Superimposition of horizontal and vertical curves may hamper the ride comfort and running stability of train and largely affect the maintenance costs. However, in many cases, it is not easy to make a track alignment plan because of the geographic conditions or undesirable environmental factors. In this paper, a comparative study on the effect of superimposition of vertical and horizontal curve on the ride comfort and optimum horizontal curve conditions was performed. That is, optimal cant and ride comfort analysis with and without a vertical curve superimposed on the horizontal curve were evaluated. Also the superimposition effect on ride comfort and alignment conditions in high speed zone were evaluated. From the analysis results, it was found that the ride comfort is similar to that at the only horizontal curves when applying the compensation cant for the superimposed site.
Rural Korea has been becoming heavily aged societies from the end of 20th century due to the massive depopulation of young generation and extension of the average span of human beings. Although rural communities in Korea had been traditionally based on closely webbed social relations, almost all of community self-help organizations disappeared in recent time with very strong urbanization trend. However, almost all rural villages in Korea have the village seniors' union -'NO-IN-HOE' in Korean speaking- of which members usually use, operate and maintain community facilities in terms of voluntary base. Using these facilities, most of public/common/private services and community activities have been being served or provided. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate the usage tendency of community facilities and needs of the rural elderly and to propose the improvement strategies for their optimum usage. For this purpose, data was gathered both from community (107 villages) and individual level surveys(881 older people). The statistical method used for data analysis was descriptive statistics. The major findings were as follows : It was found that the dominant family type of the rural elderly was elderly-only household (75%) with very limited economic capability. There are 2$\sim$3 common community facilities with village including the seniors' center -'KYOUNG-RO-DANG' in Korean speaking. Many of the elderly (74%) use the center once or twice per week. There are several rooms in the center, like as kitchen bathroom and health room, of which usage frequency differs respectively. Many rural elderly want assistance from out-of-village for good maintenance and free use of these facilities.

Peroxidase activity was measured in brown leaf spot pathogen (Myrothecium roridum) inoculated potted mulberry (Morus alba) during pre-symptomatic to various symptom development stages and compared with corresponding healthy leaf tissues. The enzyme showed a pH optimum of 7.0 and the activity was linearly increased up to 15 min of incubation. The peroxidase had a broad substrate specificity and the rates of oxidation were in the rank of pyrogallol> guaiacol> ascorbate at pH 7.0. Catechol at 10 mM inhibited 89% of guaiacol-peroxidase and 76% pyrogallol-peroxidase activities, indicated higher non-specific peroxidation in pyrogallol dependent assay system in mulberry than guaiacol. The optimum requirement for the guaiacol dependent assay was 0.2 ml (${\approx}40-60{\mu}g$ equivalent of protein) of crude enzyme source. Excepting the 8th leaf from the apex, the peroxidase activity did not vary appreciably in different leaf positions. In pre-symptomatic phases, an initial (1 to 5 min) rise of peroxidase activity was noticed in inoculated leaves, and then maintained a plateau up to 300 min. In contrary, non-infected tissue showed a slightly increased trend of enzyme level up to 420 min. In infected tissue, a sharp transient increase (3.1 fold) of peroxidase activity appeared between 300 - 420 min post infections. Afterwards, significantly different but steady maintenance of enzyme levels were observed in two treatments. On the other hand, during symptom development, a sharp increase in peroxidase activity was noticed up to 4th grade of lesion appearance (25.1 % to 50% of leaf area infection), and then declined slightly. However, in non-infected but same age healthy leaves, such huge fluctuations of enzyme level did not apparent. A high positive correlation $(R^2=0.92)$ between peroxidase activity and leaf spot development grades was also marked. The result implies that pre-symptomatic burst (between 1 - 5 and 300 - 420 min) and subsequent increased trend of guaiacol peroxidase activity may require for the symptomatic manifestation of Myrothecium leaf spot in mulberry.
In recent years, drones have been used to measure aircraft flights data and weather information. Related applications include the measure for low-altitude atmospheric data, the measure for atmospheric fine dust, and the measure for air pollution. However, the mounting position of the atmospheric measurement sensor should be mounted by considering the effects of propeller flow, the EMI effects, and the changes in the weight of the drone. Among these, the upper flow of the propeller affects the wind speed and direction, so the optimal position should be selected. This study deals with the proper height of the atmospheric data measurement sensor. Through the flow analysis, we study the flow characteristics of around a drone and suggest the proper sensor mounting height.

