GNSS Airborne Multipath Error Modeling Under UAV Platform and Operating Environment

  • In the case of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with a GNSS sensor, a boundary line where the vehicle can actually exist can be calculated using a navigation error model, and safe navigation (e.g., precise landing and collision prevention) can be supported based on this boundary line. Therefore, for the safe operation of UAV, a model for the position error of UAV needs to be established in advance. In this study, the multipath error of a GNSS sensor installed at UAV was modeled through a flight test, and this was analyzed and compared with the error model of an existing manned aircraft. The flight test was conducted based on a scenario in which UAV performs hovering at an altitude of 40 m, and it was found that the multipath error value was well bound by the error model of an existing manned aircraft. This result indicates that the error model of an existing manned aircraft can be used in operation environments similar to the scenario for the flight test. Also, in this study, a scenario for the operation of multiple UAVs was considered, and the correlation between the multipath errors of the UAVs was analyzed. The result of the analysis showed that the correlation between the multipath errors of the UAVs was not large, indicating that the multipath errors of the UAVs cannot be canceled out.

  • The developing country, KOREA where does not possess the natural resources for traditional energy such as oil and gas, so. The nuclear energy is the most single reliable source available for closing the energy gap. For these reason, It is inavoidable to construct the nuclear power plant and to develop technology related nuclear energy. The rate of operation in large nuclear power facilities depends upon the performance of work system through design and construction, and also the applied technology. Especially, it is the most important element that safety and reliability in operation of nuclear power plant. In view of this aspects, Nuclear power plant is performed severe examinations during preservice and inservice inspection. This study provide an automation of analysis for volumetric examination which is required to nuclear power plant components. It is composed as follows: I. Introduction II. Conclusion In this theory, It is classifying the flaws, the formula of classifying flaws and the design of automation that is the main important point. As motioned the above, Owing to such as automatic design, more time could be allocated to practical test than that of evaluation of defects, Protecting against subjective bias tester by himself and miscalculation by dint of various process of computation. For the more, adopting this method would be used to more retaining for many test data and comparative evaluating during successive inspection intervals. Inspite of limitation for testing method and required application to test components, it provide useful application to flow evaluation for volumetric examination. Owing to the characteristics of nuclear power plant that is highly skill intensive industry and has huze system, the more notice should be concentrated as follows. Establishing rational operation plan, developing various technology, and making the newly designed system for undeveloped sector.

Evaluation of Tractor PTO Severeness during Rotary Tillage Operation (로타리 경운작업 시 트랙터 PTO 가혹도 평가)

  • Analysis of load on major parts of the tractor power drive line is critical for efficient and optimum design of a tractor. The purpose of this study was to evaluate severeness of the tractor PTO driving axle during rotary tillage operation. First, S-N (stress vs. number of cycle) curve of a PTO driving gear was obtained through the fatigue life test using a PTO dynamometer. Second, PTO severeness was evaluated during rotary tillage operation. Torque measurement system was constructed with strain-gauge sensors to measure torque of a PTO axle, an I/O interface to acquire the sensor signals, and an embedded system to calculate severeness. The severeness of PTO was analyzed using measured torque data during rotary tillage. In the PTO gear life fatigue test, breakage time and bending stress of the gear were measured by tooth widths and torque change during the fatigue life test. The S-N curve showed a good linear relationship between bending stress and number of cycle (life) with a coefficient of determination of 0.97. For PTO severenss evaluation, rotary tillage operations were conducted at two PTO rotational speeds (level-1, level-2) under different paddy and upland field sites with different soil conditions. Results of averaged relative severeness for PTO level-1 and PTO level-2 were 1.96 and 3.34, respectively, at paddy field sites, and they were 1.36 and 2.51, respectively, at upland field sites. The results showed that the PTO driving axle experienced more severe load during rotary tillage at paddy fields than at upland sites, and relative severeness was greater at the higher PTO rotational speed under all of the soil conditions.

Design of a Multi-Protocol Gateway System Based on Low Power Wireless Communications (저전력 무선통신 기반 다중 프로토콜 게이트웨이 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper we propose a multi-protocol gateway system based on low power wireless communications. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system was designed to allow real-time monitoring and control of the on-site situation through wired and wireless networks by gathering information for streetlight power control and environmental monitoring. The sensing data using multi-sensors with composite processing that selectively used wired or wireless communication (e.g., CDMA, Ethernet (TCP/IP), GPS, etc.) were designed to act as intermediaries that transmitted to the main server through ZigBee. Inaddition, they were designed by separating a CPU board and baseboard to ensure low maintenance cost and ease of hardware replacement. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system's power, impact, continuous operation stability, and immunity test results obtained a normal operation success rate of over 95% and normal continuous operation results. Moreover, in the voltage drop test, instantaneous immunity test, and conductive RF electromagnetic field immunity test, it obtained an average rating result of "A".

