This article aims to study the dynamical behaviours of a two species model in which non-selective harvesting of a prey-predator system by using a reasonable catch-rate function instead of usual catch-per-unit-effort hypothesis is used. A system of two ordinary differential equations(ODE's) has been proposed and analyzed with the predator functional response to prey density is considered as Hassell-Varley type functional responses to study the dynamics of the system. Positivity and boundedness of the system are studied. We have discussed the existence of different equilibrium points and stability of the system at these equilibrium points. We also analysed the system undergoes a Hopf-bifurcation around interior equilibrium point for a various parametric values which has very significant ecological impacts in this work. Computer simulation are carried out to validate our analytical findings. The biological implications of analytical and numerical findings are discussed critically.
This paper considers a delamination analysis of a statically undetermined inhomogeneous beam structure of rectangular section with viscoelastic behavior under torsion. The beam is built in at its two ends. The beam has two longitudinal inhomogeneous layers with a delamination crack between them. A notch is made in the upper crack arm. The external torsion moment applied on the beam is a function of time. Under these conditions, the beam has one degree of indeterminacy. In order to derive the strain energy release rate, first, the static indeterminacy is resolved. Then the strain energy release rate is obtained by analyzing the balance of the energy with considering the viscoelastic behavior. The strain energy release rate is found also by analyzing the compliance of the beam for checkup. Solution of the strain energy release rate in a beam without a notch in the upper crack arm is derived too. In this case, the beam has two degrees of static indeterminacy (the torsion moment in the upper crack arm is treated as an additional internal redundant unknown). A parametric investigation of the strain energy release rate is carried-out.

In a parametric sample selection model, the distribution assumption is critical to obtain consistent estimates. Conventionally, the normality assumption has been adopted for both error terms in selection and main equations of the model. The normality assumption, however, may excessively restrict the true underlying distribution of the model. This study introduces the $S_U$-normal distribution into the error distribution of a sample selection model. The $S_U$-normal distribution can accommodate a wide range of skewness and kurtosis compared to the normal distribution. It also includes the normal distribution as a limiting distribution. Moreover, the $S_U$-normal distribution can be easily extended to multivariate dimensions. We provide the log-likelihood function and expected value formula based on a bivariate $S_U$-normal distribution in a sample selection model. The results of simulations indicate the $S_U$-normal model outperforms the normal model for the consistency of estimators. As an empirical application, we provide the sample selection model for car ownership and a car expense relationship.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the therapeutic effects of an early exercise program after mastectomy and to provide the early exercise program protocol for patients who had undergone mastectomy. The subjects were seventy women who were diagnosed with breast cancer. They were randomly as signed either to a experimental group (n=35) that received early postoperative exercise program or to a control group (n=35) that received only education by nurses. Data were obtained for each patient from goniometric measurements of shoulder flexion, abduction, external rotation, 10 elements of functional performance, and subjective pain evaluation using visual analogue scale (VAS). All variables were measured preoperatively, three days postoperatively, and one month postoperatively. Data were compared by groups using independent t-test and Mann-Whitney U test for parametric or non-parametric data, respectively. There were no significant differences between the groups for all variables preoperatively and at three days postoperatively. But there were significant differences at one month postoperatively. The experimental group showed a statistically significant increases in shoulder flexion, abduction, and external rotation and in the pain VAS at one month postoperatively (p<.05). Also, at one month postoperatively, the experimental group had less difficulty with three elements of functional performance-doing up a 'back' zippered article of clothing, reaching the ipsilateral scapula, and contralateral scapula with the fingers on the operated side-than the control group (p<.05). The results of this study suggest that, after mastectomy, the early exercise program conducted by a well-trained physical therapist can make a significant contribution to the return of more normal shoulder function and activities of daily living and to an increased quality of life.
Triangular pyramid and Quadrangular pyramid elements for partial double-layer spherical reticulated shells of pyramidal system are investigated in the present study. Macro programs for six typical partial double-layer spherical reticulated shells of pyramidal system are compiled by using the ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL). Internal force analysis of six spherical reticulated shells is carried out. Distribution regularity of the stress and displacement are studied. A shape optimization program is proposed by adopting the sequence two-stage algorithm (RDQA) in FORTRAN environment based on the characteristics of partial double-layer spherical reticulated shells of pyramidal system and the ideas of discrete variable optimization design. Shape optimization is achieved by considering the objective function of the minimum total steel consumption, global and locality constraints. The shape optimization of six spherical reticulated shells is calculated with the span of 30m~120m and rise to span ratio of 1/7~1/3. The variations of the total steel consumption along with the span and rise to span ratio are discussed with contrast to the results of shape optimization. The optimal combination of main design parameters for six spherical reticulated shells is investigated, i.e., the number of the optimal grids. The results show that: (1) The Kiewitt and Geodesic partial double-layer spherical reticulated shells of triangular pyramidal system should be preferentially adopted in large and medium-span structures. The range of rise to span ratio is from 1/6 to 1/5. (2) The Ribbed and Schwedler partial double-layer spherical reticulated shells of quadrangular pyramidal system should be preferentially adopted in small-span structures. The rise to span ratio should be 1/4. (3) Grids of the six spherical reticulated shells can be optimized after shape optimization and the total steel consumption is optimized to be the least.

