액정 소자의 위치 민감도 및 수차 특성에 대한 연구 (The Analysis of position Sensitivity and Aberration characteristics of Liquid Crystal Elements)

  • The Blu-ray disc as a next generation high density optical medium uses an objective lens of high numerical aperture(NA 0.85) and blue laser in order to increase the recording density. The double layer is also useful for doubling the density. The spherical aberration of Blu-ray disc is very sensitive to the thickness of the disk because of high numerical aperture. This paper suggests a method to compensate the spherical aberration caused by the change of disk thickness, by using the Liquid Crystal lens instead of the Liquid Crystal panel. It was possible to develop both the LC panel generating the optical phase difference and LC lens changing the optical power. In this paper, we analyzed the aberration performance and a position sensitivity of the two type LC elements when the samples deviate from the optical axis of the objective lens. The results of applying this analysis show that the LC lenses rather than the LC panels have a significant assembling tolerance. The theoretical characteristics of the two elements are calculated and compared with the measurement data.

TBM 디스크 커터의 수명 예측 방법 개발 (Development of a new test method for the prediction of TBM disc cutters life)

  • 암반용 TBM 공사에서 디스크 커터의 마모도 예측은 설계 및 시공 단계에서 정확한 공사비와 공사기간을 추정하는데 중요한 요소이다. 디스크 커터 마모도 예측에 널리 사용되고 있는 방법으로는 CSM 모델, 노르웨이 NTNU 모델, Gehring 모델이 있으며, 이들 모델은 각각 세르샤 시험, NTNU 시험 결과로부터 도출된 디스크 커터의 마모지수와 수명 지수를 활용하고 있다. 세르샤 시험은 금속 핀을 이용하여 일방향으로 마모를 발생 시키기 때문에 광물 입자크기나 암석의 이방성에 따라 결과의 편차가 큰 것으로 조사되었다(SINTEF, 2013). 한편, NTNU 시험의 경우에 시료 성형을 위한 사전 작업이 필요하기 때문에 수행 완료까지 2~3일의 기간이 소요된다. 본 연구에서는 금속 디스크의 회전과 이와 직교되는 방향으로 이동하면서 양방향 마모를 발생시켜 마모시험 결과의 편차를 줄이고, NTNU 시험 대비 별도의 시료성형이 필요 없어 소요 시간을 1~2시간으로 단축할 수 있는 새로운 디스크 커터 마모도 예측시험과 이를 이용한 마모지수를 제안하였다. 제안된 마모 지수는 동일 암석을 이용한 세르샤 시험과 NTNU 시험결과와 비교하여 높은 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 국내 외 TBM 현장의 암석 시편을 이용하여 시험결과와 현장의 실제 디스크 커터 마모량을 비교 검증하였으며, 95%의 높은 결정계수를 확인하였다. NAT 시험은 신속하게 시험 수행이 가능하고, 시험 결과로부터 제안된 마모지수가 높은 신뢰수준을 보이는 것으로 판단되어 향후 활용도가 높을 것으로 기대한다.

김치 재료 methanol 추출물이 식품유해 미생물에 미치는 항균효과 (Antimicrobial effect of Kimchi ingredients of methanol extract on pathogenic microorganisms)

  • 4종류의 식품 위해 세균 Salmonella typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Esherichia coli과 김치 부패에 관여하는 곰팡이 Aspergillus sp. Penicillium sp.에 대하여 김치 재료에 의한 항균성을 조사하였다. Paper disc method로 측정한 생육저해환 결과 4 종류의 세균에 대하여 각 재료의 methanol 추출물들은 E. coli에 대해서 재료에 따라 약간의 차이는 있으나 약 20.00 mm에 가까운 항균성을 보이는 경향을 알 수 있었으며 생강과 양파는 다른 재료와 비교해볼 때 형성된 clear zone의 크기가 작은 경향을 확인할 수 있었다. 곰팡이에 대한 결과 Aspergillus sp.과 Penicillium sp.에 대하여 마늘 추출물이 가장 우수하였고, 생강 추출물과 무 추출물도 우수한 항균 작용을 나타내었다. S. typhimurium에 대하여 농도별 생육저해는 무, 양파 추출물이 균의 중식이 활발히 일어나는 대수중식기인 4$\~$12시간 사이에 생육을 억제하는 것으로 나타났고 고춧가루 추출물도 1,000 ppm의 농도에서 S. typhimurium의 생육을 크게 억제하는 것으로 나타났으며 L. monocytogenes의 생육에 미치는 영향은 S. typhimurium에 대한 결과 유사하였으며 paper disc로 조사한 생육 저해환의 결과와 일치하는 경향을 보였다. 반면 전체적으로 김치 재료 methanol 추출물은 S. aureus 생육 저해에 큰 영향을 미치지 못했으나 특별히 1,000 ppm 농도의 마늘 추출물이 S. aureus 생육에 있어서 유도기를 8시간까지 상당히 연장시켰다. Esherichia coli의 생육에 미치는 영향을 paper disc method로 측정한 생육저해환의 결과에서 대부분의 김치 재료 methanol 추출물이 우수한 항균성을 나타낸 것과 같이 농도별 생육 곡선을 측정한 결과에서도 미약하지만 모든 추출물에서 생육 억제 효과를 나타내었다. 최소저해농도(MIC)는 고춧가루 추출물이 L. monocytogenes에 대하여 500 $\mu$g/mL로 가장 낮은 값을 보였다.

  • Page-oriented holographic data storage (HDS) is very sensitive to the tilt error. Therefore, tilt error should be measured and compensated. Especially, mechanical tilt measurement method cannot cope with tilt error measurement because photopolymer medium has shrinkage problem. Therefore, the method to solve this problem is using the reconstructed image which can represent both tilt and shrinkage effect. In this paper, we suggest disc tilt measurement algorithm using image pattern of retrieval data.

