It is well known that the equiatomic FeAl alloy crystallizes in a paramagnetic CsCl structure and is very stable in a wide temperature range owing to a significant charge transfer from Al to Fe. A presence of structural defects normally enhances the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of this alloy. In this study spin-resolved photoemission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) were carried out on both ordered and disordered $Fe_{0.52}Al_{0.48}$ alloy films. The disordered state in the alloy films was obtained by a vapor quenching deposition on cooled substrates. It is shown that the order-disorder transition in the Fe0.52Al0.48 alloy films leads to a significant change in the spin polarization. Form the MCD results the orbital and spin magnetic moments of the constituent atoms are obtained. According to the sum rule the spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe in the disordered FeAl film are $\mu\frac{SR}{spin}=0.8\mu_B$ and $\mu\frac{SR}{orb}=0.14\mu_B$ respectively. The spin magnetic moment is also evaluated to be $\mu\frac{BR}{spin}=0.77\mu_B$ by the branching ration method employing a photon polarization of 90%.

The effect of initial combined load on the lateral free vibration of arches is investigated. For the analysis, P-M interaction curves for the arches are obtained. The arches are circular arches which have constant cross-section and simply supported. Also, the arches are subjected both radial uniform distributed load which results in an axial compression on the cross-section and end moments that cause uniform bending action at the same time. All analysis are performed by finite element method based on Kang and Yoo's curved beam theory.
Using computer simulated irregular waves, variations of ocean wave statistics according to sea state are analyzed, and the reasonable conditions that transform the energy spectrum to individual wave statistics are discussed. Ocean wave statistics varying with sea state are found to respond linearly to the spectral peakedness parameter $Q_p$ and spectrum moments $m_n$ (n = 0, 1, 2${\cdots}{\cdots}\;\infty$ ). It is clarified that the 2nd-order spectrum moment is a reasonable parameter which represents the wave statistics including wave periods, and that the spectrum analysis should be carried out under the conditions of minimum data length of 10 times of peak period $T_p$ with time lag of $7T_p$ to satisfy the stable condition of wave statistics.

We investigated the electronic structure and magnetic properties of zinc-blende CrP/SrBi interface by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation. It is found that the half-metallicity is destroyed when the two half-metals are in contact. Magnetic moments of the atoms forming the supercell differ considerably from the respective values obtained for the bulk structures of the two materials. Cr atoms being and not being in contact with Bi atoms have magnetic moment 3.43 and $2.69{\mu}_B$, respectively. Bi atoms lose their majority electrons which results in their negative polarization. Alkaline Sr atoms are very weakly negatively polarized. The spin distribution within the supercell is such that well separated regions of positive and negative polarization are seen, especially around the layer of P atoms being in contact with the layer of Sr atoms.
This paper shows an optimal design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings based on a criterion of minimum cost. The classical design method for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings is: First, a dimension is proposed that should comply with the allowable stresses (Minimum stress should be equal or greater than zero, and maximum stress must be equal or less than the allowable capacity withstand by the soil); subsequently, the effective depth is obtained due to the maximum moment and this effective depth is checked against the bending shear and the punching shear until, it complies with these conditions, and then the steel reinforcement is obtained, but this is not guaranteed that obtained cost is a minimum cost. A numerical experimentation shows the model capability to estimate the minimum cost design of the materials used for a rectangular combined footing that supports two columns under an axial load and moments in two directions at each column in accordance to the building code requirements for structural concrete and commentary (ACI 318S-14). Numerical experimentation is developed by modifying the values of the rectangular combined footing to from "d" (Effective depth), "b" (Short dimension), "a" (Greater dimension), "${\rho}_{P1}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 1), "${\rho}_{P2}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 2), "${\rho}_{yLB}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel in the bottom), "${\rho}_{yLT}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel at the top). Results show that the optimal design is more economical and more precise with respect to the classical design. Therefore, the optimal design presented in this paper should be used to obtain the minimum cost design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings.
Ab initio SCF calculations have been carried out for the five conceivable trimers formed between one hydrogen cyanide and two hydrogen fluorides using a basis set of TZ+P quality. Several ground state properties of these trimeric complexes have been evaluated, and compared with those of isolated monomers and appropriate dimers. Computed equilibrium geometries, stabilization energies, and dipole moments are given in order to suppliment the available experimental data. At this level of approximation, intramolecular bond distances are consistently shorter than experimental ones. However, intermolecular distances upon complex formation, and dipole moments are overestimated compared with experimental ones. HCN$(HF)_2$ trimer appears to be the most favourable among the five kinds of trimer complex, and also more stable than $(HCN)_2HF$. The typical features of the non-additivity of intermolecular interaction are relatively strong in the HCN$(HF)_2$ trimer.
Numerous studies have shown that normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) distribution adequately fits the empirical return distribution of financial securities. The estimation of parameters can also be done relatively easily, which makes the NIG distribution more useful in financial markets. The maximum likelihood estimation and the method of moments estimation are easy to implement; however, we may encounter a problem in practice when a relationship among the moments is violated. In this paper, we investigate this problem in the parameter estimation and try to find a simple solution through simulations. We examine the effect of our adjusted estimation method with real data: daily log returns of KOSPI, S&P500, FTSE and HANG SENG. We also checked the performance of our method by computing the value at risk of daily log return data. The results show that our method improves the stability of parameter estimation, while it retains a comparable performance in goodness-of-fit.

Practical stability design method of main members of cable-stayed bridges is proposed and discussed through a design example. For this purpose, initial tensions of stay cables and axial forces of main members are firstly determined using initial shaping analysis of bridges under dead loads. And then the effective buckling length using system elastic/inelastic buckling analysis and bending moments considering $P-{\delta}-{\Delta}$ effect by second-order elastic analysis are calculated for main girder and pylon members subjected to both axial forces and moments, respectively. Particularly, three load combinations of dead and live loads, in which maximum load effects due to live loads are obtained, are taken into account and effects of live loads on effective buckling lengths are investigated.

In the authors' previous study, an axial force-flexural moment (P-M) interaction curve model was proposed to evaluate fire-resisting performances of reinforced concrete (RC) column members. The proposed method appeared to properly consider the axial and flexural strength degradations including the secondary moment effects in RC columns due to fire damage. However, the detailed P-M interaction curve model proposed in the authors' previous study requires somewhat complex computational procedures and iterative calculations, which makes it difficult to be used for practical design in its current form. Thus, the aim of this study was to develop a simplified P-M interaction curve model of RC columns exposed to fire considering the effects of fire damage on the material performances and magnitudes of secondary moments. The simplified P-M interaction model proposed in this study was verified using 66 column fire test results collected from literature, and the verification results showed that the proposed simplified method can provide an adequate analysis accuracy of the failure loads and fire-resisting times of the RC column specimens.
