  • This study investigated the results of insulation heat curing method using double layer bubble sheet in concrete in cold weather environment. First of all, when double bubble sheets are applied, it was shown that concrete was protected from early freezing by remaining between 7℃ and 3℃ even in case outside temperature drops -7℃ below zero until the 3d day from piling. The insulation heat preservation curing method using the double bubble sheet applied in this field prevented early freezing owing to stable curing temperature management, deterring concrete strength development delay at low temperature, and obtained the needed strength. Also, it was proven that the method is highly effective and economic for cold weather concrete quality maintenance through curing cost reduction like construction period shortening and labor cost reduction, etc by reducing the process of temporary equipment installation and disassembling.

  • This study investigated the results of insulation heat curing method using double layer bubble sheet in slab concrete in cold weather environment. First of all, when double bubble sheets are applied, it was shown that slab concrete was protected from early freezing by remaining between 5 and $l0^{\circ}C$ even in case outside temperature drops $-11^{\circ}C$ below zero until the 4nd day from piling.

  • The results of experiment on the performance of natural ventilation by insulation thickness and height system of solar chimney are described. The 3-inside wall was made of concrete and 1-wall was made of glass. The two kinds of model experiment were performed. One was the varition of the 60cm, 90cm and 120cm of solar chimney, the other was the variation of the insulation thickness 10mm and 50mm and without insulation of outside wall of solar cimney. As the temperature difference between bottom and top expressed $1.7\sim2.9^{\circ}C$, air velocity measured $0.5\sim0.8m/s$ and ventilation rate was $194.4m^3/h$ in the case of the 120cm height of solar chimney, the respect of natural ventilation performance was superior to others cases in the first model experiment. Though the case of 120cm height of solar chimney was attached 50mm insulation the ventilation rate was not so much as the case of solar chimney was attached 10mm insulation. the temperature difference between bottom and top was the largest in the other cases. From this research, the natural ventilation performance of solar chimney was affected by not only height and insulation thickness of solar chimney but also wind velocity and directon.

  • This study evaluated the convenience and heating performance of 4 heated vests on the market through a trial of the vests. Participants were four healthy men who wore the garments outside in cold temperatures typical of the garments' real conditions of use. As the results, all the participants preferred the product, having an easily operable controller in ergonomic aspects and the good insulation for keeping the body temperature. The heating performance of vests was the most important factor in selecting the best product in this test. Indeed, the vests themselves found not to be sufficiently warm in the experimental condition. Thus, heated vests with the enhanced heating performance should be developed so that temperatures in the allowed range can be safely accessed.

  • This paper presents the detection method of partial discharge in metal clad switchgear(MCS) using electromagnetic technique. Two antennas are located in the inside and outside of the MCS, and electromagnetic waves detected by these antennas are analyzed and compared by FFT method in order to identify an insulation abnormality. As a result of the experiment by the proposed method, we show the detection possibility for partial discharge in the MCS. The proposed method is expected to apply to insulation condition observation and an accident prevention in the MCS effectively.

  • Various materials are used as electrical barrier materials, such as glass, insulating oil, gas, paper and polymer. These materials shut off electricity from conductor as a barrier and separate as well as support conductor from outside environment while using electrical equipment. Polymers are generally used for cable insulation material. Recently environmental regulation are reinforced and eco-friendly materials are in trend.

  • This paper simulated partial discharge caused by 22.9[kV] power cable using XLPE(Peroxide Crosslinkable Polyethylene) insulation having the outside damage. As one of the insulation diagnostic method a radiated electromagnetic waves were measured by an UHF method using a BiconiLog antenna(EMCO-3142) and a spectrum analyzer used to measure EMI, EMC. From results of this study, It was confirmed that discharge progress were possible to be estimated by the proposed method.

  • Condensation has mainly occurred in corridor type apartment door which is exposed to the outside air and is made of steel, which has high thermal conductivity. As a result, the total costs of repair have increased with the number of disputes with residents. In this study, therefore, we investigate materials and construction methods used in apartment door, perform a computer simulation to find out possible improvements, and then suggest the dew point to prevent the occurrence of condensation throughout simulation. The results indicate that the temperature that condensation does not occur is $15.4^{\circ}C$, and the optimum method of achieving this dew point is shown to be a door frame system including a large vertical slot to decrease the area of thermal conduction between the outer and inner portions of the door frame. Mock-up tests show that the surface temperature of the door frame was higher than the dew point, and the system can withstand severe cold conditions of $-20^{\circ}C$. In application test, the surface temperature of door frame with vertical slots is $5.9^{\circ}C$in average, which is higher than the existing door frame. Furthermore, in the temperature distribution of the surrounding door measured with infrared ray camera, the existing door shows the high temperature distribution indicating lack of insulation, but the improved door shows the low temperature distribution indicating higher insulation.

  • This study is a basic experiment on quality management of the compression strength of high strength concrete, aiming. at quality management of high strength mass concrete by giving the temperature hysteresis of the mass test pieces to managerial test pieces. Different from ordinary concrete, high strength concrete generally shows the temperature high rising caused by hydration heat inside the concrete. It is known that, in mass concrete, thermal stress occurs due to the difference in temperature between the inside and the outside, which causes a significant difference in compression strength between structure beams and managerial test pieces. It is also reported that there is a large difference between the compression strength of cylindrical managerial test pieces of standard underwater curing and the strength of structure beam concrete. Thus, this study made concrete test pieces in an optimal mix ratio for each strength level, and also created thermal insulation curing box and managerial test pieces. Then it carried out comparative analysis in relation to core strength and suggested equipment and a technique that can control the strength of high strength concrete mass more conveniently and accurately.

  • This study investigates the field application of surface insulation curing method, which combined double layer bubble sheet(DBS) and thick-curing-material(TCM) for cold weather concreting. According to the test, deck slab, curing only upper section with DBS and TCM, does not make big different temperature history with that, curing both upper and bottom section during daily average temperature 6.5t. It is concluded that combination of DBS and TCM in only upper section can be safely cured in early period of time during cold water concreting. The field test was carried out with this favourable data. The upper deck slab was insulated by combination of DBS and TCM, and the construction was surrounded by tent. in order to protect from outside wind. The test result shows that the lowest temperature of deck slab indicated 6$ ^{circ}C $. It demonstrated that this curing method can resist early frost and save construction cost in the side of management and saving labor cost, compared with previous method. In addition, the column specimen, combined both form and bubble board, exhibited favorable temperature history, due to internal hydration heat insulation effect.
