  • This study was to investigate high students' conceptions of acids and bases, and their views on learning science. Multiple sources of data were collected over six months with a participation of sit tenth graders and their science teacher. The transcripts of interviews and other data were examined with an eye toward students' conceptions of acids and bases, and their views of learning science. Students' views of science are displayed the representative pattern. Each pattern is represented with an episode. Students' views of learning have been found to reflect the transmissive models of science educational practice. Students accept passive and difficult-to-modify views of the learner roles that they should play in the science classroom. Students identified science classes as conservative places, despite the introduction of science literacy as a goal of Korean science education since 1980. Behaviorism remains the major influence in their expectation, design, and practice in school science. Moreover, 'transmission' remains the persistent and dominant classroom cultural dynamic for both teaching and learning of science.

The subjects of study are female students of universities in Korea, China and Hong Kong. The data analysis was done with the statistical treatment in SPSS 14.0, and the results are as follows. Female students of universities in Korea, China and Hong Kong are distinguished from wearing color and preference color of innerwear. Korea and China female students prefer skin color to the other color but most of Hong Kong female students prefer black color. In case of red color, Korea female students don't select a red color as a preference color but even if some students select a red color, China and Hong Kong females prefer a red color. The traditional color opinions of Korea, China and Hong Kong are the same as a Yin-Yang School. But these days they have different color opinions because of cultural, political and ideological elements. Korea females like skin and white colors because these colors don't appear on the outwear surface. Korean have an inclination toward conservatism and use the color according to ideological and deceptive orders of the Confucianism. Hong Kong have a different color preference from China because they have chances of receiving the other cultures for example United Kingdom, Japan and so on.

Subjects were 624 male and female high school students in north and south to the Hangang river, Seoul, and those in Kunsan City, Jeonlabuk-Do. The clothing consumption orientation were classified 4 dimensions by factor analysis: brand orientation, others-sensitivity, impulse buying, and advertizement influence. Female students were significantly higher in brand orientation, others-sensitivity, and impulse buying than males. Students in the south Seoul are influenced more than the other two regions by brand orientation, others-sensitivity, and impulse buying. There were significant interaction effects in brand orientation and others sensitivity by sender and region. In the north Seoul students, males demonstrated less brand orientation than females. while south Seoul male students did high others-sensitivity tendency than male of the other regions. Males of north Seoul and Kunsan spent less expense for clothing, but south Seoul students equally in males and females spent the highest for clothing. About one-third of all adolescents had imitated appearance of an entertainer. mostly for hair-styles of them. Major commodities that teenagers purchased on impulse were shirts, pants, shoes, and bags. Since shoes prevailed among purchased famous brands, teenagers seem to be most interested in shoes as far as the brand was concerned in particular. In general, clear differences of gender and region were observed in clothing consumption behavior: male adolescents in the north Seoul and Kunsan City exhibited Passive clothing behavior, whereas south Seoul males and females showed active behavior and gender-equality.

  • This study investigates significant factors regarding college freshman engineering students and analyses each factors influence on student satisfaction in the College of Engineering core curriculum. We carried out a survey targeting 505 students who completed their fundamental education for major course learning in the 2011 academic year while attending one college in Gwangju and ruled out inadequate respondents. A total sample size 437 students were analyzed. The seven independent variables are academic fees, academic term period, academic environment of the classroom, learning material content, time of lecture, student sincerity and student need for the program. The dependent variable is fundamental education satisfaction level. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the following factors were found to be significant in the following order: learning material content, time of lecture, student sincerity, student need for the program, academic fees and academic environment of the classroom. On the other side academic term period was not significant. For improving fundamental education satisfaction, there is a need for prudent consideration regarding learning material development and lecture times. Also further investigation should take place for policies necessary for increasing learner motivation and sincerity, and expand appropriate conditions for learners to become self-aware of the education they need within their major.

  • This study was performed to investigate the adequacy of dietary fat and protein intakes among female college students. Daily intakes of energy, fat, protein, major amino acids and other nutrients were measured in 52 female college students. Daily energy intake was 75.8% of the recommended intake. Fat and protein consist 19.2% and 16.7% of the total calorie, respectively. The average protein consumption per day was 105% of the recommended intake. Essential amino acids intakes were more than the recommended amounts which appears in the 6th edition of Recommended Dietary Allowances for Koreans. However, when the intake of each essential amino acid was compared to the recommended amino acid requirement pattern, these subjects did not meet the estimated requirements. There was a highly significant correlation between daily protein intake and lipid intake implying the major sources of protein in the diet were also major sources of fat. Daily intakes of dietary fiber, vitamin C, iron, and phosphorous were above the recommended levels of intake. However, blood hemoglobin concentration was marginal indicating dietary iron consumption is not a good marker for iron status. Also, calcium intake was only 63.5% of the recommended intake. Therefore, these results imply that main problems for these subjects are low energy consumption, low calcium intake, and the quality of protein. However, as opposed to the hypothesis, the main energy sources were not the food items high in saturated fats such as instant foods, which should be emphasized further.

In order to see the general characteristics and the distribution of major variables of the respondents, the data were used to produce frequency. percentile, standard deviation and correlation quotient. and t-test. one-way Anova, Duncan's multiple range test and multiple regression analysis techniques were put to use. The results from this study are as follows: student groups that have good relations with other students seemed to be more open and active in their communication with their mother and father.
