  • Consider a solution y(t) of the nonlinear equation (E) y" + f(t, y) = 0. A solution y(t) is said to be oscillatory if for every T > 0 there exists $t_{0}$ > T such that y($t_{0}$) = 0. Let F be the class of solutions of (E) which are indefinitely continuable to the right, i.e. y $\in$ F implies y(t) exists as a solution to (E) on some interval of the form [t$\sub$y/, $\infty$).   • TNumerical simulations of the supersonic impinging jet flows are carried out using the 3D Navier-Stokes code. This paper is focuses on the unsteady flow features associated with stagnation bubbles and other oscillatory behavior. The 3D code was validated by reproducing the results of Lamont's experiments. Computation is carried out for the cases in which the unsteadiness of the plate shock has been observed experimentally. The computational results confirm the oscillatory feature in several kHz. Unsteady calculation with algebraic turbulence model is also performed. It is found that the laminar and turbulent results have some discrepancy in the transient period. However, both of them reveal the oscillatory behavior with similar frequency.

  • In this paper active vibration control system using a linear oscillatory actuator (LOA) is studied to suppress structural vibration. Being compared with a hydraulic actuator, a LOA has simplified structure and requires a few elements, so it has lots of merits with respect to economics and maintenance. Performance test of active vibration control system using LOA is carried out on a steel test structure under base excitation. From this test it is confirmed that acceleration level of test structure is reduced near the resonance region. In the future research on the application to large to structures will be studied.

Rheological properties of arabinogalactan solutions related to the carbohydrate composition of different legumes

  • The aim of this study was to elucidate chemical structures and rheological properties of arabinogalactans (AGs) isolated from three legumes including black gram (BG), great northern bean (GNB), and California small white bean (CSWB). The ratio of galactose to arabinose (G/A) in three legumes increased in the order of BG > GNB > CSWB. The rheological measurements of 1-5% (w/v) AG solutions revealed Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow behaviors. BG exhibited yield stress, indicating plastic behavior. Small-amplitude oscillatory tests indicated viscoelastic properties of BG, GNB, and CSWB ranging from solid-like, paste-like, and liquid-like behaviors, respectively. Small-strain oscillatory tests were conducted to assess the structure recovery of the AGs after pre-shearing. G" values of BG and GNB increased, but those of CSWB remained constant after shearing. These results suggest that the chemical structures of the AGs, particularly their G/A ratios, influence their rheological properties.

  • Neural oscillator is applied in oscillatory systems (Analysis of image information, Voice recognition. Etc...). If we apply established EBPA(Error back Propagation Algorithm) to oscillatory system, we are difficult to presume complicated input's patterns. Therefore, it requires more data at training, and approximation of convergent speed is difficult. In this paper, I studied the neural oscillator as synchronized states with appropriate phase relation between neurons and recognized the Korean alphabet using Neural Oscillator Phase model Synchronization.

  • The configuration space and phase space oscillatory path integrals are computed in the case of the stochastic Schrodinger equation for the harmonic oscillator with a stochastic term of the form (K$\psi$(sub)t)(x) o dW(sub)t, where K is either the position operator or the momentum operator, and W(sub)t is the Wiener process. In this way formulae are derived for the stochastic analogues of the Mehler kernel.
