Laser Sealing of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Panels Using V2O5 and TeO2 Contained Glass (V2O5 및 TeO2 함유 유리를 이용한 염료감응형 태양전지 패널의 레이저 봉착)

  • Effective glass frit compositions enabled to absorb laser energy, and to seal a commercial dye-sensitized solar-cell-panel substrate were developed by using $V_2O_5$-based glasses with various amounts of $TeO_2$ substitution. The latter was intended to increase the lifetime of the solar cells. Substitution of $V_2O_5$ by $TeO_2$ provided a strong network structure for the glasses via the formation of tetrahedral pyramids in the glass, and changed the various glass properties, such as glass transition temperature ($T_g$), dilatometric softening point ($T_d$), crystallization temperature, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), and glass flowage without any detrimental effect on the laser absorption property of the glasses. The thermal expansion mismatch (${\Delta}{\alpha}$) between the glass frit and the substrate could be controlled within less than ${\pm}5%$ by addition of 10 wt% of ${\beta}$-eucryptite. An 810 nm diode laser was used for the sealing test. The laser sealing test revealed that the VZBT20 glass frit with 10 wt% ${\beta}$-eucryptite was successfully sealed the substrates without interfacial cracks and pores. The optimum sealing conditions were provided by a beam size of 3 mm, laser power of 40 watt, scan speed of 300 mm/s, and 200 irradiation cycles.

Optical, Thermal and Dielectric Properties of $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO Glasses for Plasma Display Panel (플라즈마 디스플레이 패널을 위한 $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO계 유리의 물리적 특성)

  • In PDP industry, the dielectrics and barrier ribs have been required with low dielectric constant, low melting point and Pb-free composition due to the low power consumption, low signal delay time and the environment restriction. We were studied with $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems about optical, thermal and dielectric properties. The glass forming region of the $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems was narrow due to the amount of the glass former $(B_2O_3)$. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the glasses was at $550{\sim}590^{\circ}C$. The glasses have 6~8 for the dielectric constant. Furthermore, the transmittance of the glasses was over 80% on the range of the visible ray. From the results, the glasses of the $B_2O_3-Al_2O_3$-SrO glass systems should enable to be a good candidate of the PDP devices for information display with low dielectric constant. The aim of this study is to give a fundamental result of new glass system for low dielectric constant in the information display.

Electrochemical Approach in Plasma Display Panel Glass Melts doped with Sulfate and Sulfide I. Oxygen Equilibrium Pressure

  • The oxygen gas behavior in PDP (plasma Display Panel) glass melts doped with sulfate ($SO_4^{-2}$) or blast furnace slag (BFS, $S^{2-}$) or both by means of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrodes was observed after the first fining. The temperature dependence of oxygen equilibrium pressure ($P_{O2}$) in each melt showed typical behavior, namely $P_{O2}$ decreased as temperature decreased. This suggests that an oxidation of $S^{4+}$ to $S^{6+}$ took place. However, the $P_{O2}$-value at constant temperature increased in the following order: BFS$P_{O2}$ of the melt doped with sulfate+BFS was much lower than that of the melt with only sulfate, although only 10% of sulfur was added by the BFS. This behavior can be explained by the redox reaction between sulfide ions in the BFS and dissolved oxygen ions in the melt during the first fining.

A Study on Driving Characteristics by Particle-inserting Method in Charged Particle Type Display (대전입자형 디스플레이의 입자주입 방법에 의한 구동특성 연구)

  • We analyzed the movement and response time of charged particles according to particle-inserting methods to understand the variation of quantity of q/m of charged particles, which is a very important factor in electrical and optical characteristics of the charged particle type display, such as lifetime, response time, contrast ratio, reflectivity, etc. For our study we used white and black charged particles of which diameter is $20{\mu}m$, prepared pieces of ITO(indium tin oxide) coated glass substrate, and formed ribs on the glass substrates. The width of a rib is $30{\mu}m$ and the cell size is $220{\mu}m{\times}220{\mu}m$. As the particle-inserting methods, the white and black charged particles were respectively inserted into a front and a rear panel with a very small electric field and also the mixture of the white and black charged particles were inserted into a rear panel. As a result of the driving characteristics of charged particles, the factors about variation of quantity of q/m according to the particle inserting method was experimentally demonstrate, showing very different driving voltage, response time, the particle movement, etc.

  • A transparent dielectric of the $PbO-B_2O_3-SiO_2-A1_2O_3$ system which was a low melting glass has been used for PDP (Plasma Display Panel), but it has a problem which is a reaction to be occurred between a transparent dielectric layer and electrodes (Ag, ITO) after firing. This research was conducted for ion migration of $Ag^+\$ and $Sn^ {2+}$ during firing three different frits of low melting glass. The result showed that yellowing phenomena occurred through a chemical reaction between $Ag^+\$and $Sn^ {2+}$ at 550~58$0^{\circ}C$ for 20~60 min. In addition, it was confirmed that the migration of $Sn^{2+}$ from ITO electrode made a strong effect on the yellowing phenomena.

