The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate parental amounts of Internet use for purpose of rearing 2) to investigate their environment and preparation level to use Internet as educational information source 3) to investigate whether there are differences between Korean and U.S. parents in environment, level of preparation, and amounts of use of Internet for purposes of child rearing 4) to find out the factors of use of Internet for purposes of child rearing. The questionnaire used in this survey included five sections : background, environment, preparation, amount of total Internet use, and amount of Internet use for purposes of child rearing. Participants were 282 parents (128 American; 154 Korean) with at least one 3~ to 7-year-old child. Findings revealed that parents used the Internet frequently, but they did not frequently use the Internet for purposes of child rearing. There were differences between Korean and U.S. parents in environment, level of preparation, and amount of Internet use for purposes of child rearing. The main factor that affected use of the Internet for purposes of child rearing was 'trustworthiness of Internet information'. Finally, it was suggested the implications for better Internet use for purpose of rearing from the findings.
Most middle school and high school students learns under the same study plans and educational courses. Such an equal level education policies prevent the science-gifted from developing and promoting their ability. So it is severely necessary to sort out the gifted in science and make them develop their ability. In this paper, the attitudes of teachers and parents toward the science-gifted student in middle school were investigated as well as the characteristics of the gifted. One hundred science teachers of middle school who recommended the gifted in science and their parents in Seoul area were questionnaired. The follows are the consequences of investigation. 1. Most teachers and parents of the gifted considered that the school should do a special care for the gifted in science. That is, they prefer the enrichment course to the acceleration course for it. 2. The teachers play the role of motivating the study and promotion very well, but do not well as either the advisor or the cooperator with the parents because of their excessive work and lack of professional knowledgement about education of the gifted. 3. The parents play the role of the advisor or the counselor well, but do not well as the cooperator with school. 4. Among the characteristics of the gifted, there are not any differences between boys and girls in conduct characteristics. But there are meaningful difference in emotion characteristics. 5. The education of the gifted is very important for developing of country and personal promotion. So the administrative and financial support are necessary in order to sort out the gifted in science earlier and provide various programs.
The study examined the level of understanding and satisfaction of parents who should receive the food materials and monitor the food service, and would provided the basic data for more desirable school feeding system. The analysis was based on the participation level in materials receiving and food service monitoring, condition of equipment, knowledge about materials and the opinions about monitoring education. 160 monitors out of Daejeon primary schools were used and 60% of them were in the age of thirties and the others were in forties. Equipment condition for material receiving was good and most of the monitors were familiar with the ways of using the machines. Difficulties of material receiving were found in meat(65.6%) and sea food(21.9%), and the ratios of activities and the intention to participate in monitoring education were high with 25.0% and 72.5% respectively. Most of the monitors thought sanitary conditions of food materials(100.0%) and delivery persons(96.9%) were very good or good. And 90% of the respondents changed their perception of school food service positive after monitoring. In conclusion, most of the parents wanted to participate in the monitoring and material receiving actively and showed great willingness to receive monitoring education.
The present study surveyed both the parents of 130 children with psychopathology and the parents of 240 normal children. children were between 2 and 12 years of age. No differences were found between parents in self-differentiation or in family function by type of disorder. Parents of children with psychopathology were lower than parents of normal children in self-differentiation; this was particularly evident in cognitive function-emotional function, and emotional cut-off. Patents of children with psychopathology were lower than parents of normal children in terms of family function. Multiple regression analyses indicated that parent's self-differentiation, children's psychopathology, and parent's education level had a significant influence on family function. The regression model explained 52% of the variance.
The purpose of reasearch is to study the teenagers' attitude of supporting their to predict the changed pattern and the possible evolution of family relationship, provide schools and the society with meaningful information for education policy and to propose an appropriate life style for the eldery parents. As an investigative method, questionaies were used to 600 people including students in schools located in Suwon, Kyongki-Do. All the data were processed with the Satistical Analysis System (SAS). The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. Teenagers' living with their grandparents said that get much help from their grandparents 2. The teenagers' consciousness of supporting their parents when they grow old varied according to sex : i.e. male students said that children should bear the cost of supporting their old parents. 3. The more educated, the more accepting of their future life in the homes for the aged. 4. A low level of expectations for children's support in that many parents believed that the responsibility for support lies in the parents themselves.