  • In this paper we propose contents and results on installation and commissioning test for ATP on-board unit, which has propelled as one of the research projects, so called, "Reliability assessment and operation technology development for Korean-type tilting trains" in order to ensure the safety and operation efficiency of tilting trains. In KRRI, we have developed tilting trains for the speed-up of existing lines and for the passenger service improvement where the KTX is not available. And we also make progress the operation trial test at the speed of 10km with the use of ATS units, used in existing lines, for the purpose of the reliability assessment of the developed tilting trains. In MLTM, they have decided to accelerate the speed at more than 200km/h for the 7 existing lines including Jungang-line and Chungbuk-line where KTX has not operated. According to this decision, Train control system is to be changed from ATS to ATP. We should install an ATP on-board unit in tilting trains and verify the operational suitability. Therefore, we have installed and tested the same ATP on-board unit on tilting trains that used in the ATP construction project on Gyeongbu-line and Honam-line.

  • In this paper, we present the process of developing an automatic carrying and arming system for testing ammunition. When carrying out shooting tests at a domestic rifle range, most of the ammunition operations are carried out by human manpower The series of test processes, such as transporting, arming and firing of heavy munitions, is repeated by employing human. If the ammunition is loaded via manpower, then problems can occur such as loss of reliability of test results, musculoskeletal disorders of humans and also safety accidents can occur. To address these problems, an automated system was developed for the transport and operation of ammunition. This paper covers the design, manufacture and operation of the developed system. In addition, this study validated the effectiveness of the system as compared to the human operation. Our results show that the developed system can be easily adapted to testing ammunition at a domestic rifle range.

Reliability Testing and Materials Evaluation of Si Sub-Mount based LED Package (실리콘 서브 마운틴 기반의 LED 패키지 재료평가 및 신뢰성 시험)

  • The light emitting diodes(LED) package of new structure is proposed to promote the reliability and lifespan by maximize heat dissipation occurred on the chip. We designed and fabricated the LED packages mixing the advantages of chip on board(COB) based on conventional metal printed circuit board(PCB) and the merits of Si sub-mount using base as a substrate. The proposed LED package samples were selected for the superior efficiency of the material through the sealant properties, chip characteristics, and phosphor properties evaluations. Reliability test was conducted the thermal shock test and flux rate according to the usage time at room temperature, high-temperature operation, high-temperature operation, high-temperature storage, low-temperature storage, high-temperature and high-humidity storage. Reliability test result, the average flux rate was maintained at 97.04% for each items. Thus, the Si sub-mount based LED package is expected to be applicable to high power down-light type LED light sources.

  • After the 1970s, the importance of underground transmission systems increased and the construction rate of underground transmission lines also showed increasing trends each year, especially in metropolitan areas. Accordingly the social ripple effects are very large and wide when the fault occurs in underground power system, and the amount of time and money spent to restore the system also increases. So we must ensure stable operation and long-term reliability of the facilities. In Korea's case, long-term reliability tests for EHV power cables and accessories progressed poorly because equipment was not compatible for long-term reliability tests. Therefore we planned to construct a long-term reliability test field for EHV underground cables in order to ensure international quality reliability and optimal power cable operation techniques. The Gochang Underground Cable Test Field is under construction, funded by the Korean government, the govenment's union investment department, KEPCO, KERI and three private cable corporations. This project began in March, 2005 and will be completed by February, 2010. It is designed to promote joint research by incorporating several types of test equipment, construction of operating facilities, and being an internationally certified authority.

Effect of MEA fabrication on the performance degradation of DMFC (MEA 제조 방법에 따른 직접 메탄올 연료전지의 성능저하 현상 평가)

  • Catalyst coated membrane [CCM] type and catalyst coated substrate [CCS] type of membrane electrode assembly [MEA] were manufactured and evaluated their performance. Degradation test were conducted to find the difference of long term stability in two types of MEA and the factor for performance degradation problem occurred. Performance degradation test of single cell in two different types of MEA were carried out when current density was $200mA/cm^{2}$. The degradation test had proceeded for 230 hours and performance degradation was checked by I-V curve and impedance measurement at regular intervals. Also, MEA before/after operation and changes of catalyst layer were characterized by SEM, TEM, and XRD. Maximum power density of CCM type was higher than that of CCS type. Meanwhile, an increase of particle size of catalyst and an increase of impedance resistance after long term operation were observed. In the case of using CCM type MEA, the performance was deteriorated 38% of initial performance. In the case of using CCS type MEA, the performance was deteriorated 43% of initial performance. In consideration of difference of initial performance, performance of CCM type is higher than that of CCS type but both types had similar problems during degradation test.

  • For the effective use of satellite communication transponder, tests for the payload system such as IOT(In-Orbit Test), RPM(Routine Payload Monitoring), CSM(Communicatios System Monitoring), and REV(Remote Earth-Station Verification) have to be conducted. Those tests are used in order to verify the condition and generic design of the satellite, to provide a database for operational calculations, and to maintain the quality of communication services. As the satellite communication system gets with wider expansion with higher complexity of operation, tests for the communication system also need more complex operation that usesophisticated computer-controlled measuring system. For and C language based measurement functions, which uses GPIB protocol and SCPI commands. But SICL requires knowledge of BASIC and C language as well as GPIB and SCPL system. This paper introduces a new language called CALSTEP-Control and Access Language for the Systems of Test Equipment and Payload. This language is designed for the operator to perform the tests for the satellite communication system without any special knowledge that is mentioned above. This language has very limited number of commands which are to be used to control the payload system and test equipments to perform IOT and CSM, and those commands are very readable and easy to understand, so an operator without any knowledge of BASIC and C programming language, or SICL and SCPI command can use it.
