The Control Method of Rehabilitation Assistance Mobile Robot Using Force-Reflection Joystick (힘 반향 조이스틱을 이용한 재활보조용 이동 로보트의 제어 기법)

  • When the disabled is operating a rehabilitation assisting system with a joystick by himself, unlike in the case of a normal person, tremor with joystick control or instant miscontrol can often occur. If these misoperations should be directly relayed to the system, shaking or malfunction of the mobile rehabilitation assisting system might be the result. The safety of the disabled is of prime concern. To solve this problem, that is, to prevent the miscontrol of the disabled operator and avoid crashes into his or her surroundings, we propose the force-reflection locomotion algorithm with the joystick. This method uses ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance between the object and mobile robot. Based on the reception of sensory data, the necessary torque is applied via the joystick to the attatched motor. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, the subjects on the reflected force by the dynamic characteristics of the joystick and the reflected force by the distance information are tested Even though there are some differences in human dexterity, we confirmed the fact that the information from the obstacles was relayed to the operator via the joystick and resulted in an improved operational performance and safety level with regard to those obstacles.

  • The demand for electric power is increasing every year. All facilities operating at power stations and all facilities used in transmitting high volumes of electric power are therefore expected to operate with a high degree of reliability. 6.6 kV XLPE 100 SQ 1C cables are used to deliver high levels of generated electric power. Depending on the method of manufacture, installation environment, and usage conditions, the deterioration processes of power cables start from the instant of operation. Cable junctions may break down in three years from the start of operation due to manufacturing or construction defects. We have invented the first device in Korea to monitor the status of live cables and installed these at Korea Western Power Co., Ltd.. We have set the criteria to determine deterioration status and specified the degree of deterioration at which one should replace the cables. In this paper, we present the effect of insulation layer and sheath on the insulation resistance status in cables.

A Study on the Stability Improvement of Oxygen Handling Equipment to Prevent Fire and Explosion Accidents in High-Pressure Oxygen Transport Piping (고압산소 이송배관시 화재·폭발 사고 방지를 위한 산소 취급 설비 안정성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Oxygen, which is always present in the atmosphere among the three elements of combustion, can cause fires and explosions with only a very small amount of combustibles under high-pressure oxygen conditions. The burning rate is also significant, and can rise to temperatures that can have a direct impact, such as melting process equipment and piping in an instant. Therefore, accidents that occur under high pressure oxygen often cause more damage than other accidents. Recently, while operating a valve installed in an oxygen supply pipe, rapid combustion and rupture occurred inside, resulting in human casualties due to an explosion. In the case of an old carbon steel pipe, particles generated during operation become combustible and can cause accidents. . In particular, since oxygen facilities are facilities licensed under the High Pressure Gas Safety Management Actand there are no restrictions under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, accumulating these standards is of utmost importance. Therefore, in this study, based on accident cases and overseas standards, methods for improving safety when handling hyperbaric oxygen are reviewed.

The Opening Efficiency of Labor Saving net for the Anchovy Boat Seine (생력형 기선권현망 어구의 전개성능)

  • This study was conducted in order to improvement of fishing gear and fishing operating system for anchovy boat seine by labor saving improved nets. Field experiments were carried out observe geometry of nets and fishing operating system by catcher boats. The obtained results are summarized as follows : The Vertical net opening of fore wing net, wing net, inside wing net, square, fore bag net, flapper, after bag net of the labor saving improved net according to the distance between catcher boats were varied in the range of 5.0${\sim}$7.8, 14.4${\sim}$21.1, 16.2${\sim}$21.2, 14.0${\sim}$17.3, 11.7${\sim}$13.9, 5.4${\sim}$6.9, 8.2${\sim}$9.8m respectively, varied in the range of 50${\sim}$78, 25${\sim}$36, 24${\sim}$31, 31${\sim}$38, 61${\sim}$73, 71${\sim}$91, 87${\sim}$104% of the actual ratio of net opening in each part. Labor saving improved net was performed instant net opening in fore wing net and maintained stable net opening and towing depth by means of attached net pendant. Also, it was minimized as net pocket phenomenon leading to guide anchovy for more catch by means of attached body net. The opening in accordance with distance between catcher boats and towing speed. The catch of labor saving improved net was increased than traditional net due to decrement of net resistance by improvement of bag net leading to increasement of towing speed and reduction of escape anchovy as well as improve nets of whole operation system.