The exploratory purpose of this study was to investigate the Honsu trend and to examine the relationships between the Honsu, marriage exchange resources and marital satisfaction from general group and also explore the differences in Honsu expenditure between the general group and the aimed group. the explanatory purpose of this study was to prove the social meaning of the Honsu as a 'productive exchange resources' using Emerson's exchange network theory. The data was collected from 800 men and women of general group and 72 men and women of aimed group within 5 years of marital duration through the questionnaire method. Major findings of the study from the general group were as follows : in general group 1. The bridegroom group expended more Honsu than bride group. Bridegroom's primary expenditure item was house expenditure, and bride's primary one was newlywed life goods. 2. The bridegroom's Honsu were influenced positively by parents'SES, bridegroom & bride's education level and bride's parents'SES. Bride's Honsu were influenced positively by parents' SES and bridegroom & bride's education level. 3. Bridegroom's marital satisfaction were influenced positively by bride's marriage need, bridegroom's marriage need, bride's physical attraction and bridegroom & bride's education level. Bride's marital satisfaction were influenced positively by bride's marriage need, bridegroom's physical attraction, bridegroom & bride's education level, bridegroom's marriage need, bridegroom's future possibilities and bridegroom's Honsu. 4. The social meaning of the Honsu was a 'productive exchange resource'. 1. The bridegrooms of aimed group expended more housing expenditure and also Honsu than the brides but there's no statistically significant differences in Honsu expenditure between the bridegrooms and the brides of aimed group. 2. The bridegrooms of aimed group expended about 3 times more money for wedding present for spouse and abut 1.2 times more for Honsu than the bridegrooms of general group. The bride of aimed group expended about 4.6 times more money for general group. the bride of aimed group expended abut 4.6 times more money about 4 times more for housing expenditure and about 3 times more for total Honsu than the brides of general group.
The purposes of this study are to classify housewives based on their perception of benefits sought of preschool child education commodity and to identify the characteristics of each type. For empirical analysis, the data for this study were collected from 400 full-time housewives with preschool child living in Seoul. The statistical methods adopted fur data analysis are cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test and discriminant analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows : First, four housewives' types can be categorized by the level of those 3 dimensions. The name fur the types was given as 'sticking to one's belief type', 'taking importance to early stimulation type' 'conforming to and imitating others type', and 'believing blindly in education commodity type'. Second, the result of discriminant analysis shows that 'housewives' education level and their education-related values' element was the most crucial in classifying the housewives, and 'considering child's characteristics and educational home environment' element was the next. The results of this study suggest several implications fur the education of parents with preschool child. Parents' education programs differentiated by the objects and the problems should be developed : which are suitable for each housewives' type.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge and attitude on tuberculosis by parents of North Korean refugees' children. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted. Data were collected from July to November, 2014 in Hanawon and 74 North Korean refugee parents participated in the study. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0. Results: The score for knowledge was 17.72 out of 30 points, for awareness in attitude, 49.34 out of 60 points and for prevention behavior in attitude, 48.39 out of 60 points. There were positive significant correlations among knowledge, attitude and health interest. There was also a significant positive correlation between awareness and prevention behavior in attitude, and between prevention behavior and health interest. Conclusion: North Korean refugee parents showed a low level of knowledge and a negative attitude. The implication of these results is an awareness of the need for education on the causes, transmission and importance of treatment for tuberculosis. This kind of education can guide North Korean refugee parents to obtain correct information and positive attitudes and therefore, be able to effectively practice appropriate health behaviors in tuberculosis management for their children.
This study investigated the effect of nutritional improvement of 1-5 year children participated in NutriPlus program. The program was carried out at Public health Center, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon from March 2009 to April 2011. The subjects were selected among applicants for low-income family financing of the government and included 90 children and their parents. they were divided into 2 groups (less than 6 months and more than 6 months of participation in the study). We analyzed the effects of NutriPlus program and nutrition education in both study groups. The results of this study were summarized as follows: The number of children with less than 10th percentile in height and weight and weight for height was decreased. The anemia prevalence rate was reduced from 64.4% to 8.9%. NAR value of subjects increased for energy, protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin C. The education program improved knowledge and attitude of the parents. In nutrition knowledge according to the income level, there were greater changes in the group of less than 100% compared to the subsistence. In nutrition attitude according to the education level, there were greater changes in the group of middle school graduates than in high school graduates or college graduates. There were no difference between less than 6 months group and more than 6 months group in improvement of hemoglobin level, anthropometric data and nutrients intakes. Based on these results, we conclude that providing supplementary food to children and nutrition education brought positive effects on growth of the children.
The aim of this study was to determine the extent to which sociodemographic and health related life-style variables explain body weight distribution and to understand weight contol behavior. To study this study 298 students were selected, it was consisted of obesity group(101) and control group(197). The average age of subjects was 14.2 and the prevalence of obesity was 2-3 per class as 5.6% among 1,793. 71% among same subject was showed higher weight pattern than last one year, ovesity group which was obesity both in 93 and 94 was 34%. Correlation between body weight(under weight/obesity) and independent variables including sociodemographic factor and health- related life style tested through Multiple Classification Analysis was very significant, explained 36% of the total variance. Sociodemografic and hereditary factors such as education level, age of father and physical features of parents, life style factors as exercise preference and perceived health status showed highly contribution to body weight. Concretely, there were showed a higher obesity prevalence tendency when education level and age of father was high, physical features of parents was obesity. In otherwise, there were showed a higher underweight prevalence tendency when education level and age of father was low. Experience rates of weight control was 53% generally, 84% in obesity group, and 11% in underweight group. There were utilized weight control behaviors through diet method mainly in obesity group, diet and exercise methods in underweight group. There were showed that underweight group are prefer exercise to obesity group. Conclusionally, These findings suggest that education, age, physical features of parents, exercise preference and perceived health status is important factors related to body weight among middle school girls. Therefore, there will be considered as valuable factors when we practice health education and consultation related to body weight. Furthermore it is necessary to provide of various informations about weight control and to develop systematic weight control program.
