Social barriers were reported by 54% of doctors and 82% of nurses. Barriers due to interest and knowledge of health professionals about PC were reported by 76% of doctors and 75% of nurses. Among encouragement ideas to provide PC were dealing with staff educational needs (72%), improved working conditions (77%) and establishing a special PC unit (49)%. An independent PC unit was suggested by 27.7% of participants and there was no difference between the hospitals. To overcome the barriers for integration of PC into health systems, providing education for health professionals and patient relatives, raising awareness in society, financial arrangements and providing infrastructure were suggested. The necessity for planning and programming were emphasized. Conclusions: In our study, the opinions and perspectives of hospital managers and clinical directors were similar to current approaches. Although the proportion of frail elderly among the elderly population has been rapidly increasing, there is little preparation to provide housing alternatives for them in Korean society. Long-term care facility a housing alternative for frail elderly that enables them to receive social and medical care services that enhance the quality of their life. This research was conducted to study the opinions of middle-aged Koreans about long-term care facilities for the frail elderly. This study provides useful suggestions for the development of user-paid long-term care facilities in the near future. A survey questionnaire was administered to 600 adults in their 50s to collect data. The sample was stratified according to region, gender, and housing structure type. The results showed that most of the respondents were aware of long-term care facilities for the frail elderly; but they were relatively unwilling to live in these facilities, as compared to other housing alternatives. However, a larger number of respondents said that as they became very frail, they would be willing to live in these facilities. The respondents expressed a high level of need for user-paid long-term care facilities as an alternative to hospitalization. Also, they wanted to have a variety of long-term care facilities that are designed for different levels of disability. The education level of respondents and their spouses, average monthly income, subjective economic level, and religion were major variables that differentiated significantly the opinions about long-term care facilities for the frail elderly.
Objectives : Myopia is a disease which can be easily found in the child and it considers as a prevalent disease. This study has a reference of the literatures of oriental medicine on the myopia to investigate treatment principles of the myopia. Methods : This study is based on the literatures of oriental medicine. Results : According to the literatures of oriental medicine, there were two opposite opinions those could cause myopia. One was 'lack of Yinqi(陰氣)', the other was 'lack of Yangqi(陽氣)'. Originally many scholars thought that myopia was caused by laking of Yinqi(陰氣). The representative scholar was LiGao, and his work is Dongwonsunsangsihyobang(東垣先生試效方). But, some scholars insisted the opposite opinions, and the next generations accepted this opinion. The representative scholar was WangHaoGu(王好古), his work was Chasanangi(此事難知). Euihakgangmok(醫學綱目) published conversely the opinion of LiGao. Therefore, after ages appreciated that LiGao and WangHaoGu(王好古) insisted the same opinions-the cause of the myopia was lack of Yangqi(陽氣). So the most latest generation scholars knew that the cause of myopia was lack of Yangqi(陽氣). Conclusions : Historically many scholars insisted that myopia was caused by lack of 'Yangqi(陽氣)'. But that is the result of false transmission through the generation.

This study is conducted to evaluate the social concern of the related issues through trend analysis of reports on Oriental medical care in major domestic newspapers including Dong-a Ilbo, Hankook Ilbo, Chosunilbo, and JoongAng Ilbo. Materials of this study were collected from a total of 1,039 reports on Oriental medical care by internet search of each newspaper company's homepage from fan 1, 1993 to Dec 31, 1999. Two researchers analyzed the trend of report contents on Oriental medical care by publication year. The major results were as follows: The most frequent subject in these reports related to Oriental medical care was 'disease', appearing in 45.5% (473) of tile reports, followed by 'oriental health system (31.5%)' and "oriental medical facilities (16.5%)'. Also, topics on the collaborative efforts of Oriental and Western medical care were reported in 7.9% of the cases. According to a survey of the opinions held for the contents in these reports, 51.0% reports held neutral views while 48.2% and only 0.8% reports had favorable and negative views, respectively. In conclusion, the reports covering Oriental medical care in major domestic newspapers have increased in recent times and many held favorable views. Considering the widespread influence of mass-media, the government and health-related organizations must continuously monitor the opinions in daily newspapers, for the opinions are the influencing force of health-rotated behaviors and changes. In this light, these organizations should enforce the health policy on strategies for mutual development of Western and Oriental medicine in Korea.
Blockchain technology prevents tampering of central authorities that manage voting process, enhancing trust in the vote results. This technology enables citizens to participate more directly in the areas where delegation was inevitable due to the difficulties in polling fair and trustworthy public opinions. There are many projects around the world proposing to implement voting system for public decision making using blockchain technology. The blockchain voting system is expected to work as a transparent and fair channel for polling public opinions, which will transform the public decision-making process and governance. Korean National Pension Service (NPS) recently introduced stewardship code to better represent the interest of beneficiaries. However, because of the mistrust in governance of NPS, introduction of stewardship code is facing criticism for potential misuse of their voting rights against the interest of beneficiaries and for government's interference with corporate management. This study proposes a voting system applying blockchain technology for polling the opinions of National Pension Fund's beneficiaries to support public decision-making, and discusses social and institutional conditions for implementation of the proposed system.

This study was conducted to identify the needs of introducing new medical specialties in oriental medicine. Three stakeholders in introducing new oriental medical specialties are oriental medical doctors, policy makers and medical consumers. Of the three, this study intended to focus on opinions of oriental medical doctors. About 1,150 self-administered questionaries were sent to the potential respondents, 320 specialists, 250 interns & residents and 580 private oriental medicine practitioners, and 480 doctors responded. The study revealed that 62% of respondents showed negative attitudes towards the introduction of new oriental medicine specialties. The private oriental medical practitioners were more likely not in favor of adding new medical boardmanship. The reasons of objection were as follows : First, it is more important to enrich the existing oriental medical boardmanship (70%). Second, the newly established specialties are most likely to be weakened(15%). The study revealed that the first and most likely specialties to be introduced was Chuna(18%), subspecialization of oriental internal medicine (15.8%), the next oriental family medicine (15.1%) and so on. And the second specialties to be desired most by the respondents were (1) cooperative medicine between the westem and oriental medicine (28%), (2) oriental preventive medicine (17.4%) and (3) oriental family medicine (16.8%). Caution must be exercised in introducing new oriental medicine specialties. The failures of western medicine in the operation of its specialist production should carefully by examined here.