Papua New Guinea, birthplace of the South Pacific, is a natural nation which have potential of increasing crops output because it has optimum condition for crop growth as tropical rain forest climate under hot and humid climate. Farming village of Papua New Guinea want to produce crops for create income beyond the self-sufficiency. It needs the technological transfer such as irrigation facilities and understanding of agricultural weather condition for good crops production. In particular, it needs a improvement through pH, EC, ORP for make optimum soil condition and it need the standardization production and farm products what the consumer wants. Internationally technical cooperation is needed for agricultural development of Papua New Guinea and maintenance of international cooperation will help for economic development between the two countries. In particular, basic environment research for agricultural development of Papua New Guinea is expected to play a larger role of technical cooperation of agriculture.

The successful operation of a product In service depends upon the effective provision of logistic support in order to achieve and maintain the required levels of performance and customer satisfaction. Logistic support encompasses the activities and facilities required to maintain a product (hardware and software) in service. Logistic support covers maintenance, manpower and personnel, training, spares, technical documentation and packaging handling, storage and transportation and support facilities. The cost of logistic support is often a major contributor to the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) of a product and increasingly customers are making purchase decisions based on lifecycle cost rather than initial purchase price alone. Logistic support considerations can therefore have a major impact on product sales by ensuring that the product can be easily maintained at a reasonable cost and that all the necessary facilities have been provided to fully support the product in the field so that it meets the required availability. Quantification of support costs allows the manufacturer to estimate the support cost elements and evaluate possible warranty costs. This reduces risk and allows support costs to be set at competitive rates.Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) is a management method by which all the logistic support services required by a customer can be brought together in a structured way and In harmony with a product. In essence the application of ILS:- causes logistic support considerations to be integrated into product design;- develops logistic support arrangements that are consistently related to the design and to each other;- provides the necessary logistic support at the beginning and during customer use at optimum cost. The method by which ILS achieves much of the above is through the application of Logistic Support Analysis (LSA). This is a series of support analysis tasks that are performed throughout the design process in order to ensure that the product can be supported efficiently In accordance with the requirements of the customer. The successful application of ILS will result in a number of customer and supplier benefits. These should include some or all of the following:- greater product uptime;- fewer product modifications due to supportability deficiencies and hence less supplier rework;- better adherence to production schedules in process plants through reduced maintenance, better support;- lower supplier product costs;- Bower customer support costs;- better visibility of support costs;- reduced product LCC;- a better and more saleable product;- Improved safety;- increased overall customer satisfaction;- increased product purchases;- potential for purchase or upgrade of the product sooner through customer savings on support of current product.ILS should be an integral part of the total management process with an on-going improvement activity using monitoring of achieved performance to tailor existing support and influence future design activities. For many years, ILS was predominantly applied to military procurement, primarily using standards generated by the US Government Department of Defense (DoD). The military standards refer to specialized government infrastructures and are too complex for commercial application. The methods and benefits of ILS, however, have potential for much wider application in commercial and civilian use. The concept of ILS is simple and depends on a structured procedure that assures that logistic aspects are fully considered throughout the design and development phases of a product, in close cooperation with the designers. The ability to effectively support the product is given equal weight to performance and is fully considered in relation to its cost. The application of ILS provides improvements in availability, maintenance support and longterm 3ogistic cost savings. Logistic costs are significant through the life of a system and can often amount to many times the initial purchase cost of the system. This study provides guidance on the minimum activities necessary to Implement effective ILS for a wide range of commercial suppliers. The guide supplements IEC60106-4, Guide on maintainability of equipment Part 4: Section Eight maintenance and maintenance support planning, which emphasizes the maintenance aspects of the support requirements and refers to other existing standards where appropriate. The use of Reliability and Maintainability studies is also mentioned in this study, as R&M is an important interface area to ILS.