In the field of 'Human Vibration', it has been interested subjects to make equal sensation curves related to translational and rotational direction of whole-body, hand-transmitted and head-transmitted vibration, etc. When we consider the vibration of a vehicle, the main factor is vertical whole-body vibration. Until now, most of equal sensation curves used to derive frequency weighting function had been made using Western people. However, because of the inherent differences (for example, characteristic and shape of body parts, muscular and cellular tissue) between the Western people and the Oriental people, equal sensation curves based on Oriental people might be required. Also, the weight differences between the samples which consist of average-weighted and over-weighted group might cause the difference of equal sensation curves. So, in this study, 20 male Korean people were used to find equal sensation curves subject to vertical whole-body vibration on seated posture. Among 20 males, an over weighted group consisted of 10 male persons and an average weighted group was the others. Integrating and analyzing the data of two groups, some of non-parametric tests such as 'The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test' and 'The Mann Whitney U test' were used.

In this paper, we present an adaptive parametric cubic convolution technique in order to enlarge the low resolution image to the high resolution image. The proposed method consists of two steps. During the first interpolation step, we acquire adaptive parameters in introducing a new cost-function to reflect frequency properties. And, the second interpolation step performs cubic convolution by applying the parameters obtained from the first step. The enhanced interpolation kernel using adaptive parameters produces output image better than the conventional one using a fixed parameter. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only provides the performances of $0.5{\sim}4dB$ improvements in terms of PSNR, but also exhibit better edge preservation ability and original image similarity than conventional methods in the enlarged images.

A BOR(Boil-Off Rate) prediction model for the NO96 membrane-type LNG insulation containment filled with superlite powders during laden voyage is presented in this paper. Finite element model for the unsteady-state heat transfer analysis is constructed by considering the air and water conditions and by employing the homogenization method to simplify the complex insulation material composition. BOR is evaluated in terms of the total amount of heat invaded into LNGCC and its variation to the major variables is investigated by the parametric heat transfer analysis. Based upon the parametric results, a BOR prediction model which is in function of the LNG tank size, the insulation layer thickness and the powder thermal conductivity is derived. Through the verification experiment, the accuracy of the derived prediction model is justified such that the maximum relative difference is less than 1% when compared with the direct numerical estimation using the FEM analysis.

When there exists a change-point in hazard function, it should be estimated for exact parameter or hazard estimation. In this research, we compare the hazard change-point estimators. Matthews and Farewell (1982) parametric change-point estimator is based on the likelihood and Zhang et al. (2014) nonparametric estimator is based on the Nelson-Aalen cumulative hazard estimator. Simulation study is done for the data from exponential distribution with one hazard change-point. The simulated data generated without censoring and the data with right censoring are considered. As real data applications, the change-point estimates are computed for leukemia data and primary biliary cirrhosis data.
As the presence of background noise in acoustic signal degrades the performance of speech or acoustic event recognition, it is still challenging to extract noise-robust acoustic features from noisy signal. In this paper, we propose a combined structure of Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network (WGAN) and MultiTask AutoEncoder (MTAE) as deep learning architecture that integrates the strength of MTAE and WGAN respectively such that it estimates not only noise but also speech features from noisy acoustic source. The proposed MTAE-WGAN structure is used to estimate speech signal and the residual noise by employing a gradient penalty and a weight initialization method for Leaky Rectified Linear Unit (LReLU) and Parametric ReLU (PReLU). The proposed MTAE-WGAN structure with the adopted gradient penalty loss function enhances the speech features and subsequently achieve substantial Phoneme Error Rate (PER) improvements over the stand-alone Deep Denoising Autoencoder (DDAE), MTAE, Redundant Convolutional Encoder-Decoder (R-CED) and Recurrent MTAE (RMTAE) models for robust speech recognition.
