  • The $sdu1^+$ gene encodes Sdu1, a PPPDE superfamily member of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Sdu1 was previously shown to contain an actual ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase (UCH) activity using the recombinant plasmid pYSTP which harbors the $sdu1^+$ gene. This work was designed to assess a thermotolerant role of Sdu1 against high incubation temperatures. In the temperature-shift experiments, the S. pombe cells harboring pYSTP grew much better after the shifts to $37^{\circ}C$ and $42^{\circ}C$, when compared with the vector control cells. After being shifted to $37^{\circ}C$ and $42^{\circ}C$ for 6 h, the S. pombe cells harboring pYSTP contained lower reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, compared with the vector control cells. The nitric oxide (NO) levels of the S. pombe cells harboring pYSTP were slightly lower than those of the vector control cells in the absence or presence of the temperature shifting. The total glutathione (GSH) levels of the S. pombe cells harboring pYSTP were significantly higher than those of the vector control cells. Total superoxide dismutase (SOD) and GSH peroxidase activities were also higher in the S. pombe cells harboring pYSTP after the temperature shifts than in the vector control cells. In brief, the S. pombe Sdu1 plays a thermotolerant role against high incubation temperature through the down-regulation of ROS and NO and the up-regulation of total GSH content, total SOD and GSH peroxidase activities.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the oralmyofunctions (occlusal force, tongue pressure, lip force) of adults and elderly people. And analyzed the factors affecting oral health related quality of life and dysphagia. The study was conducted on 73(over 20 years of age) Residing in Daejeon and Nonsan From December 2017 to May 2018. The data was analyzed using one-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The masticatory strength of each age group evaluated the right and left posterior occlusal forces. the elderys group (8.93, 10.80) were lower than adults group(12.51, 14.61) and middle age group(11.63, 14.75)(p>0.05). The tongue pressure was statistically significant lower in eldery group(37.43) than the adult group(60.55), middle-aged group(50.61) (p=0.000). In addition lip force was significantly lower in eldery group(8.57) than adult(12.01), middle-aged(11.37)(p= 0.000). The tongue pressure was positively correlated with the number of natural teeth(r=.566, p<.05), and the lip force (r=.497, p<.05). The quality of life quality related to oral health and dysphagia was tongue strength(p<0.05). It is necessary to recognize the risk of declining oral muscle function caused by aging. especially tongue strength is associated with quality of life and dysphagia. In order to improve the quality of life related to oral health in the aged society, the necessity of regular oral administration and oral muscle training was proposed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting turnover intention in pediatric nurses. Methods: A survey was conducted with 212 nurses working in pediatric units at 15 hospitals in Busan, K city. Data were collected from September 1 to October 31, 2014. and analyzed with SPSS PASW 18.0. Results: In Stepwise multiple regression analysis, factors affecting the nurses' turnover intention were emotional burnout (${\beta}$ =.37, p<.001), relationship between nurse and doctor (${\beta}$ =.20, p<.001), turnover plan (${\beta}$ =.17, p<.001), and annual salary (${\beta}$ =-.13, p<.001), and these variables accounted for 32.2% of the variance in turnover intention. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the major factors influencing pediatric nurses' turnover intention are emotional burnout, cooperative relationship between nurse and doctor, turnover plan, and annual salary. Thus, in order to reduce pediatric nurses' turnover intention, it is necessary to develop intervention programs to prevent emotional burnout, the most influencing factor, and enhance cooperative relationship between nurse and doctor and to examine their effects.

  • Mecoprop-p, a chlorophenoxy herbicide, has been widely used since the 1980s. Due to its high water solubility, it could be detected in the aquatic environment, as it has already been detected in the surface water or groundwater in several countries. The toxicity of other chlorophenoxy herbicides has been reported; however, there are few studies on the toxicity of mecoprop-p, one of the chlorophenoxy herbicides, on aquatic organisms. Here, we investigated the toxic effects of mecoprop-p using zebrafish. After mecoprop-p exposure, we observed that the zebrafish larvae eyes did not form normally, heart edema was generated, and the body length was shortened. The number of cells undergoing apoptosis also increased in the anterior part including head, heart, and yolk sac of the mecoprop-p-treated zebrafish compared to the untreated controls. Moreover, cardiovascular structures, including the heart and aortic arches, were also malformed after exposure to mecoprop-p. Therefore, our results suggest that mecoprop-p could cause abnormal development in zebrafish larvae and there is also a high possibility that mecoprop-p would be toxic to other aquatic organisms.

  • The boundary conditions $\tilde{P}_0$ and $\tilde{P}_1$ were introduced in [5] by using the Hodge decomposition on the de Rham complex. In [6] the Atiyah-Bott-Lefschetz type fixed point formulas were proved on a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary for some special type of smooth functions by using these two boundary conditions. In this paper we slightly extend the result of [6] and give two examples showing these fixed point theorems.

  • The Schizosaccharomyces pombe structural gene encoding bacterioferritin comigratory protein (BCP) was previously cloned using the shuttle vector pRS316 to generate the BCP-overexpressing plasmid pBCP10. The present work aimed to evaluate the thermoresistant properties of BCP against high temperature stress using the plasmid pBCP10. When the S. pombe cells were grown to the early exponential phase and shifted from $30^{\circ}C$ to $37^{\circ}C$ or $42^{\circ}C$, the S. pombe cells harboring pBCP10 grew significantly more at both $37^{\circ}C$ and $42^{\circ}C$ than the vector control cells. After 6 h of the shifting to higher incubation temperatures, they contained the lower reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitrite content, an index of nitric oxide (NO), than the vector control cells. After the temperature shifts, total glutathione (GSH) content and total superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were much higher in the S. pombe cells harboring pBCP10 than in the corresponding vector control cells. Taken together, the S. pombe BCP plays a thermoresistant role which might be based upon its ability both to down-regulate ROS and NO levels and to up-regulate antioxidant components, such as total GSH and SOD, and subsequently to maintain thermal stability.