We examined the expression patterns of heat shock proteins in primary cultured hepatocytes from flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) exposed to heat shock. The expression of hsp90, hsp70, hsp40, hsp30, and hsp27 was induced and major polypeptides were hsp70, hsp30 and hsp27. Northern blot analysis showed that expression of hsp70 was inhibited by transcriptional inhibitor actinomycin D, suggesting that expression of hsp70 gene is regulated at the transcriptional level. Prolonged exposure of cells to an elevated incubation temperature $(30^{\circ}C)$ induced the transient synthesis of hsp90, hsp70, hsp40, and hsp30 whereas maintenance of cells at a slightly higher incubation temperature $(32^{\circ}C)$ induced the continuous syntheses of these hsps. When cells were incubated at a higher temperatures $(35^{\circ}C\;or\;37^{\circ}C)$, the synthesis of hsps was almost similar to that of hsps in cells exposed to 32't except for the induction of hsp27 synthesis. These results that temperature and incubation time for optimum expression of each hsp during prolonged heat shock are different.
In this paper, we measured the radiation dose of a fuel handling machine of the CANDU type Wolsong nuclear reactor directly during operation, in spite of the high radiation level. In this paper we will describe the sensor development, measurement techniques, and results of our study. For this study, we used specially developed semiconductor sensors and matching dosimetry techniques for the mixed radiation field. MOSFET dosimeters with a thin oxide, that are tuned to a high dose, were used to measure the ionizing radiation dose. Silicon diode dosimeters with an optimum area to thickness ratio were used for the radiation damage measurements. The sensors are able to distinguish neutrons from gamma/X-rays. To measure the radiation dose, electronic sensor modules were installed on two locations of the fuel handling machine. The measurements were performed throughout one reactor maintenance cycle. The resultant annual cumulative dose of gamma/X-rays on the two spots of the fuel handling machine were 18.47 Mrad and 76.50 Mrad, and those of the neutrons were 17.51 krad and 60.67 krad. The measured radiation level is high enough to degrade certain cable insulation materials that may result in electrical insulation failure.

In this study, wing design optimization for long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is investigated. The fluid-structure integration (FSI) analysis is carried out to simulate the aeroelastic characteristics of a high-aspect ratio wing for a long-endurance UAV. High-fidelity computational codes, FLUENT and DIAMOND/IPSAP, are employed for the loose coupling FSI optimization. In addition, this optimization procedure is improved by adopting the design of experiment (DOE) and Kriging model. A design optimization tool, PIAnO, integrates with an in-house codes, CAE simulation and an optimization process for generating the wing geometry/computational mesh, transferring information, and finding the optimum solution. The goal of this optimization is to find the best high-aspect ratio wing shape that generates minimum drag at a cruise condition of $C_L=1.0$. The result shows that the optimal wing shape produced 5.95 % less drag compared to the initial wing shape.

The preventive diagnostic technique prevents transformers from power failure through giving alarm and observing transformers in service. And it helps to establish the plan for optimum maintenance of the transformer as well as to find location or cause of fault using accumulated data. Data detection and experience of the preventive diagnostic system need to establish the preventive diagnostic algorithm regarding interrelationship between detected data and deterioration of equipment. Therefore in-depth analysis about the preventive diagnosis system is required. KEPCO has adopted the preventive diagnostic system at nine 345kV substations since 1997. Techniques for component sensors of the preventive diagnosis system were settled but diagnosis algorithm, diagnostic criteria and practical use of accumulated data are not yet established. This paper, to build up the base of preventive diagnostic algorithm for the Power transformer. investigated the preventive diagnostic criteria for the power transformer.
