A Genome-Specific PCR Primer Design Program for Open Reading Frames

  • Proper PCR primer design determines the success or failure of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) reactions. In this project, we develop GENE-PRIMER, a genomes specific PCR primer design program that is amenable to a genome-wide scale. To achieve this, we incorporated various parameters with biological significance into our program, namely, primer length, melting temperature of primers Tm, guanine/cytosine (GC) content of primer, homopolymeric runs in primer and self-hybridization tendency of primer. In addition, BLAST algorithm is utilized for the purpose of primer specificity check. In summary, selected primers adhered to both physico-chemical criteria and also display specificity to intended binding site in the genome.

Performance Analysis of Virtual Circuit Services Using Open Queuing Network Models (오픈 큐잉 네트워크 모델을 이용한 가상회선 서비스 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, queuing networks with open chains are considerd to analyze the performance of packet switching networks. Networks are classified into backbone and local access networks. Networks for performance analysis are distributed to twelve regions and DNS is the backbone. Analysis was conducted using the real values from the input to existing networks and mathematical estimation values. As the result of analysis, the mean of end-to-and delay for each chain was presented. Except special regions, we found that there was a little difference between real values and mathematical estimation values. However, there could be a performance problem in total networks due to the increase of communication volumes in each region. So we proposed some solutions to this problem.

  • In this paper the dynamic analysis of the Macpherson strut motor-vehicle suspension system is presented. The equations of motion are formulated using a two-step transformation. Initially, the equations of motion are derived for a dynamically equivalent constrained system of particles that replaces the rigid bodies by applying Newton's second law The equations of motion are then transformed to a reduced set in terms of the relative joint variables. Use of both Cartesian and joint variables produces an efficient set of equations without loss of generality For open chains, this process automatically eliminates all of the non-working constraint forces and leads to an efficient solution and integration of the equations of motion. For closed loops, suitable joints should be cut and few cut-joints constraint equations should be included for each closed chain. The chosen suspension includes open and closed loops with quarter-car model. The results of the simulation indicate the simplicity and generality of the dynamic formulation.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films of arachic acid and TCNQ(tetracyanoquinodimethane) were prepared in the sample of Al/LB film/Al type where Al are electrodes, and polarization in LB film and dipolar moment of molecules in the films were measured by themally stimulated current(TSC). It is ascertaind in our experiments that dipolar mament of $C_{12}$TCNQ molecule was about 13-15 debye and the moment was directed from the alkyle chain toward TCNQ. Generation of the open circuit voltage was investigated on the z-type and Hetero structure of LB films.

NDR suggests a new content distribution chain model that users can receive broadcast contents, share contents and sends contents by convergence network. This paper looks at the system requirements, service model and the overall system architecture of NDR platform.

  • The regulation of gene expression in procaryotes is accomplished primarily at the level of transcription. Initiation of transcription is subject to numerous promoter-specific controls which act to ensure coordinate expression of disparate genes. The kinetics of formation of a functional("open") complex at a promoter, prior to the catalytic steps of RNA chain initiation and elongation, is thought to play a major role in controlling the efficiency of transcription of that promotor, since the subsequent processes of nucleotide binding and phosphodiester bond formation are rapid and are not promoter-specific (Mangel and Chamberlin, 1974 Shimamoto et al., 1981)

  • Differential subordination and superordination preserving properties for univalent functions in the open unit disk with an operator involving generalized Bessel functions are derived. Some particular cases involving trigonometric functions of our main results are also pointed out.

  • The object of the present paper is to obtain a more general condition for univalence of analytic functions in the open unit disk U. The significant relationships and relevance with other results are also given. A number of known univalent conditions would follow upon specializing the parameters involved in our main results.

  • In this paper, a fully geometrical method for the determination of the workspace of a 6-DOF parallel manipulator is presented using the concept of 4-bar linkage. The reachable and dexterous can be determined from the proposed algorithm. In order to evaluate the workspace, each leg is considered as an open chain, and two kinematic constraints are developed. The proposed method is verified by simulation.

  • Dynamic analysis is important in structural design of SCARA or articulated type industrial robots and is' usually done to main three axes. In this paper, robot arm dynamics was analyzed using FBD(free body diagram). Though the proposed scheme becomes complex as DOF(degree of freedom)increases, it allows to see types and directions of forces and moments acting on the body. Therefore, the strength analysis of robot arm can be done relatively easy in a case of either closed or open loop chain. This method can be used for obtaining dynamic simulation at off-line programming system and calculating required torques at joints at on-line system.