  • Eye Glass Display (EGD) with microdisplay to realize the virtual display can make the large screen, so virtual image has been developed by using microdisplay panel. This paper shows study of spherical prism lens design and manufacture of a small size and light weigh EGD with 0.59" OLED panel. Code V is used and it designed an aspherical prism lens about eye relief 25mm and 42 degree of filed of view (FOV). With the application this aspheric prism lens to OLED type's microdisplay, virtual image showed 60 inch at 2m. It had less than 2% of distortion value and modulation transfer function in axial had 30% of resolution with 32 lp/mm spatial frequency. We made an injection molding bases to lens designed.

  • In OLED panel production process, it is necessary to cut a part of protective film as a preprocess for lighting inspection. The current method is to recognize only the fiducial mark of the cut-out panel. Bare Glass Cutting does not compensate for machining cumulative tolerances. Even though process defects still occur, it is necessary to develop technology to solve this problem because only the Align Mark of the panel that has already been cut is used as the reference point for alignment. There is a lot of defective lighting during panel lighting test because the correct protective film is not cut on the panel power and signal application pad position. In laser cutting process to remove the polarizing film / protective film / TSP film of OLED panel, laser processing is not performed immediately after the panel alignment based on the alignment mark only. Therefore, in this paper, we performed real time inspection which minimizes the mechanism tolerance by correcting the laser cutting path of the protective film in real time using Machine Vision. We have studied calibration algorithm of Vision Software coordinate system and real image coordinate system to minimize inspection resolution and position detection error and edge detection algorithm to accurately measure edge of panel.

  • For last couple of decades, uses of TFI-LCDs have been expanded to many FPD(Flat Panel Display) applications including mobile displays, desktop monitors and TVs. Furthermore, there has been growing demand for increasingly larger LCD TVs. In order to meet this demand as well as to improve productivity, LCD manufactures have continued to install larger-generation display fabrication facilities which are capable of producing more panels and larger displays per mother glass(substrate). As the size of mother glass becomes larger, a robot required to handle the glass becomes bigger accordingly, and its end effectors(arms) are extended to match the glass size. With this configuration, a considerable static deflection occurs at the end of the robot arms. In order to stack maximum number of mother glasses on a given footprint, the static deflection should be compensated. This paper presents a novel static deflection compensation algorithm. This algorithm requires neither measurement instrument nor additional vertical axis on the robot. It is realized by robot controller software. The forward and inverse kinematics considering compensation always guarantees a unique solution, so the proposed algorithm can be applied to an arbitrary robot position. The algorithm reduced static deflection by 40% in stationary robot state experiment. It also improved vertical path accuracy up to 60% when the arm was running at its maximum speed. This algorithm has been commercialized and successfully applied to a seventh-generation LCD glass-handling robot.

Heating Value and Noxious Gases Generation of Sandwich Panel Core using Artifical Lightweight Aggregate (다공성 경량골재를 충전재로 활용한 샌드위치 패널 심재의 발열량 및 유해가스 배출특성)

  • This study is to investigate the heating value and noxious gases generation such as CO, NO and $SO_2$ known as dangerous gas for human from specimen made of cement and lightweight aggregate. The most quanity of CO gas is generated in EPS(Expanded Poly Styrene), core of commercial sandwich panel. Although specimens mainly composed of cement discharged the relatively less CO gas than organic core such as EPS, specimens which SBR was added discharged the very much amount of CO gas similar to EPS and especially, specimens including foaming agent, gas foaming agent or redipersible powder of VA/VeoVa showed the good properties in the generation of CO gas. From the standpoint of the generation of NO and $SO_2$ gas, both the core of commercial sandwich panel such as EPS, Glass wool and specimens made with polymer dispersion such as St/BA and SBR discharge the very much amount of NO and $SO_2$ gas in comparison of the other specimens. From this study, it was confirmed that organic materials such as core of commercial sandwich panel dischared much more noxious gas than specimens composed of cement and inorganic lightweight aggregate.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the manufacture of light weight concrete panel using the artificial light-weight aggregate as a part of the substitution of foamed styrene and polyurethane because of narrow allocable temperature Bone in use. The experimental parameter of this study is 40, 60 and 8$0^{\circ}C$ of curing temperature at 100% relative humidity and the type of admixture such as cement, 6mm glass fiber and St/BA emulsion. Testing item is compressive and flexural strength and strength of specimen cured at standard condition is compared to that of specimen cured at 40, 60 and 8$0^{\circ}C$ of curing temperature at 100% relative humidity. As a result or this, it was revealed that the maximum or strength is developed in 6$0^{\circ}C$ or cure temperature at 100% relative humidity in case of the most of the specimen. Specimens modified by St/BA emulsion show the highest development of strength dependent on the curing tmeperature. So, it seems to be effective that evaporation curing method shoud be considered to curing the specimen as the panel core.