Characteristics of the Flux-lock Type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter According to the Iron Core Conditions (자속구속형 초전도 전류제한기의 철심조건에 따른 특성)

  • The superconducting fault current limiters(SFCLs) provide the effect such as enhancement in power system reliability due to limiting the fault current within a few miliseconds. Among various SFCLs we have developed a flux-lock type SFCL and exploited a special design to effectively reduce the fault current according to properly adjustable magnetic field after the short-circuit test. This SFCL consists of two copper coils wound in parallel on the same iron core and a component using the YBCO thin film connected in series to the secondary copper coil. Meanwhile, operating characteristics can be controlled by adjusting the inductances and the winding directions of the coils. To analyze the operational characteristics, we compared closed-loop with open-loop iron core. When the applied voltage was 200[Vrms] in the additive polarity winding, the peak values of the line current the increased up to 30.71[A] in the closed-loop and 32.01[A] in the open-loop iron core, respectively. On the other hand, in the voltages generated at current limiting elements were 220.14[V] in the closed-loop and 142.73[V] in the opal-loop iron core during first-half cycle after fault instant under the same conditions. We confirmed that the open-loop iron core had lower power burden than in the closed-loop iron core. Consequently, we found that the structure of iron core enabled the flux-lock type SFCL at power system to have the flexibility.

Analysis of Monitored Insulation Data Using Standard Deviation of Leakage Current Data in High-Power Cables at a Thermoelectric Power Station (화력발전소 고전력 케이블의 누설 전류 측정 데이터의 표준 편차값을 사용한 절연감시 데이터 분석)

  • From the instant of installation and operation, power cables start deteriorating. Cable systems can be maintained not only by monitoring the insulation status of the insulation layer and oversheath, but also the insulation status of the terminal and junction in high-voltage power cables. When the cable system (the cable itself and cable junctions combined) deteriorates, fire accidents happen due to dielectric breakdowns. We have invented a device to monitor the deteriorating status of cables, and installed it at Korea Western Power Co. Ltd. located in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do Province. In this paper, we present the results obtained using our device, through analysing and calculating the standard deviation of leakage current from cable insulators attached to the cables. When the standard deviation of analysed leakage current falls below a critical value, a cable system is deemed to be operating safely. But when the standard deviation of analysed leakage current is larger than the critical value, the insulation status of the terminal and junction in the cable system is considered to have seriously deteriorated. The terminal and junction in the relevant system should then be replaced preemptively in order to prevent blackout accidents of cables caused by the suspension of power supply.

Method for Improving the Safety of the Bargemen (부선 승선 선두의 안전성 제고를 위한 제언)

  • More than half of barges have been surveyed and designated as an "unmanned barge". The main advantage of the unmanned barge is that it can carry more cargo equivalent to 25 percent of freeboard compared to that of a manned barge. In contrast, it needs an onboard crew barge because the bargeman is in charge of several tasks during sailing such as mooring or unmooring barges to or from a wharf, dropping and heaving up an anchor and turning on and of navigational lights and shapes. The instant recognition is that a tug assume the responsibility of operating a barge; however, different situations exist in which the shipper, as the operator of the barge, hires a tug. Although a tug might be a carrier of a barge under a specific contract, the master of the tug should fulfill his duty to complete its voyage. Most masters are not provided with the particulars of a barge and the information regarding the bargemen onboard, which is believed not to respect the master's authority and lead to an unintended violation of relevant laws. This paper presents three recommendations for resolving these issues: the policy approach for changing unmanned barges to manned barges, issuing a minimum safe manning certificate, and providing the master of tug information on the barge and the crew onboard. Thus, the proposed approach can be expected to improve the crew's working conditions, diminish the violation of the maximum number of persons onboard the barge, and ensure the authority of the master of tug through such recommendations.