디스크 브레이크의 편마모 저감을 위한 브레이크 패드의 마찰재 형상 강건설계 (Robust Design of the Disc Brake Pad Shape for Reduction of Uneven Wear)

  • In this paper, the method and its effectiveness to decrease the uneven wear of the brake pad were proposed. A finite element analysis was performed to analyze the pressure distributions on the contact surfaces. The optimum brake pad shape was determined by a robust design using the Taguchi method. The effectiveness of the optimum design was clarified by the wear tests with a dynamometer.

The Coupled Electro-Thermal Field Analysis for Predicting Over-Current Protector Behavior

  • The characteristics of heat transfer of the bimetal disc for over-current protection device is specified. Bimetal consists of two metals which have a different thermal expansion coefficient. To analyze the thermal characteristics, temperature distribution when bimetal acts as a switch is calculated. As usual, heat source is applied to the bimetal and electric current is heat source in the over-current protection switch. In this paper, thermal distribution are obtained by solving a coupled electro-thermal field with 3D finite element method.

Distributed Control of the Arago's Disc System with Gain Scheduler

  • Arago's disk system consists of a speed controller of the DC motor (inner loop controller) and a position controller of the magnetic bar angle (main controller), which are implemented by the design of the PI and PID controller, respectively. First, we analyzed the nonlinear characteristics of the Arago disk system and found the operating point range of three locations as a result. In this paper, a gain scheduler method was applied to guarantee a constant control performance in the range of $0{\sim}130^{\circ}C$, and a structure to change the controller according to the control reference value based on the previously obtained operating points was experimentally implemented. The Distributed Control Systems (DCS) configuration using the Controller Area Network (CAN) was used to verify the proposed method by improving the operational efficiency of the entire experimental system. So, simplicity of the circuit and easy diagnosis were achieved through a single CAN bus communication.

실험가토의 악관절원판 변위시 후방부착조직의 변화 (HISTOLOGIC CHANGE OF THE POSTERIOR ATTACHMENT IN ANTERIOR DISC DISPLACEMENT OF THE TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT-A NEW MODEL OF INTERNAL DERANGEMENT IN RABBITS)

  • This paper describes a new method to create an animal model for TMJ internal derangement in the New Zealand white rabbits and the light and electron microscopical changes of posterior attachment of them. Twenty six rabbits(2.5-3.0kg), four normal and twenty two experimental, were used. The right disc of experimental animal was displaced anteriorly without sectioning the posterior attachment and tied to the zygomatic arch with nylon not to be reduced to the original position. The left TMJ was sham-operated to be compared with its right experimental one. Normal animals were sacrificed one day and eight weeks after experiment. Experimental animals were sacrificed one day, ten days, three weeks, five weeks and eight weeks after surgery respectively. They were fixed intravenously with $2\%$ glutaldehyde under general anesthesia and the samples of them were processed for light and electron microscopic examination. The purpose of this experiment is to make a suitable animal model of disc displacement without reduction for studying and understanding the cellular and morphologic events in posterior attachment of TMJ including early changes which were difficult to be observed in human TMJs. The results of this investigation suggest the following conclusions : 1. Authors induced anterior disc displacement surgically in rabbits with new method to examine histologic changes of posterior attachment. Tissue reactions of this model seem to be similar to those observed in human disc displacement. We think this animal model for anterior disc displacement may be used to explore and evaluate objectively the effects of many treatment modalities in disc displacements. 2. The animal disease model showed inflammation at early stage(one and ten days). At this stage there were mild-to-severe mononuclear inflammatory cell infiltration, numerous newly formed vessels, vessel dilatation and engormement and many fibroblasts. 3. At middle stage(three weeks), fibrosis occurred, where fibroblasts decreased in number, but their cytoplasm was profuse indicating high activity. Collagen fibers increased in number and the tissue looked more dense. 4. At late stage(five weeks and eight weeks) showed degenerative changes including perforation of posterior attachment, disintegration of collagen fiber bundles, degeneration of fibroblasts, metastatic ossification, and dystrophic calcification.

Screening of Oriental Herbal Medicines for Antibacterial Activities

  • The water extracts of oriental herbal medicines which have been clinically used to treat bacterial infections in Korea were screened for in vitro antibacterial activity by the paper disc assay method. Two Gram positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus SG511, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 and two Gram negative bacteria, Escherichia coli 055, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 9027 were used as test organisms. Among 83 of the extracts tested, 25 were active against Staphylococcus aureus SG511, 9 were active against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, while none showed inhibitory activity against Eschelichia coli 055 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa 9027. Among them, Hwangyonhaedoktang plus hwangyon, Chongwisan, and Ssangbaksan showed remarkably potent antibacterial activity.

Antimicrobial and Antioxidative Effects of Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) Flower Extract and Its Fractions on Skin Microorganisms and Oxidation

  • Antimicrobial and antioxidative effects of 14 different herbal flower extracts on skin microorganisms and oxidation were tested in this research. Herbal flower extracts were prepared with 70% ethanol. Among the herbal flower extracts, roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) flower extract showed the highest antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis as determined by a paper disc method. The seventy % ethanol extract of roselle flower was fractionated by sequential hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water fractionation. The growth of S. epidermidis, Streptomyces collinus, Streptomyces coeruleoprunus, Salmonella enteritidis, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and Malassezia pachydermatis was most efficiently inhibited by ethyl acetate fraction of roselle flower extract as determined by a paper disc method and growth inhibition curves. In addition, the ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction and butanol fraction showed free radical scavenging and DNA cleavage inhibition activities. These results demonstrate that roselle flowers hold antimicrobial and antioxidative activities against skin microorganisms and oxidants.
