  • Waste fuels, which originate from different sources, have unique combustion characteristics. The characteristics should be considered in applying FBC(fluidized bed combustor) technology to those fuels. The effects of fuel properties and operating conditions on FBC reactivity were investigated by means of carbon based parameter called mean carbon conversion time, rate of carbon conversion, fraction of carbon conversion and carbon recovery. And the basic physical and chemical mechanisms taking place in a fluidized bed were summarized. Major parameters in designing and operating FBC were evaluated in terms of the fuel properties and the combustion environment.

  • In this paper, analysis of operating characteristics of hybrid cascade multilevel PWM rectifier without bulky and heavy isolation transformers is presented. The multilevel PWM rectifier is analyzed by using the circuit DQ transformation whereby the static and dynamic characteristics and some useful design relationships are obtained. Then, the operating characteristics such as active/reactive power relationships with respect to control variables, DC voltages build up are presented. It will be shown that the DC voltages for the multilevel output generation may be directly built up from AC utility source. Finally, to confirm the validity of the analysis, MATLAB simulations are tarried out.

  • In this paper, we proposed an inductance loaded small type open-loop travelling wave antenna model for the suitable VHF/UHF frequency bands moisture measurement systems and analyzed its operating characteristics by galerkin's solution method. This antenna model enables to change the oeprating rsonance frequency from the frequency range 150 Mhz to 1.0 Ghz without changing the antenna design dimensions by only varing the load inductance values and it showed the similar operating charcteristics and narrowband resonance characteristics at each resonance frequencies. Also this model showed the uniformly distriubte dpower radiation characteristics above the loop axis and it can effectively suppress the spurious radiations from its narrowband resonance characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the linear compressor for Stirling refrigerator. To ensure high performance and long life of the FPFD(Free Piston. Free Displacer) type Stirling refrigerator, the operating parameters of the linear compressor should be optimized. The experimental results show that the operating frequency of the linear compressor has significant effect on the input power characteristics. and that the compressor with higher charging pressure of working fluid has high pressure ratio. For the high performance of the linear compressor. compressor should be operated at the resonance frequency with respect to the given charging pressure.

  • The purpose of this paper is to determine circuit parameters in the inverter part of the electronic dimming ballast for fluorescent lamps, that is adequate to use with the prevailing dimming controller IC. Firstly, the operating frequency characteristics are investigated by varying circuit parameters of electronic ballasts and are matched with the output characteristics of dimming ballast controller. Secondly, circuit parameter values are determined by using PSpice simulation and operating frequency characteristics. Finally its validity is verified from the electrical and light output characteristics on the prototype of the electronic dimming ballast.

  • An experimental investigation was conducted to investigate the effect of Bio-ethanol fuel on the engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics under various engine operating conditions. To investigate the effect of bio-ethanol fuel, the commercial 1.6L SI engine equipped with 4 cylinder was tested on EC dynamometer. The engine performance including brake torque, brake specific fuel consumption, and barke specific energy consumption of bio-ethanol fuel was compared to those obtained by pure gasoline. Furthermore, the exhaust emissions were analyzed in terms of regulated exhaust emissions such as unburned hydrocarbon, oxides of nitrogen, and carbon monoxide.Result of this work shows that the effect of blending of ethanol to gasoline caused drastic decrease of emissions under various operating conditions. Also, improved engine performance such as brake torque and brake power were indicated for bio-ethanol fuel.

  • This paper provides the results of accelerated aging test of 18kV ZnO lightning arresters to investigate the leakage current characteristics. It was impossible to establish the replacement criterion for field operating lightning arrester because conventional aging test was only focused on the aging of ZnO elements. In general, it is possible to replace the aged arresters before the failure in the field using the leakage current measurement because it must be increased by the aging. But we can not use the method because we don't know the characteristics of the installed lightning arresters. Therefore in this paper we applied operating voltage and accelerating cycle which consists of temperature and humidity to the arresters. Then we measured the variation of total and resistive leakage current and found out the characteristics of the acted lightning arresters.

  • In order to implement the real-time operating systems for robot controller, this paper proposes a systematic method for implementing the real-time kernel under the DOS environment. So far, we designed the robot control software and its own operating system simultaneously. Though robot operating systems have simple structure, it allows the developer to have a surplus time and effort to implement complete robot systems. In addition to this, in most cases of this type, operating systems does not support multitasking function, thus, low level hardware interrupts are used for real-time execution. Subsequently, some kinds of real-time tasks are hard to implement under this environment. Nowadays, the operating systems for robot controller requires multitasking functions, intertask communication and task synchronization mechanism, and rigorous real-time responsiveness. Thus, we propose an effective and low costs real-time systems for robot controller satisfying the various real-time characteristics. The proposed real-time systems are verified through real implementation.

Effects of Operating Conditions of an Air-Classifier Mill on the Particle Size of Fine Powder (공기분급식 미분쇄기의 운전조건이 미세분말의 크기에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper investigates the effects of operating conditions of an air classifier mill (ACM) on the particle sizes of PVC and rice hull. Based on the Box-Behnken matrix, the pulverization experiments were performed considering three operating factors: the air flow rate, the classifier speed and the mill speed. The response surface methodology was applied to identify the effects of the operating factors on the particle size. Results show that the particle sizes are governed by the linear variations of the operating factors. As less air is supplied and the mill rotates more slowly, the powder of both PVC and rice hull becomes finer. Furthermore, the classifier speed has a significant effect on the PVC powder but almost no effect on the rice hull powder. Thus, it is found that strong interactions exist between the material characteristics of a particle and the operating conditions of the ACM.

Performance of Business Incubator According to Operating System and Manager Characteristic (창업보육센터 운영시스템과 매니저 특성에 따른 성과에 관한 연구)

  • To derive an efficient operating system for business incubators, this study examined the operating performance according to incubator operating system and incubator manager. The survey targets were tenants of business incubators and factor analysis. Regression analysis was performed according to the reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and parameter using the 19 Ver program SPSS analysis. As a result, the business incubators and business incubators operating system were found to be an important factor and among these, the H / W and system S / W systems were identified as significantly influential factors. On the other hand, this hypothesis of the performance of the support system and characteristics of the incubator manager was rejected for the variable parameters, which always appear to influence the other characteristic factors of the manager. Operational performance can be divided into an incubator performance center and tenant's performance, and the performance of the tenants were analyzed by the significant effect on the managers characteristics.
