We present a new technological concept named RCP (Robotic Cellular Phone), which combines RT and CP. That is an ubiquitous robot. RCP consists of 3 sub-modules, RCP Mobility, RCP interaction, and RCP Integration. RCP Interaction is the main focus of this paper. It is an interactive emotion system which provides CP with multi-emotional signal receiving functionalities. RCP Interaction is linked with communication functions of CP in order to interface between CP and user through a variety of emotional models. It is divided into a tactile, an olfactory and a visual mode. The tactile signal receiving module is designed by patterns and beat frequencies which are made by mechanical-vibration conversion of the musical melody, rhythm and harmony. The olfactory signal receiving module is designed by switching control of perfume-injection nozzles which are able to give the signal receiving to the CP-called user through a special kind of smell according to the CP-calling user. The visual signal receiving module is made by motion control of DC-motored wheel-based system which can inform the CP-called user of the signal receiving through a desired motion according to the CP-calling user. In this paper, a prototype system is developed far multi-emotional signal receiving modes of CP. We describe an overall structure of the system and provide experimental results of the functional modules.
We developed an apparatus for odorous stimuli control to record olfactory evoked potentials from human scalp. The characteristics of the apparatus were as follows. 1. Translating the subjects respiration into electric signals with a sensor attached to the nose. The period and timing of odorous stimuli could be adjusted, so that stimuli could be synchronous with respiration. 2. The respirations translated into electric signals were made constant in amplitude by using an auto gain control circuit. 3. The interstimulus interval of odorous could be arbitrarily selected once every 1 to 9 respirations so that adaptation could be prevented. We obtained olfactory - evoked potentials (OEPs) to odorous stimuli using this apparatus from the site of Cz, whose positive peak latencies were approximately $180{\pm}23ms$. Such response were not recorded if oxygen stimuli were used instead of odorous or with click sounds produced by the switching electromagnetic valve.
PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog) is a dual specific phosphatase antagonizing phosphoinositide 3-kinase activity, and has first been cloned as a tumor suppressor for glioma. Although the role of PTEN as a tumor suppressor has been well studied, little is known about signaling mechanisms regulating expression and/or activity of PTEN in the central nervous system. In this study, we investigated whether PTEN expression is regulated by sensory deprivation. P5 rat pups were unilaterally naris-closed, and olfactory bulbs were immunohistochemically analyzed with PTEN antibody at the $7^{th}$ day after naris closure. PTEN immunoreactivity was found to be down-regulated in both glomerular, external plexiform and subependymal cell layers, suggesting that odor deprivation signals down-regulate expression of PTEN in the olfactory bulb. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to suggest that PTEN expression is regulated by sensory deprivation signals in neonatal rats.
An electronic nose system is an instrument designed far mimicking human olfactory system. It consists generally of gas (odor) sensor array corresponding to olfactory receptors of human nose and artificial neural network pattern recognition technique based on human biological odor sensing mechanism. Considerable attempts to develop the electronic nose system have been made far applications in the fields of floods, drinks, cosmetics, environment monitoring, etc. A portable electronic nose system has been fabricated by using oxide semiconductor gas sensor array and pattern recognition technique such as principal component analysis (PCA) and back propagation artificial neural network The sensor array consists of six thick film gas sensors whose sensing layers are Pd-doped WO$_3$ Pt-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_3$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$ TiO$_2$-Sb$_2$O$_{5}$-Pd-doped SnO$_2$+Pd filter layer, A1$_2$O$_3$-doped ZnO and PdCl$_2$-doped SnO$_2$. As an application the system has been used to identify CO/HC car exhausting gases and the identification has been successfully demonstrated.d.

The vomeronasal organ (VNO) is a sensory organ that influences social and/or reproductive behavior and, in many cases, the survival of an organism. The VNO is believed to mediate responses to pheromones; however, many mechanisms of signal transduction in the VNO remain elusive. Here, we examined the expression of proteins involved in signal transduction that are found in the main olfactory system in the VNO. The localization of many signaling molecules in the VNO is quite different from those in the main olfactory system, suggesting differences in signal transduction mechanisms between these two chemosensory organs. Various signaling molecules are expressed in distinct areas of VNO sensory epithelium. Interestingly, we found the expressions of groups of these signaling molecules in glandular tissues adjacent to VNO, supporting the physiological significance of these glandular tissues. Our finding of high expression of signaling proteins in glandular tissues suggests that neurohumoral factors influence glandular tissues to modulate signaling cascades that in turn alter the responses of the VNO to hormonal status.
흰쥐에 haloperidol(0.5mg/kg/day) 이나 sulpiride(40mg/kg/day)를 4주간 투여하고, 3일간의 약물 배설기간을 거친 후에 apomorphine(0.5mg/kg)을 투여하여 상동행동점수를 평가하였다.
