  • 633M He-Ne 레이저의 반사경의 비등방성에 의한 발진 주파수 편이 및 레이저 매질의 분산특성 때문에 기인하는 레이저 주파수 당김효과를 측정하였다. 내부 반사경형 레이저 공진기에서 발진하는 종모드사이의 맥놀이 신호를 RF-스펙트럼 분석기로 분석하므로써 90kHz의 주파수 편이량차를 측정하였다.

  • The mechanisms of the meltback etching and regrowth processes are studied experimentally. The depth and time of the meltback is poltted with the experimental data and fitted with some functions. The method to reduce the anisotropy and elliminate the gallium is lands are also developed. It is possible to fabricate the AlGaAs micro-lens array by the use of the process and apply it to a new optical devices.

  • We investigate Frohlich-like electron--optical-phonon interactionsin uniaxial crytals based on the macroscopic dielectric continuum model. In general, the optical-phonon branches support mixed longitudinal and transverse modes due to the anisotropy. For heterostructures with double interfaces and superlattices, it is known that confined, interface, and half-space optical phonon modes exist in zincblende cystals. In uniaxial structures, additional propagating modes may exist in wurtzite heterosystems due to anisotropic phonon dispersion. This is especially the case when the dielectric properties of the adjacent heterostructure materials do not differ substantially. The dispersion relations and the interaction Hamiltonians for each of these modes are derived.

Effect of Shape Magnetic Anisotropy of Amorphous Fe-B-P Nanoparticles on Permeability

  • Many electronic applications require magnetic materials with high permeability and frequency properties. We improve the magnetic permeability of soft magnetic powder by controlling the shape magnetic anisotropy of the powders and through the preparation of amorphous nanoparticles. For this purpose, the effect of the shape magnetic anisotropy of amorphous Fe-B-P nanoparticles is observed through a magnetic field and the frequency characteristics and permeability of these amorphous nanoparticles are observed. These characteristics are investigated by analyzing the composition of particles, crystal structure, microstructure, magnetic properties, and permeability of particles. The composition, crystal structure, and microstructure of the particles are analyzed using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry-, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and focused ion beam analysis. The saturation magnetization and permeability are measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer and an LCR meter, respectively. It is confirmed that the shape magnetic anisotropy of the particles influences the permeability. Finally, the permeability and frequency characteristics of the amorphous Fe-B-P nanoparticles are improved.

The effect of deposition condition on the oxidation of TbFeCo thin films in facing targets sputtering system (Facing targets sputtering system에서 TbFeCo박막의 산화에 미치는 제조조건의 영향)

  • The effect of the deposition conditions, such as the base pressure, working pressure, sputtering power, pre-sputtering, and deposition thickness in facing targets sputtering system(FTS), on the oxidation of the TbFeCo thin films was studied by investigating the magneto-optical properties as well as oxygen analysis by the AES depth profiles. The results showed that the base pressure did not affect the magnetic properties so much, probably due to the short flight distance of the sputtered particles. At the higher sputtering power and lower working pressure with pre-sputtering the oxidation of TbFeCo thin films was decreased. As the film thickness increased the TbFeCo thin films showed the perpendicular anisotropy from in-plane anisotropy overcoming the oxidation effect at the beginning of the sputtering.

  • The changes in the optical anisotropy of the clean Cu(110) and the oxygen covered Cu(110) surfaces due to Cu growth have been studied by reflectance difference spectroscopy(RDS). We have monitored the growth mode of Cu atoms on Cu(110) and Cu(110)-(2XlO surfaces at 250K and checked the surfactant effect of oxygen during the Cu growth. For Cu grow on Cu(110) and Cu(110)-(2Xl)O surface at low temperature, we observed evidence for the layer-by-layer growth mode with change of 4.25eV peak intensity.

  • Polymer electronics is the one of the most promising way to realize the flexible electronics and many studies made remarkable progress to achieve the improvement in performance of polymer electronics comparable to current silicon-based technology. PBTTT is conjugated semiconducting polymer with highly ordered, chain-extended crystalline microstructures and shows high field effect mobilities above 0.1 $cm^2/Vs$. We studied PBTTTs FETs phase and explored methods to control channel interface in various device structures. Especially, in PBTTTs' unique nano-ribbon phase, we could obtain high mobilities of up to 0.4 $cm^2/Vs$, which was not reached before. Alignment of PBTTTs film was carried out using zone casting and anisotropy of mobilities in parallel and perpendicular to the polymer chain direction was investigated. Optical anisotropy in aligned nano-ribbon PBTTT FETs was also studied using a polarized optical absorption.

  • We investigate the effect of processing temperature of gate insulator and optical anisotropy on organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). The insulator film which was processed lower temperature than solvent boiling temperature can lead more aligned pentacne molecules compare to higher processed insulator film. It finally gives rise to the big increase of carrier mobility in OTFTs, although there are little difference at the seriously affecting properties to device performance, for example roughness of gate insulator film.

  • We have designed, synthesized, and evaluated the physical properties of some high birefringence (${\Delta}n$) isothiocyanato biphenyl-bistolane liquid crystals. These compounds exhibit ${\Delta}n^-$ 0.4-0.7 at room temperature and wavelength $\lambda$=633 nm. Laterally substituted short alkyl chains and fluorine atom eliminate smectic phase and lower the melting temperature. The moderate melting temperature and very high clearing temperature make those compounds attractive for eutectic mixture formulation. Several mixtures based on those compounds were formulated and its physical properties evaluated.

The oxidation of TaFeCo thin films according to the depositio conditions (제조조건에 따른 TbFeCo 박막의 산화)

  • The TbFeCo thin films were prepared by the magnetron sputtering system to investigate the effect of the base pressure, film thickness and pre sputtering on the oxidation of the films by analyzing the change of matneto optical properties and by AES depth profile. The films prepared by the facing targets sputtering system represented almost constant magneto optical properties independent of the base pressure resulting from the short flight distance of the sputtered particles. Also, the thin TbFeCo films represented better perpendicular anisotropy as the films thickness increased with pre sputtering. However, it was still needed a deposition rate higher than a certain critical deposition rate to obtain a perfect perpendicular anisotropy even at a very high film thickness.
