The purpose of the study was to develop evaluation methods which would measure student achievement and progress without traditional paper-pencil tests such as mid-term and final examinations. More specifically, the main research focus were to establish general directions of student assessment during free semester, to build evaluation models supporting student's participation and learning, and to report and record various student evaluation results. As research results, we found that student evaluation of free semester should be organized to improve a) experience learning activity, self-regulatory and collaboratory study, b) high-order thinking ability and character-building, and c) teacher-student-parent cooperation. Since traditional paper-pencil tests were restricted in free semester, student achievement should be provided by a way of performance descriptions on transcripts rather than quantitative grade points. Student performance descriptions had to show not only subject knowledge but also students efforts, motivation, and participation. These multiple and educationally meaningful information would be collected by teacher-student-parent communication and collaboration.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate contraception knowledge and sexual behavior in female high school students. Methods: The participants were 382 female high school students from one academic and one vocational school. Data was collected from October to November, 2008 using self report questionnaire. Results: Knowledge on contraception was 5.52 in maximum 14 point scale. Major information source for sexual matters was peers such as friends or sisters. Perception on sexual behavior was different according to major information source. Fifty five percents of students thought that kiss can be permitted, and regarded sexual behavior as natural development. 3.4% of participants had experience of sexual intercourse. Conclusion: It is indicated that perception on sexual behavior can be shaped according to correct information and positive attitude on natural sexual development by health profession. Also, education on contraception would be included in sex education to reduce teenage pregnancy.

Method: A descriptive and correlative study has been conducted to report adolescents' test stress and coping style. Nine hundred fifty four high school students were participated in this study and collected data by visit-survey with an organized questionnaire. Results: The mean score of perceived test stress was 2.98. High school students were more frequently use the affective regulation coping style than problem focused coping style. The relationship between perceived test stress and affective regulation coping was statistically significant. Conclusion: Through this study, investigator found coping styles were important factors influencing test stress of high school students. This study also shows that a number of characteristics of the high school students significantly affect levels of test stress, the most notable of these factors being grade, sex, and academic performance. Therefore, consideration of test stress and coping style should be included in the development of a stress management program for high school students.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the factors predicting HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination practices among female college students. Methods: A convenience sample of 207 female students attending four universities in one metropolitan city participated. Self-report questionnaires consisted of general characteristics, characteristics related prevention of cervical cancer, knowledge of HPV, knowledge of cervical cancer vaccination, and health beliefs related to HPV vaccination. Data were analyzed by $x^2$ test, independent t-test, and bivariate logistic regression. Results: Factors predicting HPV vaccination practices were information about HPV (OR=3.37), experience of HPV test (OR=12.71), and health beliefs related to HPV vaccination (OR=1.13). Conclusion: In order to increase the practice rate of HPV vaccination, it is necessary to provide simple key information that is easy to understand, rather than expert knowledge about HPV. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a way for college students to get information about virus easily. It is necessary to intervene integrally with the facilitation factor and obstacle factor of vaccination practice.

Methods: The participants were 228 male students and 228 female students in two middle schools. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires, and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Results: Cell phone addictions of female students are higher than those of male students. Factors influencing cell phone addiction for male students were mimicry, sending text message on weekdays, immediate self-control, grade, syntony, and monthly call charge, explaining 42.2% of variance in cell phone addiction. Factors influencing cell phone addiction for female students were internet addiction, sending and receiving text message on weekends, immediate self-control, long-term self-control, use time, main use, syntony, and monthly call charge, explaining 46.8% of variance in cell phone addiction. Conclusion: The results indicated that cell phone addiction and its influencing factors differed by gender. Therefore the approach to effective cell phone addiction management program for middle school students should consider gender differences.

Traumatic internal carotid artery injuries can produce direct carotid-cavernous fistulas as well as giant internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysms. Clinical sequelae can include headaches, cranial nerves palsies, proptosis, chemosis and optic neuropathy with visual loss as the most dangerous complication. Herein, we present a case of one of the largest reported internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysms associated with a direct carotid cavernous fistula. We describe the techniques and pitfalls of treatment with parent vessel occlusion.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the quality of life (QoL) of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) before and during coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and to examine how their QoL is affected by emotional and environmental factors during COVID-19. Methods: Participants in the pre-COVID-19 (n=43) and COVID-19 (n=36) groups were recruited from the same university hospital. The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) 4.0 Child Self-report, the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS), the PedsQL 4.0 Parent Proxy Report, and the Conners' Parent Rating Scale (CPRS) were employed. Independent t-tests, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results: Caregivers assessed the children's QoL more negatively than the children themselves in both groups. Children with ADHD evaluated their physical function more negatively and anxiety was significantly higher in the COVID-19 group. In the COVID-19 group, the PedsQL child self-report was significantly predicted by the CPRS, the CDI, and environmental factors (i.e., relation to child and monthly household income). Conclusion: Children with ADHD in the COVID-19 group had a numerically lower QoL and significantly higher anxiety. To improve QoL, it is important to deal with not only depression but also ADHD symptoms and environmental factors.
Purpose: To provide basic data to improve the practice environment of pediatric nurses by identifying their recognition of nursing professionalism and self-efficacy, and to examine the pediatric nurse parent partnership. Methods: Participants in the study were 165 nurses with 6 months of work experience in a university children's hospital in Seoul. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Research tools measuring nursing professionalism, self-efficacy, and pediatric nurse parent partnership were used. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS PASW statistics 19.0. Results: There were statistically significant positive correlations for nursing professionalism and self-efficacy (r=.359, p<.001), nursing professionalism and the pediatric nurse parent partnership (r=.487, p<.001), and self-efficacy and the pediatric nurse parent partnership (r=.442, p<.001).According to the general characteristics of the participants, nurses who were married, practiced religion and had children tended to have higher nursing professionalism. Higher self-efficacy was exhibited by nurses who were older, married and raising children and the pediatric nurse parent partnership tended to have higher scores for nurses who practiced religion and worked in a general ward. Conclusion: The findings indicate that higher nursing professionalism and self-efficacy result in a better pediatric nurse parent partnership which should improve the practice environment of pediatric patients.
