regarding the parks inhibiting the heat island of a city have the small area of trees, and the road paved with concrete is wide so that they hardly serve as the source of heat absorption. As Apsan is located to the south of Daegu and Palgonsan to the north and Daegu has east high west low type, mountain wind from mountains in the south and north passes a city and delivers heat and air pollutions at night. In the west of Daegue, there is the poorest environment and industrial facilities and environmental basic facilities are mostly located, so large residential complexes that are being built around the industrial facilities as if they set up a folding screen and therefore the poor environment is increasingly worse.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze visitors' behavior in Hallyo-Haesang National Park, Korea. To accomplish the purpose, questionnaire survey, using self-developed questions, was employed from August 21 to 23 in 1998. 303 samples for the survey were selected in 4 different zones(Koje, Tongyong, Namhae, and Odongdo) within park boundary. As the results, socioeconomic characteristics, such as gender, education and income level, age, and others, were showed similar trends with results from visitor surveys in other national parks. Most respondents were pointed out unintentional violation due to habit as a major reason of littering. And, majority of respondents didn't know the Clean-up-Time Movement Program in this park. In addition, ecosystem condition, natural landscape, trash problem, safety, and kindness of park rangers were recognized as the major influencing factors that can affect to visitors' recreation experience in this park but existing conditions for each influencing factor were evaluated lower than level of their expectation. Overall level of recreation satisfaction in Hanryohaesang national park were, however, perceived in the affirmative.

  • Population characteristics of Zacco koreanus were investigated at 4 stations in three National Parks of Korea from April to October 2012. Total length ranged 47mm~160 mm and weight ranged 0.50~41.50 g. Parameter b values in length-weight relationships ranged 2.883~3.497, which represent favorable conditions for habitation. Condition factor (K) had the range from 0.689 to 1.012. In relationships with sympatric fishes, the length-weight relationship (b) revealed inverse proportion to the number of species and populations. It is suggested that these differences resulted from the various factors including sympatric fishes, water temperature, seasonal changes, and surveyed stations.
